I honestly have no clue what’s going on or how to handle it until the hormone lab results come back. And yeah, I get those weird feelings too. It’s not like my heart is racing or anything, I just feel incredibly jittery and on edge for no reason. Just this constant internal tension. Maybe it's just this stupid weather affecting me. I struggle with low blood pressure too 😬
Ugh, tell me about it! I get that exact same kind of tension... it's impossible to put into words. Honestly, I've been feeling like this non-stop lately. It's not even like I'm depressed or anything, it's more like this tightness right around my heart. Seriously, at this rate, I'm gonna be spending more time at the doctor's office than in my own living room, just like some old lady!🤣
My sex hormones are basically in a coma right now, and honestly, I haven't the slightest clue what's going on with my thyroid. But hey, looks like I'll be getting those answers soon enough. I feel like I’m losing my mind!😠
I’ve always dealt with low blood pressure, but over the last couple of years, everything has just gone completely haywire... I have no idea what's happening, but I seriously need to get to my doctor ASAP!
mistyridge31 said:The only thing missing from your description is mentioning how you’re gasping for air—like you just sprinted a hundred meters—and hunting for breath just to complete the full panic attack experience. Of course, that's assuming there isn't an underlying physical issue. If it really is just panic, it’s nothing to lose sleep over as long as you start following some basic ground rules. Usually, by the time someone gets hit with a panic attack, they've already crossed a line; they've pushed past their limits of stress and exhaustion until the body basically says, "Enough!" and forces a release. It only becomes a serious problem if you keep ignoring those warning signs and try to maintain the same frantic pace, because then you're looking at risks like heart attacks or strokes. The very first thing you need to do is: slow down. Just... chill out a bit. Thin out your schedule and definitely find some stuff to do that actually relaxes you. And most importantly, go see a doctor to rule out anything physical. If everything comes back clear, it wouldn't hurt to talk to a psychologist—not a psychiatrist, though, because those guys will just try to shove pills down your throat immediately.
I mean, obviously, I'm breathing, it's just that it feels like something is crushing my chest and my heart starts racing like crazy. It's just... pure fear.😕 And honestly, I'm not even under a ton of stress right now; everything is fine. I think I'll go ahead and make a doctor's appointment after all. It just feels so weird. I'm only 21, so who knows what they're going to tell me...
So, I’m walking through downtown the other day, just minding my own business and checking out some shop windows, when suddenly my heart starts absolutely hammering against my ribs. It felt like this sudden, overwhelming sense of dread—like something terrible was about to go wrong or something totally unexpected was right around the corner. And the thing is, I knew logically there was nothing happening! It actually scared the life out of me. 😲
I mean, I’ve had moments like this before, but usually, I can actually point to a reason for it. Like, if I’m about to run into an old friend I haven't seen in ages, my heart might race because of the nerves, and that makes sense, right?
But this? This was just out of nowhere. Has anyone else ever dealt with this kind of thing? Honestly, I’m starting to get really worried about my health here—and I don't just mean physical stuff, I'm talking about my mental headspace too.
If you’re looking for someone, I can't recommend Dr. Wahid over at the Kruge Medical Center enough. Seriously, this guy is absolute perfection. He’s got such a gentle bedside manner, totally approachable—you ask him a question and he actually takes the time to walk you through everything instead of just rushing you out the door... 😍
quiethound45 said:My doctor handed me a referral today for some hormone testing. He suggested I head over to Mayo Clinic, but honestly, my brain was such mush that I totally forgot to ask him the specifics of how it all works. If anyone here has gone through this or knows the drill—please, I'm begging you, help a girl out!🙂
From what I remember, you usually have to get those tests done between day 3 and day 5 of your cycle.🙂
ajv said:Has anyone heard of the OB/GYN over on Circle Drive? Her name is Jadranka Puvačić Solomun. Is she any good??
thanks
I actually go to that clinic, though I see a different doctor there. But honestly, I've heard good things about her too. A friend of mine mentioned she was pretty solid.
