Dutch GP (Santa Monica) - September 3-5, 2021 in Formula 1 ·
I’m calling it now: we’re going to see at least three Safety Cars during today's Dutch Grand Prix.

EDIT: Do you think Robert Kubica might actually get a seat for the Italian Grand Prix?
I didn't manage to catch the race...

I can't say I regret missing this one. Honestly, what we just witnessed was an absolute embarrassment—a total disgrace to the first fifty years of NASCAR history.

Really worked up.

Hammer 😂
They really shouldn't have thrown a red flag just because of some stray debris on the track. 🤦
Brian Perez79 said:Max, if you can just take out Lewis Hamilton's rear tire in the first lap tomorrow, you'll be my champion regardless of what the final standings say.

Go get him, Max.
A perfectly reasonable penalty for cheating.
Jacob Castillo70 said:Is Nico basically just playing sidekick to Crofty?

Pretty much. He can be a bit dry at times... but hey, he gets the job done.
Red flag.

It’s like a heavy weight hitting a wall.
A bit of a smash against the wall for the veteran driver. It looked pretty rough, but we’re pressing on with FP3.
Daniel Ricciardo is sitting at 15th right now, while Lando Norris is up in 4th. There's about a 1.5-second gap between them. 🤦

Antonio just gave Lance Stroll a little "love tap" in the pits. 🤦

Valtteri Bottas might actually have a shot at pole... maybe even the win if everything falls his way. But it's far too early to call it.

If you ask me, Gilles Villeneuve was right up there with Ayrton Senna. Even Niki Lauda belongs in that conversation, despite his brush with fate involving a certain lady and her hair tool. We're talking about those rare talents who pushed just one step further than destiny intended.

I’d also throw Stefan Bellof and Jim Clark into that elite circle.

Ronnie Peterson and Jochen Rindt come to mind too, though I wouldn't quite place them in that top tier.

Exactly. Things might have played out quite differently if he hadn't been taken from us. 👍

I'm honestly not convinced Max will even be behind the wheel for the Canadian Grand Prix; it's highly unlikely the doctors will give him the green light...

If that impact really hit 51G, there's zero chance they let him back on the track...
From what I recall, the last time we saw something like this was with Fernando Alonso—if I remember correctly, it was around 46G 🤔—and he had to sit out the following race.

Personally, I think he'll be fine for the Canadian Grand Prix.
Think back to when Robert Kubica had to sit out the weekend following the 2007 Canadian Grand Prix (which was the United States Grand Prix), and he was back driving or testing shortly after that... so, yeah, Max will find a way to make it happen. 👍
stormybadger8 said:On’s even refusing to sit down with Max because he sees zero point in it.
Plus, we can definitely expect more of these head-to-head clashes before this season wraps up..

You hit the nail on the head again.
Anything could happen... though I wonder if Max is perhaps a bit... hmm... green when it comes to this kind of psychological warfare?
Jason Campbell70 said:He simply respects the words and philosophy of his idol.

"If you no longer go for a gap which exists you are no longer a racing driver"
The GOAT spotted an opening today and took it.

After all, that’s why he’s the GOAT—he surpassed his late mentor a long time ago.

To put it simply: You're wrong.

But hey, thanks for the chat... and goodbye.

Man, this interview on NFL+ really reveals a lot about his true character...👎

I honestly won't even get into my thoughts on him after hearing that statement...
I'm going to go ahead and take a little break from the thread for a while. 😵

Yeah, you're absolutely right.

Lewis Hamilton basically said something along the lines of: I don't care about anyone else, I'm doing things my way because whatever I decide is always right.
He's essentially saying other drivers make mistakes, but he isn't to blame for anything today.
On top of that, he's incredibly proud of himself and how he handled things today.
hiddensailor7 said:Christian Horner is absolutely tearing into Lewis Hamilton on Sky, and the interviewer (Lenny Kravitz) looks like he’s completely lost his footing. He starts stuttering and hesitating, totally bewildered, clearly having no idea how to even follow up with 🤣

It’s like he was terrified that Horner might actually lose his cool and kick him right out of the studio.
You could tell just how wound up and agitated Horner was. It was as if he wanted to snap, "Stop grilling me," because honestly, he looked even more frustrated than Helmut Marko.
Jason Campbell70 said:Gentlemen, the race is already over.
Can we please move past the bitterness?

No.
Charles Kern10 said:Best regards,

- Once again, we’re seeing the true colors and sneaky driving style of Lewis Hamilton—it feels like he's been cutting people off like this for several years now..
- The officials also seem incredibly biased and hesitant when it comes to handing out proper penalties for this "gentleman" driver's actions..
- Instead of disqualifying him from the race, they just hand him a measly 10-second penalty..
- I know the Lewis Hamilton fans will start protesting immediately, but as far as I'm concerned, fair play and integrity in Formula 1 are non-existent right now.

Warmly,

Thanks for such an objective and realistic take. 👍👍

Best,
