Four-line signatures? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
To be fair, there isn't a signature on the fourth line; you probably just have a very small monitor.

But anyway, just send me whatever text you want via DM. I'll shorten it down and get it tucked into the signature for you.
Four-line signatures? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
on "trolly," you’re essentially stealing space by falsely reporting a fellow forum member over a signature format—and doing so incorrectly at that, despite the fact that Tom already laid out the proper procedure for you earlier.

Regardless of how the referendum turns out, nothing about this discussion is going to change, because your arguments are fundamentally flawed, biased, and frankly, nonsensical. Rather than re-reading my posts, or those of Jacob Allen and the rest of us, I suggest you take a moment to actually read what mellowlynx68 wrote instead.

Patrick Bailey4 said:A forum doesn't necessarily have to be an objective space. But then again, rustydrifter10 claims that's exactly what she wants. I can only point out that she’s either being dishonest with herself or she's fundamentally mismanaging her approach to achieving that supposed objectivity.
As for the other examples you’ve brought up, I think you're trivializing the core issue. We are dealing with a fundamental societal question here—one that carries actual weight. I am talking about these broader geopolitical and political matters because they matter to our society at large. I wouldn't dream of demanding that the moderators of Formula 1 be die-hard Alonso fans simply because his following outweighs Vettel's. That is a triviality, a distraction from the larger social concerns that actually deserve our attention.
Besides, that isn't even what I'm looking for here. I'm not exactly seeking a specific kind of relationship with the moderators. Copy. The current state of affairs in our society is telling. It really comes down to how leadership manages the environment. If the moderators set things up so that everyone feels equally heard and satisfied with the Forum, then we have a healthy community. Even if all 183 moderators were fundamentally opposed to this referendum, if they actually performed their duties objectively and followed the rules, the engagement levels and poll results would still mirror the general consensus of the American public. Isn't that how a fair system should work?

Am I trivializing this? 🤣
Of all the possible ways to divide society, you’ve managed to zero in on the one specific distinction that interests you, declaring it paramount while dismissing everything else as irrelevant. But really, what does it matter whether Pangloss votes for this or that in a referendum? Does it truly change anything whether he’s a staunchly conservative watchdog or a staunch liberal? Neither label makes him any better or worse at his job as a music moderator. 🤷
You aren't seeing the full picture through your narrow lens. You suggest that a moderator should strive to ensure everyone finds equal satisfaction within the Forum, but tell me—do you truly believe such a feat is possible for any human being, let alone a moderator? Could even a higher power achieve that level of perfect equilibrium? Take our community at Formula, for instance. We have two trolls who spend their entire existence whining about how they're being oppressed and claiming they are victims of unfair repression. At the exact same time, we have at least five or six regular members insisting that these very same individuals are terrorizing the community, pleading for them to be banned permanently. And we haven't even begun to touch upon the larger global issues yet, and the bickering is already this intense.

What I find most amusing is your suggestion that "objectivity" should somehow force the collective views of this community to align perfectly with those of the general public. That is where you’re missing the point entirely. This whole senseless debate boils down to one thing: you’re just bothered by how the moderators voted, and you're frustrated by how everyone else here responded. But let’s be realistic for a second—this community isn't exactly a perfect cross-section of the American population, is it? It can't possibly serve as a reliable proxy for the country at large. The internet, and any niche community within it, naturally attracts a demographic that trends younger, more driven, more open-minded, and more literate than the average person on the street. It is only natural that when we tackle issues like this, a clear divide emerges between us and the rest of the nation.

Let’s circle back to your concept of objectivity for a moment. Looking at the poll results from our F1 enthusiasts regarding the referendum, we currently have two votes "for" and six votes "against." This means the gap between this group and the general population is actually even wider than the typical deviation seen across the rest of the Forum. I’m not sure if you’ve come across the research on this, but there are studies suggesting that Formula 1 fans tend to be socially distinct from the average sports fan. On average, they occupy higher socioeconomic tiers, typically boasting higher levels of education and greater household incomes. One could argue that this litmus test—using a global issue as the metric—has actually demonstrated that the voting structure of the F1 crowd is perfectly objective. In other words, it confirms that specific demographic divergence pointed out by those studies. And I won't even get started on one of those two "for" voters. He’s currently over at Chase Bank, fighting for the freedom to discriminate against the LGBTQ+ community because he believes God grants him that right. Think about that: God. His particular line of reasoning immediately brought to mind the infamous serial killer David Berkowitz, who murdered women based on instructions he claimed God gave him through the barking of a neighbor's dog.

And finally, one has to wonder: why should objectivity be defined by balancing things out against the consensus of the public or the nation? Someone a bit more radical than I am might even argue that we ought to find ways to shift the weight of the Forum's collective opinion toward the mainstream, rather than the other way around. After all, the majority here seems to be fundamentally mistaken regarding the nuances of civil rights.

Therefore, I would suggest you stop trying to force the Forum's demographic to mirror the general public. It isn't necessary, it isn't feasible, and if we are being perfectly honest, it certainly isn't a good idea.

Should a forum be objective? A forum?
Objective according to what? According to the views held by Americans? And you're suggesting the forum's moderator structure should essentially mirror the demographics of the people heading to the polls in a few weeks? Look, are you aware that we actually had to pass laws regarding gender quotas on ballot lists just to ensure "objectivity" in that regard? Yet here you are, arguing that a forum needs a corrective mechanism that would force the selection of moderators to balance out every ideological swing from left to right and back again.

But why stop at the forum as a whole? Why aren't you demanding that moderators for specific sub-forums also be chosen based on how perfectly they reflect the opinions of the users in those sections on "important" issues? For instance, we all know a huge portion of the American population listens to country music. Why aren't you calling for the removal of those disproportionately numerous music mods who prefer indie or rock, and demanding they be replaced by someone who lives for country?

