The bank is taking my entire paycheck... in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Benjamin Rodriguez2 said:Truth is, I told him the exact same thing back then—just sell it and move on—but hey, the guy wanted to play the waiting game. He believed things would turn around, and you can't really blame him for that, right? He was betting his own life on it.

It's not even that Americans have some deep-seated "ownership cult," it's more like people in other places just have much better alternatives to buying everything outright, just like they do in almost every other aspect of life. This supposed "cult" is really just a symptom of how little society cares about its youth; if anything, it feels like a deliberate way to drain their potential. I'm not saying the government needs to hand out an 800-square-foot condo to every thirty-year-old on a silver platter, but there has to be a baseline where someone can live decently without still living under their parents' roof. That's pretty much the bare minimum for a functioning society, isn't it? But our politicians are always too busy with much bigger, more profitable distractions to bother with stuff like housing or basic stability...

That’s why things are only going to get worse... essentially, we’re looking at economic decline. Once you crush the spirit of the younger generation, who is left to work and build a life in this great country? Just the Chinese and the Russians!!??😢

If Lawrence Wright7 had realized he’d likely hit at least one major setback within a few years, maybe he wouldn't have signed on the dotted line?

Maybe he would've focused more on stacking up cash to build a safety net for when things go south. And trust me, they will. Life isn't always sunshine and roses, which is unfortunately the mindset most young people have when they start planning to buy a house. It's not even about "doom and gloom" scenarios—it's just that people stretch those mortgage payments to the absolute limit just to snag that damn property.

It's just not realistic to expect someone to have it all figured out by 30—own home, car, family, and a rock-solid career. And let's be real: health eventually declines, whether it's yours or your parents'. That costs money.

The thing that kills my optimism about us being over this crisis isn't just a feeling; it's the fact that in a recent survey, I think it was done by the Roland Berger consulting firm, most employers said they won't see any hiring growth through 2020.

That doesn't mean we should stop living our lives, obviously. But we all need to realize that with prices what they are, owning your own place is a luxury. It's out of reach for 90% of people. There's no shame in renting, and there's no shame in living with your folks in the family home. The real shame is being blind to reality and refusing to adapt to the world around you.

It is a disgrace to allow young people to face such a future. Crises can be anticipated, and crises will pass... but allowing the younger generation to grow old as renters or living under their parents' roof... denying them perspective and the right to build a life and work... that is a DISGRACE!!!!!

Adam Chase41 said:that five-place penalty might not even matter when you consider there's probably going to be rain tomorrow. If things get messy out there, Lewis Hamilton will likely end up in the gravel at some point anyway😁 so whether he gets the penalty or not, the outcome remains the same.

The Chance of a wet race is about 0.1%. Just look here:

http://live.autosport.com/commentary.php/id/277

However, we might see some small puddles and mud off the racing line, which is definitely a factor worth considering.😁

P.S. I regret not getting up at 4:00 AM, but I'm honestly too exhausted to allow myself another morning without sleep (after catching the second practice session, there wasn't much else to watch). Qualifying should be interesting, but I'm pacing myself for the main race.

If these guys were actually top-tier drivers, they wouldn't be hiding out in their motorhomes clinging to their sponsors; they'd be out on the track while everyone else is cruising at 50, just to prove who can hit 60. Honestly, my heart goes out to the fans who traveled all that way to watch these crybabies. I’d lose my mind if I had flown all the way to Japan for THIS.

I completely agree with this sentiment and stand by it, regardless of what anyone else thinks. It seems they're just playing it safe.

Joshua Newman2 said:True, but the fact that there were only two of them really skews the perspective. We can't actually tell if Jaime was performing miracles given the conditions or if Timo was just struggling. If there had been a few more drivers out there, we’d have a much clearer picture of what was actually happening, 🤷

Regardless, even if the other car was a Virgin—which wasn't significantly slower than the STR in the rain—Jaime still pulled off something impressive. He showed incredible grit there; I truly respect that. :clapping:

And since others like Kubica, Barrichello, Massa, and Heidefield were also out there, they played it smart by just sticking to installation laps.

Not much happening today. Everyone there is celebrating, but let's be real—they all know the actual win isn't coming until tomorrow. Especially Whitmarsh; he’s acting like it's a done deal, and honestly, that confidence suits him.

Mike Gascoyne explained it perfectly—no desperate rush to see things change by tomorrow. He pointed out that the conditions are rough, and honestly, they aren't going to improve anytime soon. If anything, we might actually see some decent results from Lotus today despite the weather.

