Yeah, right. He, Sid Vicious, and Elvis Presley cooked up some Judeo-Masonic conspiracy to run the whole damn world. Not to mention those aliens snatched them once before.
I already laid out my take on what makes a band "cult" back on the first page. If we’re talking about a truly legendary group, we’re likely looking at a band that doesn't even exist outside of myth... Which brings us to the ultimate legends: Spinal Tap.
I’m basically just here to complain, but I don't see any other option. Kill! Kill! KILL!!! This track is pure Britney Spears in every single sense—the lyrics, the music, the delivery. It's eerie...
Justin Taylor, not everyone on this forum is obsessed with the new Metallica album. 😉 When I think of them, I put on something between "Ride The Lightning" and "Metallica," and I haven't even touched the new lyrics yet. There's no rush...
"Album" is a bit pricey ($13, even though it’s a record that pops up all the time; I actually owned two copies, paying $3.25 for each; I eventually swapped one out but kept the other), but a friend of mine is going to pick it up, along with "Greatest Hits, So Far" (which is a steal—$16).
For what it's worth, this was a local Kleš release (just like Headsi and Public Image Ltd), but it's been kept in great shape. Still, Kleš is Kleš, and I’d honestly pay double just to have it... And hearing Hüsker Dü in a peppermint state, still wrapped in plastic... Damn, it was actually painful having to leave "Zen Arcade" for another time. Now I'm just waiting on a buddy to cough up $20 for that "The Clash" CD I traded him to get this record, so let's go grab that too... 🙂
maybe Talking Heads - Listening Wind (really want to hear that one)
Talking Heads - Remain in Light - $25 The Clash "The Clash" - $13$30 Hüsker Dü "Flip Your Wig" - $13$20 Hüsker Dü "Zen Arcade" - $26$35 Public Image Ltd "Second Edition" $22$15 V / a "Duck and Cover" $18$12
I picked up the first three today (though I’m practically broke now, having traded most of my cash for some math encyclopedia—not that I need it, since I already know everything in there 😎). I reserved the other three, so I'll grab them bit by bit...
I realize this is slightly off-topic... But look, Hüsker Dü and Public Image Ltd are absolute cult classics, and The Clash is legendary! 😁
In my view, cult bands are those that never quite hit massive mainstream heights, yet for the small circle of people who actually know them, they carry more weight than Jesus... For instance—The Velvet Underground, The Stooges, MC5, The Birthday Party, Gang of Four, Nomeansno, and so on.
So, we have a cult band mentioned here—Darkthrone. Are you kidding me? How can bands like The Clash, Metallica, or Nirvana be considered "cult" acts? If a band is being listened to by millions of people, they aren't cult... they're mainstream.
So, are the Penguins actually worth checking out? I feel like I caught one of their tracks on that terrible compilation ("sav marš na ples"), and honestly, it didn't exactly blow me away...
Well, I'm pretty sure that track never actually made it onto the CD. If you're really that desperate for it, find someone to rip it from the vinyl to a computer, run it through CoolEdit to clean up the surface noise and pops—it's easy enough—and then burn it to a disc.
I think I can find this on vinyl in Indianapolis. If you're actually interested, shoot me a PM and I'll check the price tag—send over the cash and I'll pick it up for you.
By the way, Chokebore - Thin as Clouds (man, this stuff is pure bliss...)