Since you’ve brought up the LGBTQ+ community, shouldn't we also ensure they are represented among the moderators at a rate of about 7-8%, mirroring their presence in the general population? And what about the representation of atheists, retirees, drug addicts, the unemployed, the uneducated, or any other societal classification whose proportions aren't proportionally reflected in the moderator pool? Why is this specific issue the only one you consider a criterion for objectivity? (All these questions are rhetorical; they exist solely to highlight the absurdity of such a selective and narrow view regarding the distribution of moderators into two camps.)

Dear Tyler Cruz32, just as those trapped in Plato’s cave cannot discern much of the reality passing before the sun by merely watching shadows flicker on a wall, this jealous bunch of cowboys can't grasp the sheer necessity of our Western-style union. But don't let it trouble you; the cosmos, in its infinite equilibrium, will eventually orchestrate that connection—an event some will dismiss as mere coincidence, while others will recognize as divine providence. And when that happens, the shouting voices of those peddling their hollow rhetoric will be nothing more than screams into a well, producing what sounds like a powerful echo but is, in truth, merely a fleeting and meaningless reverberation. 😍

Just a bunch of jealous haters... 🤣🤣

Tempo, why don't you let rustycobra32 plant some white squash when they roll into town? And maybe give graniteharbor502 some almonds near rustydrifter10 as a little thank you for saving them from Jason Campbell70.

edit:
Actually, don't give anything to graniteharbor502. Let him just follow PhilipR5 into the canyon. 🤣

Dear Emily Patel64, the forum is actually a pretty pleasant and tolerable place right now (certainly more so than it used to be), so it’s a shame you didn't have the patience to stick around long enough to see it evolve. It seems that every single attempt at improvement—even those clearly meant to benefit the majority—is immediately met with loud accusations, protests, and unnecessary tension.
I imagine things work the exact same way in tennis.

At least drop by Western to read up on things.

Just be careful you don't run into those IRS auditors. They seem to have a real soft spot for people who claim they aren't afraid of a little trouble. Then again, considering how the local Sheriff treats you, I suppose you probably don't have much to worry about.

@stormybadger8 - You might call it a crisis, but I prefer to view it as an opportunity. 🙏 That is precisely what separates the winners from the rest of the pack. 🙏 😁 🤣

@Nathan Jones98 - As far as the famous characters go, all we have left are us, Seka, myself, and "SuKki and the 4 pistols." Though perhaps some pieces from Tamburel escape the blood spilled in the carriage under the cover of darkness. 😍
edit: and Joseph the Radiant. Though I suspect his divine visions come more from chewing on mushrooms than anything else, so I highly doubt he actually understands what's going on. 🤣

@Jason Campbell70 -🤣🤣 Admit it, you’d much rather be taking a heavy beating alongside your padawan than being pushed around by graniteharbor502 like this. 🤣

Good grief, if all of this doesn't eventually spiral into one massive, chaotic free-for-all, I don't know what will. Sure, we’re still occasionally playing cowboys and Indians out here in the Wild West, but personally, I’m just waiting to see if I can manage to plant my flag before someone decides to scalp me. 😁
(And I suppose I should be able to, given how much Tempo is valued. 😁)

Guys, if you shut me down mid-sentence before I can finally claim what’s rightfully mine, you’re looking at an immediate ban!

So, we have two distinct sheriffs here. One is this gentle, sensitive soul—a music lover who’s conscientious, always polite, and perpetually at your service. He’s essentially the gold standard for a son-in-law in any American household. 🙏
The other is a fast-talking, cynical jerk. He pays lip service to the moral values the job supposedly demands, but he couldn't care less if his uniform is wrinkled or what his prisoners think of him.
Which one was Tyler Cruz32 thinking of? 🤷

Tempi, kudos to you! 🙏 This is hands down the best thread on the forum right now. 🙏 🙏

Damn them all, what a complete disaster, and the paramedics haven't even arrived yet... 🤣🤣🤣

Anyway, it’s perfectly in Rain's style to just keep pouring whiskey after such a total mess. 🙏
As far as her appearance goes, that's exactly how I pictured her visually. 😍
But Maminho's older one was a complete surprise to me as well. 🙏 🙏

Saw is running for the hills. 🤣 🙏

Megan Jones3 said:We could just scalp him. Since his nationality has already been swapped, why not change his gender too? At least then everything would be consistent with his name. John Doe, aka John Doe—the first hermaphrodite of the Wild West. He should work in a brothel dressed as a woman, so when Microsoft stumbles upon him and his hot dog, he loses his mind and tears the whole place apart. 😁 😁 😁 😁 😁

Look, if there has to be a trans prostitute in a brothel, wouldn't it be better if, instead of Microsoft killing her, one of the heroes realized this was a golden opportunity for his own backside? He could get exactly what he's attracted to while still maintaining his persona as a straight shooter. Or even a homophobe.

The festivities might be winding down, but I still believe there’s a duty to defend the paddock—not just from the literal flames, but from the influence of big corporate interests like IBM, who likely hold significant stakes over at John Doe.🤣🤣

I think I’ll respond by quoting my favorite line from Three War Havoc:
"He says he's defending his city. And anyone who doesn't defend their city for them is a coward."

It feels a bit awkward since she's my sister, which isn't exactly ideal, but honestly... who can really say? 😍

Exactly. 🙏

I’m genuinely looking forward to the new installments. Are we planning on causing some trouble in the paddock—assuming we don't head out toward Nashville first?
Is it just a coincidence that among all those girls, we ended up with the moderator from the religion group?
And where on earth did the Native Americans go?