I’m calling it quits for today. I feel terrible for waking up this early when I could have been sleeping like a normal person... *yawn*.

cosmicridge5 As I was saying:
I don't think we're seeing any qualifying action today; the forecast suggests the weather is only going to get worse over the next couple of hours. 😁 It looks like there's some kind of storm brewing near the track. 🤣

It’s true. Things are definitely heading downhill.

Just correcting my previous post regarding the qualifying schedule. It’s set for 10:00 AM in Japan, which means 4:00 AM here in the States tomorrow morning. I’ve made my decision—I am definitely not getting out of bed for this one.

The race kicks off at 8:00 AM.

saying they're pushing it back by 30 minutes.

Watching the stream:

Everyone seems to be praying for a delay. Not me, though. I've been dragging myself out of bed all week for work, then again yesterday for the second practice session... plus, I placed some long-shot bets (like Michael finishing in the top three 😁)... and now they want to push everything to 10 am our time tomorrow.

If Ferrari doesn't test their wet weather setup during the second practice session, they might as well pack up early.😁

Well, Red Bull is just on another level right now. It’s tough for anyone else to find an opening. So far, Kamui Kobayashi has been trailing behind Nick throughout the sessions. Meanwhile, they're still tinkering with Lewis Hamilton's car with only 20 minutes left on the clock in FP2.

Red Bull is looking dominant. I can't help but wonder: will that rain they've been forecasting actually hit tomorrow? And if it does, how much will it mess with Sunday's race, assuming the teams optimize for dry conditions during Saturday's qualifying? It’s a real headache!
USA Japan 10.10.2010, Sun 08:00 in Formula 1 ·
It looks like Ferrari was testing out their wet-weather setup during the first free practice session. If the forecast holds, the rain should taper off by this time tomorrow, though we might still deal with some scattered showers leaving the track damp just in time for qualifying.
Who do you think walks away with pole position in those conditions? 😁

stormybadger8 said:What isn't he letting go of? Little kids pushing him onto the track from the gravel trap?😂

Ah. The American learned how to handle the rough patches (just look at his off-road excursion at Spa-Francorchamps). He’s also learning from his other mistakes—though being honest isn't exactly his specialty. Meanwhile, Seb is still in the process of learning from his own errors. He trips up, sure, but it'll all work out. Someday. One day. At the end of the day, Ron gave Lewis much more "wisdom" than Christian Horner ever gave Seb. 😁
Pros and Cons of Sebastian Vettel in Formula 1 ·
Oh, I have one more thought regarding this discussion about Seb and his sheer guts.

Anyone competing in NASCAR has nerve. But, let’s be honest... there are levels to this.

Fernando Alonso drives with caution. He isn't going to take an insane risk just for the sake of it. Neither will Jenson Button, and while Mark Webber isn't exactly a daredevil either, he definitely has those flashes of pure madness.

Lewis Hamilton certainly has the nerve, but Seb takes the cake here... which explains why he made so many mistakes; he was always pushing the limit.

Speaking of guts, Rubens Barrichello showed us his biggest moment of the year when he practically kissed that wall at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

But if we're talking about true, fearless bravery... that belongs to Kamui. The guy is a whirlwind of positive courage (if you'll excuse my poetic phrasing 😁), to the point where he actually drove Ružić right to the edge of being fired.
Pros and Cons of Sebastian Vettel in Formula 1 ·
Before the season kicked off, I actually put my money on Sebastian Vettel. Just to be clear—I’m not even a fan of his. I was simply being objective, looking at his sheer drive following Miami 2009 and how much potential there was in Newey's car design.

However, after what happened at Spa-Francorchamps, I’d say his chances of taking the championship are slim to none. For me, Belgium was the breaking point.

I don't view Jenson Button as a serious title contender either, since he really needs specific circumstances to win—like heavy rain or a mistake from Lewis Hamilton. As for Fernando Alonso, I’m still holding out a little hope (though that's purely my own bias...😁).

Between Mark Webber and Lewis Hamilton, I have more faith that Lewis will pull it off. I don't doubt Mark, but that Briton has this intense hunger to prove himself again. I know the Australian hasn't secured a title yet, but... once one of Ron Dennis's guys locks in, they don't let go.

I’m leaning toward that option too. It might not be a total blowout, though. You probably have it pictured in your head that now is the perfect moment for his comeback, especially since this track suits him perfectly—much like Monaco does. That said, expect Red Bull to be fighting back hard...
