No way, Buzzcocks?! How on earth am I supposed to handle that... 🙂
I can't be bothered to write an email, so I'll just drop it here: my record from Mexico finally arrived (you can tell it’s from there by the two-headed eagle on the inner sleeve 😁). I'll send it over as soon as I find someone heading to Chicago.
I haven't gotten around to listening to that yet (I've got almost all the Flag stuff except "In My Head"), but "Drinking and Driving" by The Business is an absolute blast.
A few more suggestions:
Motörhead - The Chase Is Better than the Catch Shellac - Dog and Pony Show The Jesus Lizard - Mailman Ramones - Touring Dwarves - Fuck Around ...
Punk Rock Compilation featuring King Khan & His Sensational Shrines - Kukamonga Boogaloo :debilana:
Man, Vajt was truly something else... I remember being obsessed with his track "Valentina," and that one song where the lyrics go on and on about reaching the sea. It took me forever to realize why my mom used to get so annoyed whenever I sang along to it.
Exactly! I honestly can't stand anything she sings. After listening to "All Tomorrow's Parties," even Reedov's vocals start sounding angelic... 😁
This is completely unrelated, but since I'm already venting, I have to mention that I just watched "Twin Town," and it’s been ages since I've seen such a shamelessly terrible movie. Truly awful.

You heard wrong. 😁 😁 😁
People keep bringing up that "Rijeka-Paris-Texas" compilation... Personally, I only like the title. Even the tracks by Let are terrible (even though I usually love "sam u voda," this version sounds like the Sisters of Mercy taking themselves way too seriously).
Jason Rogers said:Regarding the vocals, you really should check out this Meat Puppets - Mirage album, which features that track Kevin Chavez3 was mentioning. The vocals there are absolutely haunting...
Ugh, in that case, it’s better to just stick to their debut! Now THAT is what I call powerhouse vocals... 😁 😁 😁
As for the worst vocalist of all time, my vote goes to Kim Gordon, specifically on that track by Experimental Jet set where she screams "I'm coming hoooooome..." during the chorus. Just dreadful. Truly awful.
Like Sonic Youth - Tunic (song for Karen) (though she can actually sound decent when she wants to 🙂)

God, please don't let any The Stranglers fans come for me regarding how The Jam looked! The Stranglers, for heaven's sake! As the poet once said—"He's got a moustache!"🙂
Now, I’m not going to compare The Jam to every other band that ever existed, especially not to Go4 or Joy Division (who weren't even playing a similar style to begin with), but they are very dear to me. Even though I don't actually care for The Jam's specific sound—Weller's voice is grating, and there's a bit too much of The Who in their arrangements—they have a massive collection of incredible songs. With The Clash or The Damned, they could record absolute garbage and I’d still love it, simply because I enjoy the sheer sonic profile of those bands. But The Jam themselves aren't really my cup of tea; they just have such beautiful songs that I can't help but love them...🙂

And let's not forget how they completely reworked the harmonies, too. 😁 😁 😁
But seriously, if we're talking about that specific vibe, I think the Termites actually pull it off much better... 🙂

I wouldn't say it's because the media pushed Jam; I'd say it's because Jam was simply the better band. Sure, both groups had grating vocals and were pretty unpleasant to listen to, but at least the Jammer crowd didn't rely on those space-invader keyboard sounds... their songwriting was just superior. 😛
I’ve always had this love-hate relationship with them. To be honest, they've always rubbed me the wrong way—right from the jump, they felt like old men trying too hard to market themselves as "teenage rebellion." Their whole "rebellion through sex" shtick never landed for me; it lacked the raw energy of something like The Dwarves. Instead, it just felt geriatric and decadent, much like The Rolling Stones... Still, I can't deny they have a massive catalog of great tracks. In fact, my favorite release of theirs is "Sound Sculpture"—which is rare for me, since I usually prefer a band's punk era over their polished pop phase... 😳
I actually have two original copies by Em Sijati! Now I can't help but regret not picking up those two albums on vinyl when I stumbled upon them at a flea market in $3.25... "U Can't Touch This" is pure chaos!
Like Black Flag - Nothing Left Inside... lonely lonely lonely lonely boooooooooyyyyyyy... it's brutal.