Hannah Hall77 said:So, here's the deal: I'm 16, about 5'3", and weighing in around 135 lbs. A ton of people tell me I'm not even overweight, just totally fine, but honestly? I still want to drop a few pounds. I don't have the time to be hitting up the local gym, and I'm definitely not the type to go out for long runs or bike rides—I've never been much of an athlete. I eat pretty much whatever, so the issue is probably just that I'm sitting around too much. Does anyone have any advice? Maybe some tips on diet or some exercises I can just do at home? 🙂
Honestly, maybe the problem is that you're eating everything in sight. Just ditch the chips, the chocolate, the pastries, the fast food, and all that other junk, and you'll see a difference!
And whatever you do, do NOT start starving yourself. You are way too young for that, and trust me, it never actually works.
neonbear4 said:So, I’ve decided to commit to the UN diet. I honestly feel like it’s the most effective way to go. My mom just headed out to the farmer's market to grab some fruit and hit up Kroger for groceries, so I'm officially kicking this off tomorrow. Quick question though—are we talking about losing those 40 to 55 pounds in 90 days while staying active, or is that without exercise? Because if that goal is based on zero movement, I figure adding some workouts should definitely speed things up or at least boost the results, right?
Thanks for all the advice so far. I'm still looking for tips, and does anyone else have a specific diet they swear by? Or even just some solid home workouts I can do?
Look, if you're going that route, I highly recommend grabbing some multivitamins to supplement everything, because let's be real—that diet isn't exactly "balanced" by any standard.
As far as working out goes, you really can't beat running or power walking, so start there. Just aim for thirty minutes to get the ball rolling, then try to push your duration as you get fitter. Honestly, just start by walking at a brisk pace. If you want to step it up, sign up for a gym membership and spend some time on the stepper or the elliptical. That's exactly what you need to actually drop the weight.
Honestly, you should head over to your local library and see if they have "Eat to Stay Thin" by Montignac on the shelf. Or, hey, if you’ve got some extra cash burning a hole in your pocket, just go ahead and buy it.
It breaks everything down so clearly—like, why we actually put on weight, how insulin works, and exactly what kind of stuff you need to eat to keep those blood sugar levels from spiking like crazy.
The golden rule? Stick to foods with a low glycemic index. If you want me to dive deeper into the details, just let me know. I can even shoot you a private message if that's easier.
But look, once you decide to pull the trigger, whatever path you pick, do NOT quit! That first week is absolute hell, I'm telling you, but once you get past that initial hump, it’s actually not that bad at all.
For me, this way of eating has been nothing short of perfection!
shadowpilot10 said:I don't want to sound stupid or uneducated, but what on earth is PCOS? I was sent for it because of some painful issues, but everything seemed totally fine during my last exam, so I'm just doing this to be safe. Honestly, I'm dreading it because I don't think they'll actually find anything. My last gynecologist basically just looked at me after the check-up and said, "You probably just need to relax," and then he was out. So, does it even matter which day of my cycle I go? Ugh, being a woman is such a massive headache...
I’m not sure if it matters specifically for your situation, but you should absolutely get that ultrasound done since you already have the referral!
Just call the hospital you're planning to visit, or better yet, ask your primary care doctor if the timing of your cycle matters. You have so many ways to get an answer... Or honestly, just call the OBGYN's office and ask his nurse. It’s not rocket science.🙂
Seriously, it drives me insane when people are this irresponsible about just asking questions. 😲
Honestly, you probably have an itchy scalp because of that hair gel... Just stop using it for a week and see what happens.🙂
I deal with scalp issues myself, but since I have seborrheic dermatitis, nothing really works perfectly for me (though you could try Selsun Blue; that actually helped me quite a bit).
Why don't you try going through a private clinic instead? I know if you go through the hospital system, they order everything in bulk, so you end up stuck waiting for weeks on end. But honestly, when I was in that situation, I just walked right up to them and said: "Look, I’m on my period right now and heaven knows when I’ll deal with this again, so please, just get me an order today!" 🙂
lonefox7 said:Does it actually matter if I go for an ultrasound 2-3 days after my period ends? My doctor told me that’s the best time, but it’s such a headache because my cycle is totally irregular. Since I never know when it’ll end, I can never seem to book an appointment within that tiny little window. It's been months of me trying to catch that timing!
