I really feel like a lot of albums from those older metal bands who started flirting with glam metal in the late 80s get way too much hate: Judas Priest - Turbo, RAM IT down (even if that one isn't strictly glam) Saxon - Innocence is no Excuse, Rock the Nation, Destiny Accept - Eat The Heat Savatage - Fight for The rock Celtic Frost - Cold Lake Krokus - The Blitz, Change of Address, Heart Attack
The worst part? Most of these records just didn't hit with the mainstream crowd. Fans absolutely trashed them for chasing a softer sound. Meanwhile, you had Def Leppard—who basically pivoted from heavy metal on their debut straight into pure pop by the time Hysteria rolled around—becoming massive superstars.
Look, we all know it. Paul and Gene always prioritized the money, but they still managed to churn out killer, fun hard rock tracks. It’s a huge difference compared to some of those later bands where chasing the paycheck became the only thing that mattered.
Exactly. God forbid anyone actually writes a fun, catchy song. If you find yourself humming a chorus or a riff later on, it’s an instant sign that it’s total garbage.🙄 ☕
It’s not really an apples-to-apples comparison... Personally, I lean more toward Thompson's stuff. Don't get me wrong, Joe isn't bad, but I don't listen to him much. Honestly, I feel like he got a bit overhyped after he passed away. And since Joe wasn't really into politics, I'm not even sure why this is being brought up here... @revolution909😁Patriotism is exactly what Thompson sings about in so many of his tracks...
