Honestly, your best bet would be to just coordinate directly with the bakery
Almost everyone running that kind of business keeps those little refrigerated delivery vans on hand—so I don't think they'll have any trouble getting it to you... though, mind you, it's definitely going to come with an extra fee

I mean, I actually remember hearing about a time when someone had a cake delivered all the way from Miami to St. Louis

David Thomas362 said:Mmm, cookies! Yum! We ordered some treats from Hershey's for Christmas and they look absolutely stunning—not to mention they taste incredible. I haven't managed to try everything yet, but so far, I’m really impressed!

Erm, please don't be mad at me, but that's just my local neighborhood bakery... I've ended up ordering from them quite a bit over the last few years whenever I'm feeling a little too lazy to drive somewhere else for sweets

The prices they charge are totally inflated—and honestly, they don't deserve it. Just a basic slice of cake that tastes completely average will run you about $14-$5.00... I mean, seriously...

The only things actually worth mentioning there are their princess donuts and maybe a tiny little cookie here or there

But the prices are just outrageously high for the quality they provide... I think it's like $40 kg

For that kind of money, you could get some truly amazing treats at Hershey's☕

Some friends of mine had a cake from them once; it was decorated beautifully, though the flavor was pretty middle-of-the-road... I can't quite recall how much they charged per slice

granitewolf20 said:I’m honestly skipping the dessert table entirely. I’ll wait until the right moment rolls around. 😁
(Meaning when the actual cake is served.)

Though, I guess I'll coordinate with catering to make sure they have some sweets on hand if guests start asking for them early.

I haven't done this at any wedding I've been to, and there's always a mountain of leftovers.
To me, it's just a total waste of money.
(And even if I did get a little goody bag to take home, half of it would probably end up in the trash anyway. 🤷)

I actually got into it with my mom about this a few times, but once she heard how much people actually throw away after everything gets split up, 😲 she finally had to see things my way.

Oh, please don't be offended, because this is strictly just my two cents: a wedding without a dessert spread is just... well, it's missing something.😬

I attended two weddings down South where they skipped the sweets entirely, and honestly, those were the only things I remembered—which really made me decide I wasn't interested in attending more Southern weddings (thankfully, since all my cousins are already married now, I don't have to worry about it too much)

At one of them, there was a cake sitting on every single table when we walked into the venue, but once the appetizers were served, the cakes mysteriously vanished and never reappeared... plus, there were no individual pastries at all... so basically, we just ate the wedding cake and that was it.

The other one? No sweets whatsoever.
After the gift exchange, my sister and I headed home with our families around 2:00 AM, while my parents stayed behind—and Mom told me they didn't even bring the desserts out until 3:00 in the morning! They brought out maybe eight little pieces on tiny plates, and everyone just sat there staring at each other, wondering who was going to be the first to grab one... and in the end, nobody did.😬

Now, I was at a wedding recently where they cleared the dessert station before the main course, and I noticed they weren't bringing it back out, so I actually had to go hunting for it... luckily, the server was a nice guy and brought some over, but otherwise, they wouldn't have...🤷

Sorry, maybe we Midwesterners are just overthinking it, or maybe it's just me being a total sucker for sugar—but for me, a wedding without dessert just doesn't feel complete. Period.

Well, hey, if you want to plan your wedding exactly how you want it—go for it!
But, you know, you've probably thought about what kind of food suits your guests (I hope so!), and what kind of music they'll enjoy (hope so, too!)... so maybe just give a little thought to what they might expect regarding the sweets, too...

😉

Laura Clark5 said:I’ve been mulling over this idea lately—instead of just scattering cookies all over the tables, what if we arranged them alongside some fresh fruit? You know, more like a high-end buffet spread

The thing is, everyone I talk to is trying to convince me that it’s a terrible idea altogether 😕
Is that actually true? I’d love to hear your honest thoughts on this 😉

People are just going to be too lazy to get up and grab sweets, and then they won't eat anything at all...

I actually went to this wedding recently where they had a dedicated dessert table, and I have to say, people didn't seem to mind the extra walk at all—though, I suppose some might find it a little awkward to leave their seats...

Or maybe they're more like me—you just grab an empty plate, pile it high with whatever looks good, bring it back to your table, and everyone digs in from there...