Honestly, I don't know if this applies to everyone, but they told me I had to go right after my period ended—apparently, that's when things are most clear. I was dealing with PCOS issues, so I had to be super precise about it.
Look, you probably have a rough idea of how long yours usually lasts, right? On the day you get it, just call them immediately and book it. Seriously, tell them you have an irregular cycle and ask if they can squeeze you in—that worked wonders for me, they got me in right away. If your period typically lasts about five days, just aim for day six or seven. Just grab the slot before it slips away!
You get your results right away and then you just take them straight to your gynecologist.
Are you skipping out because it hurts? Seriously? Don't be so irresponsible with your own health. First off, it doesn't hurt! You just have to relax all your muscles and it’s honestly fine! For me, getting a Pap smear is way more uncomfortable than an ultrasound!🙂
I’m right there with Wahida on this—it’s basically the law as far as I’m concerned. 😍
Alright, so I think you’ll need to have a transvaginal ultrasound done (that’s the TVS one, I guess that’s what was on my referral too).
Now, if he’s the one who gave you the referral, you can head to pretty much any hospital—though, just a heads-up, I’m pretty sure you have to call ahead and make an appointment everywhere.
But, if you get the referral from your primary care doctor, you won't be able to go to the main Women's Hospital (they usually only take referrals directly from gynecologists).
The actual exam only takes a minute or two; it isn't painful or even uncomfortable at all. 🙂 It’s just like a standard gynecological check-up. At the end, they give you those printed images, and then you just take them to your gynecologist. Definitely ask them to look over everything and explain it to you if anything seems confusing! 😘 My doctor is honestly the best because he actually takes the time to answer my sixty million questions—which, let’s be real, I always come prepared with. 😳
So, I was using this lotion that had clindamycin and some other stuff mixed in—everything had to be prescription-only, which is just how my dermatologist at the clinic handles things. I also had to pick up some Skinoren cream (I think it goes for about $27 at the local CVS) and honestly, it worked wonders. Especially the cream part! But the second I stop using it, everything just flares right back up. It’s so frustrating. I think I might try seeing a different specialist next time, maybe someone who can give me a more long-term plan so I don't keep stuck in this endless cycle.
I heard through the grapevine that there’s some amazing dermatologist over at the Kruge medical clinic (someone mentioned them on a thread here a while back, I think?), but honestly, my memory is shot and I can't recall her name! If anyone knows who she is, please, for the love of god, let me know! 😬
Kimberly Davis52 said:You know, I was checking out some health stuff the other day and realized something about uvin tea—it actually comes in those little granules now, kind of like how you’d see with a powdered drink mix like Tang or Kool-Aid. It’s a total game changer because it has way less odor than the traditional stuff. Honestly, it makes the whole experience so much more tolerable if you aren't trying to hide the scent from everyone else in the house! 😁
I mean, I saw that too, but honestly? I still walk away thinking this way is way more useful. Maybe I’m just totally off base here, though—I could be completely delusional about it.😕
I don't feel a damn thing right now, and I haven't even had my tea yet! 😬 So, I actually managed to chug about a liter of water today—which, let’s be real, is absolutely massive for me because normally I’m the type of person who barely touches a glass or two in an entire day. I’m basically a walking desert most of the time! But hey, I gave it a shot, and honestly? It might have actually helped a little bit. One step at a time, I guess!
So, a few months back, I went in for some basic urine tests—nothing fancy, just standard screening, not even a full-blown culture or anything. And wouldn't you know it? The results showed bacteria. But my doctor? He just brushed it off like it was nothing! He told me it didn't necessarily mean anything was wrong, so he didn't bother sending me for any follow-up tests or anything more serious. The thing is, at the time, I wasn't actually feeling any symptoms or dealing with any pain, so maybe that's why he thought it was fine. But now? Now everything has changed and I am feeling absolutely miserable. Honestly, I am so livid right now. I feel like I’m being ignored, and now that this is actually affecting my life, I’m seriously considering giving that doctor a piece of my mind!
