Sure, maybe I’m just getting old and everything seemed better back in the day... but honestly, watching this today is just plain boring, especially when one team is totally dominating. Yeah, sure, there are tons of overtakes and it feels "tense," but once you realize there's a massive restriction on engine development in the background, plus they have hybrid technology, DRS, and all those other gadgets—not to mention how they have to manage every single tire type because the manufacturer intentionally makes them degrade differently—it all starts feeling fake. It's like, a driver just hits a button and suddenly has an extra 50 horsepower to blast past the guy in front in under a second. Seriously, it feels like some teenager came up with the whole concept. It has less and less to do with actual racing. Man, what a difference ten years makes.

Saturday's lineup looks absolutely killer. I’m dying to see who ends up taking over the main stage. 🙏🙏🙏

Great. Enjoy your new thread without all those GIFs and extra clutter. At least things should load much faster now. 😁

mellowraven22 said:True, but this way you actually get a choice without sacrificing functionality.

But you're losing the soul of the content. People who want to share things now have this unnecessary pressure to overthink everything. It'll just discourage them from posting at all.
The whole point should be for people to enjoy themselves on the thread, not for it to be some perfectly optimized tool.

Besides, where are all those mobile users who supposedly hate GIFs so much?

mellowraven22 said:What’s the actual issue here? She just closed one thread and started another?

I decided to separate GIFs from photos. I don't see anything wrong with that.

But that’s exactly the point: you get a huge collection of images mixed with just a few GIFs per page. It’s perfect—just like how every major US forum operates. Scrolling through a massive wall of nothing but GIFs is exhausting, and waiting for them all to load is a pain. Not to mention when you're copying content over to other boards; you don't have to worry about what's animated and what isn't. With this setup, you do. It's just more work for no reason.

So, we have a new moderator over on the Jokes subforum, and for reasons known only to her, she’s decided that the Funny Photos thread can no longer include animated GIFs. Honestly, pretty much every single forum on the internet has a thread like this, and they all allow GIFs. She went ahead and opened a new thread, and most people are totally against it. Now, when I'm bored, I actually have nothing left to read. 😬

What’s with the sudden rule change? Why mess with a thread that has 350,000 hits?

They really should have called it—there was this clip of Mass where you could just see how much water was on the track. It felt more like hydroplaning than actual racing at that point. Huge props to Heidfeld for pulling off second place, though. 👍 Ferrari's management completely blew it; they should've gone with intermediates. 👎 Before that red flag, the race was incredible. It looks like these new rules are a total home run. I can't remember seeing this many overtakes in the first two races of a season in forever. Honestly, it feels like it'll take a miracle for anyone to knock Button and Brawn off the top spots... that car is just brutal. The ease with which he surged from fourth to first doesn't exactly scream "unpredictable championship," but hey, at least it’s entertaining to watch him fly.

Look, I can send you a link to a torrent site where there's currently a Spanish version at 6GB, a Portuguese one at 4GB, and an ONBOARD.PDTV.BBC.MPEG-2.English/natural sound version sitting at about 2.5GB. 😬 But honestly, those will take forever to download. You’re better off waiting until this afternoon when a high-quality DivX version with plenty of seeds finally drops.
stormybadger8 said:I’m with you. I’m not saying he isn't at fault, but Kubica shares the blame too. Why dive in like that when you've got a significantly faster car? It's not like he thought the guy would just magically vanish. Of course he was going to fight for the spot. They're both on the hook for this one.

Yeah, Kubica played that one a bit amateurishly too, but he was chasing a win—he probably just got carried away in the moment. Sebastian Vettel should have realized there was no way he was staying ahead of Kubica and shouldn't have taken those risks in the first place. But hey, it's easy to be a critic after the fact.