I guess it all really comes down to how much bust a woman is working with...
I honestly feel like if you're dealing with a larger chest, skipping the bra might not be the best move—mostly because there just aren't enough muscles left to hold everything steady without a little extra support... 😬

Sarah Adams48 said:I hear you, feralmoose32, I really do—but the whole point being discussed here is that once you hit thirty, there's this assumption you're "ready," yet everyone’s biology works so differently... I'm certainly not saying I won't run into hurdles, but just because I'm 37 doesn't mean I can't conceive without issues or that my child will automatically have Down syndrome.

You aren't "old" if everything is going smoothly, but if things get complicated—well, time just slips away from you way too fast...

On a side note, one of my close girlfriends actually conceived naturally and had a perfectly healthy baby, no complications at all during the pregnancy—and she was 42! 😉

brighteagle23 said:Nobody actually knows if they'll face problems until they actually try to have a child... and honestly, I don't want to rush into anything just to test my fertility... it's pointless... I'd rather not dwell on those kinds of negative scenarios... I just hope that both I and my partner stay healthy so we can have kids whenever we feel ready...

Of course not, I was just sharing my own experience...😉

I actually think just like you do—even now—it's just that my current situation has shaken my confidence a little bit...

Does anyone know where I can find some decent wedding lighting that won't break the bank?
I've been talking to a few people, but honestly, none of this makes sense to me. They’re listing stuff like dance floor light shows, uplighting for the room, spotlights, bubble machines, fog, lasers... I just want something simple that actually looks good. No lasers, no fog machines, and as for the rest, I don't even know what's worth the money. Everyone seems to expect me to have all the answers... :-)
I could use some help here...
Thanks

In my humble opinion, if you have already decided to splash out a little cash on this stuff, the best bang for your buck is definitely the stage lighting. It really elevates the whole vibe—people tend to loosen up once the bright house lights go down, and it just looks so much better visually...
As for everything else—well, it really just comes down to how much you want to spend versus how much music you're playing. 😉

Unfortunately, life doesn't always line up quite the way we hope—and more often than not, it’s completely out of our hands

To give you a bit of my specific story:
I spent ten years of my life with a man who wasn't exactly supportive of me seeing my child—after a long relationship and a very brief marriage, I ultimately decided to walk away, and honestly, looking back, I'm so relieved we didn't have children together during that time.
I was thirty at the time, just starting over from scratch...
Two years later, I met my current husband, and the more I got to know him, the more I realized he was truly "the one" for me.
We moved in together after just a month of dating, started planning a wedding after a year, and once we tied the knot two years later, we naturally began the conversation about having kids.
We had discussed it before, and our visions for parenthood were perfectly aligned, of course 🙂
But we’ve recently entered much more serious discussions because, well, things haven't happened naturally—plus, both he and I are aware that we face some little hurdles along the way.
About a year ago, we made the decision to seek medical help.
And oh boy... between getting all the tests done, trying out those first rounds of Clomid, waiting for an appointment for IVF, praying the stars would align, and dealing with this and that... basically, nothing has worked since we started the first round of fertility treatments.
We’re heading in for a second procedure this September, and if that doesn't work within a few months, we'll move on to a third—by then, I’ll already be 36.

So, that's how it goes—just when we want it most, and right when everything seems perfect—financially, mentally, the timing feels ideal, the stars are finally aligned—our own bodies just seem to pull the rug out from under us.

I’m not saying it wouldn't be different if I had started treatment at 25—maybe it would have been—but if I had, I probably would have reached a point at age 30, after five years of unsuccessful attempts, where I could say, "That's enough, let's look into adoption."
Now, I don't really have that luxury, because by then, I'll be too old for the adoption process...

Go ahead and send it over! A close friend of mine is actually getting married in about two years—can you believe it?—and they’re still trying to wrap their heads around all the logistics... this would be such incredibly helpful info for them to have 😉
thanks

Richard Myers13 said:Well, thanks for the suggestion, feralmoose32!😍 We certainly have the option to bring our own treats, but honestly, I’m just not in the mood to wander all over town testing out different spots—especially since sweets aren't really my thing anyway. Since we're deciding between M&M's and Sugarman, let's just go with Sugarman.