On another note, what's the deal with these tires? Are we going to see the same super-soft to medium combo at the next race, or can they change it up?
Tires that only last three laps... honestly, who even came up with that idea? 🙏🙏🙏
stormybadger8 said:You've got some serious issues.🙄

Robert Kubica clearly has the faster car and was forcing the gap, closing in 🙄 and clipping Vettel, who moved out of the way (though if he were smarter, he should have braked). But honestly, Bernie Ecclestone is the one most to blame for this mess.☕

Total nightmare timing for this race. You could bet money that neither driver saw a damn thing through that incredibly annoying Sun. It was driving me crazy, so imagine what it was like for them.🙄

To hell with America and those early morning starts. I hate having to drag myself out of bed at 6 or 7 AM.🙄

These softer tires are an absolute disaster and a total safety hazard.🙄

All in all, just a complete joke...👎

Look, regardless of how much you root for Vettel, you have to admit the kid made a massive blunder. He saw that Robert Kubica was significantly faster and was going to blow past him. It was only a matter of time before it happened in that corner or the next, so risking a podium like that was just reckless. Oh well, hopefully he learns from it.

The Ferrari drivers are both idiots. 😍

Congrats to Brawn, Jarno Trulli, and Lewis Hamilton. 👍
stormybadger8, Button-Vettel =0.7 sec. 😲 It's a disaster. I'm with Flavio Briatore on this one—who could even sit through watching that? 😁
Wow, I definitely wasn't expecting that. 😲

redowl90 said:What do you mean "Michael Mann"? Come on!

Michael Mann .... producer

You can't deny the influence here. You can actually feel that signature Mann style bleeding into the movie. I’m not saying he directed it, but his fingerprints are all over the vibe.

redowl90 said:Sure, as long as there's gunfights, right? Typical.
Syriana is an excellent film, too.

So what if there's shooting? I know it was meant as a joke, but why does having action make a movie "lesser" than a drama? People always use that to dismiss someone else's opinion. :/😁

Personally, I found Syriana totally impenetrable. It took me half the movie just to figure out who was working for whom, and even then, it didn't really stick with me. There was way too much stylistic fluff and unnecessary complexity; they could have told that story much more elegantly.

Why would you expect garbage, for crying out loud?😕 I mean, Jamie Foxx and Michael Mann are right there on the poster. Honestly, I doubt he even directed this one solo.

Personally, I was hoping for something along the lines of Syriana—something smart, not mindless or boring. And maybe a little more action. 😁

It's a good film.👍

You really need to step outside your bubble and check out the latest updates 🙂

Ever since "Top Gear" relaunched back in 2002 with Clarkson, May and The Hamster, there have been two "Stigs". Originally, we had the "Black Stig," who sported a black racing suit. We now know that this Stig was actually Formula 1 driver Perry McCarthy. He eventually spilled the beans in his book "flat Brok", and shortly after, the character was essentially "killed off" at the beginning of series three. In that episode, he drove way too fast off the deck of an aircraft carrier and couldn't stop in time. It's hard to say if those two things are linked, but I'd bet my life the Top Gear producers weren't thrilled about him coming forward.

After that, the show introduced a new look: the "White Stig" in all-white gear. It is the identity of this newer Stig that remains shrouded in mystery. A lot of fans suspect that "White Stig" isn't just one single Formula 1 test driver, but rather a rotating cast of whoever is free to film on a given day. This theory is given added weight by the recent Winter Olympics special when the driver performing the ski-jump stunt—supposedly "The Stig"—was identified by local Swedish papers as just some local snowmobile racer. Plenty of Formula 1 drivers have sat in for the "star in a reasonably priced car" segment, yet they all dodge the question or deny it entirely, much like Damon Hill. The current theory as espoused by " Daily Express is that Formula 1 driver Julian Bailey is The Stig, but honestly, nobody truly knows. And that's exactly how they want it!

So, who actually is The Stig? Or are they even still around? 😁
From what I’ve been reading online, nobody can seem to agree on it.
Thunderbirds

The Thunderbirds incredibly good trailer. Honestly, you really need to see it on the big screen in a theater; watching it at home just loses some of that impact. I haven't actually seen the movie yet—it'll probably be a dud—but man, that trailer is phenomenal. 🙏🙏🙏

Once again, the people in charge of the subtitles at AMC Theatres have proven they are absolute idiots. There were several moments throughout the movie where it happened, and then right at the end, about two minutes in, the subtitles jumped ahead by 15 seconds. It was incredibly irritating. You get what might be the biggest movie of the year hitting theaters, and they still manage to screw it up.