You guys definitely made the right call

Does the price include both the cookies and the cake, or is it just for the cake?

Richard Myers13 said:We’re definitely going to go with that fondant. We have Sugarman handling all our cakes and pastries, so now we just need to nail down which specific cake we want since it’s already part of the menu. My husband isn't exactly a huge fan of fondant—he’s more of a traditionalist—but I absolutely love it! Since we usually end up eating cake at weddings anyway, he can stick to the classic sponge while I indulge in the fondant. It seems like a pretty quick way for us to reach an agreement on the dessert situation! 😍

Oh boy, now this is something a little different...

I really have to brag just a little bit—I’m basically the one responsible for finally getting Trajbar and Sugarman to team up... it was quite the feat, actually... 😍

The owner actually tried their cakes and pastries for the very first time at our wedding—she was absolutely floored by them, and well... there you have it! 🙂

I’m personally not a fan of fondant
—though I have to admit, there’s something quite charming about a cake dressed up in fondant if the execution is actually done right...

Nathan Cox25 🤣

Well, that could work too...
And honestly, sometimes you don't even need much—just a tiny tweak to the recipe, like swapping out the heavy cream for a different brand at Walmart, and suddenly everything feels just a little bit different... 🤷

Karen Grant9 said:I should also mention that I had these incredible mignon pastries at a wedding once. We actually ordered them again for Christmas to see if they lived up to the hype, but they were an absolute disaster... honestly, it was like they weren't even the same treats. I just don't get it.

nothing unusual here

I remember being at a birthday party once and having what I thought was the best ganache cream cake in the entire world...
I think I managed to polish off four slices myself! 🙈

Then, about a month later, there was a christening for my goddaughter's little one, and I decided to order that exact same cake... well, let's just say it wasn't quite the same... it was way too heavy on the sponge and lacked that creamy goodness, but oh well, I ate it anyway...

Fast forward six months, and I’m out tasting cakes for my own wedding, and I head back to that same place to try their selection—including that one—and... nothing like it. It didn't even resemble the second cake, let alone the first one...

It’s actually a bakery called Piece of Cake that I was totally obsessed with two years ago... I really have no idea what happened to them in the meantime... 🤷

Jeffrey Barnes16 said:I really have to give a shout-out to Walmart. They were an absolute lifesaver at the eleventh hour—especially after my total meltdown involving a former pastry chef who decided to change our entire agreement just three days before the wedding. Honestly, I was right on the verge of a nervous breakdown because of it. Anyway... everyone was raving about the desserts, and I actually found myself heading back there for more sweets even after the big day was over. Now, finally, I can embrace the extra pounds without any guilt. 😉

👍

honestly, they're the absolute best 😍

I honestly feel like your friend might be playing a dangerous game with her health here ☕
I mean, sure, she might be looking for that certain look—maybe some curves or whatever—but there’s a real chance she could end up dealing with unwanted hair growth, cellulite issues, or even mess up her cycles and ovaries... who knows how deep the rabbit hole goes...
Personally, I never touch anything—not a single supplement or pill—without sitting down with my doctor first and getting all my bloodwork done, so I’d probably suggest she takes the same cautious approach

Zachary Price2 said:I actually spent some time flipping through the Mississippi Delta dessert catalog, and I have to admit, their cakes look absolutely stunning on the outside. I was seriously considering placing an order because their prices seemed pretty reasonable, too. But honestly, every single person I mentioned them to ended up spitting them right back out, claiming they just use those cheap, pre-made boxed mixes for the batter and the frosting and then just toss in some flavoring to mask the taste. At this rate, I'm going to end up completely losing my mind over cake.

I actually had one of their cakes at a birthday party recently—picked up at a local Walmart—and I was genuinely surprised by how good it was... it was delicious, actually 👍

So, does that mean they don't put the same effort into their wedding cakes?
At least, I would hope they wouldn't... 🤷

Well, if you really want to get to the bottom of things, maybe just head over to a local park or a farmers market one Sunday morning—you know, somewhere like Central Park or a similar spot—and just ask around there? If my memory serves me right... I think they usually have those little information booths or vendor stands set up on the weekends, so that might be your best bet...
