Why are Gillette razors so expensive? in Miscellaneous ·
Thomas Mendoza45 said:I've got pretty thick facial hair, and those double-blade razors last me at least five shaves.

Are you using foam or soap? If you're shaving "dry," those blades are going to die after maybe two uses. Using foam or soap doesn't just protect the blade; it makes the whole thing way more comfortable because it actually softens the hair properly.

For me, using a gel makes the blades last the longest since it provides better glide than foam, though I find foam feels a bit nicer on my skin... so it really just comes down to what you prioritize.😉 It's still technically a lathering process, but the texture is different—thicker and much more slippery.

Look, I have a thick beard; I’m not one of those guys with three hairs on his face. I honestly can't wrap my head around someone using a disposable just once.🤷
Maybe for someone like you, buying an electric trimmer would be the smartest move... though personally, I'm not a huge fan of them either (great for trimming, but not for a clean shave).

Thomas Mendoza45 said:I have to disagree with you completely.

Personally, I decided to experiment a bit to find the best balance between quality and price.

Standard two-blade razors get the job done, but they just aren't comfortable. They've been around since $0.33 and let's be honest, by the second shave they start pulling and irritating the skin.

Those Wilkinson or Gillette ones with three blades cost about 8-$$3.25 and only last maybe 3 to 5 uses... that's way too much money for a piece of plastic with three mediocre blades.

But then I found this Mach3 alternative—I call it that in my DMs and even at Target—for about $13 and it actually has five blades. It feels substantial in your hand, just like the M3, and once you buy the handle, you're just buying refills. A pack of four refills is roughly $13, and I've had mine for over a year. One refill lasts me at least 3 or 4 months depending on how often I shave, since I don't do it every single day...

It's definitely more cost-effective and provides a smoother shave than those overpriced plastic disposables.

I use those Gillette disposables with three blades, and one will easily last me a month or more—never less—even though I shave 2 or 3 times a week. So it's not daily, but it's definitely way more than 3 to 5 uses per blade.😉
And I've noticed the blue ones seem to last longer than the red ones, though who knows why.

I agree that the basic two-blade ones are much more irritating, but I don't think it's just the blade itself; it's because the head doesn't pivot.

I used to use a Mach3, but the blades didn't last any longer than these disposables, so I switched. I grab the 6-pack and I'm set for over half a year without spending much. It’s definitely pricier than your method, but still less than $33 a year.

My old man used that "Mach3 alternative," but he ran into a wall pretty fast—it became impossible to find the replacement blades, so he was just left with a useless handle. Not everyone lives in a major city near a CVS or a Target, keep that in mind.😉

What can I say? To each his own. The point is there are plenty of cheaper alternatives to the Mach3 and those high-end versions, but everyone wants the absolute best and then complains about the price. :P
You definitely don't need five blades, especially if you aren't shaving every day or dealing with a massive beard. And that vibrating Gillette thing... I honestly don't see the point.

They aren’t even expensive if you actually make them last... those "disposables" can easily get you through more than a month.
And honestly, if you go out and buy some fancy Mach3 or whatever high-end number they're pushing now, you're just throwing money down the drain. These basic disposables do a perfectly fine job.

What I really can't wrap my head around is why eyeglass frames are so damn overpriced. You're looking at hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars for a tiny bit of plastic or metal. Compared to that, Gillette is practically free.
What’s with everyone acting like kids? They all want to be rockers when they should've just stuck to those catchy pop tunes that sounded more like nursery rhymes than anything else from the rock era :P
I was around second or third grade when the Spice Girls blew up, and I absolutely loved them. 😁 My sister was big into BSB, so we basically covered both the girl and boy bands back then. 😁
The first "cool" band I actually listened to was Bloodhound Gang—that was right toward the end of elementary school, haha.

Regarding the post above mine—Kojot + Viduka were seriously awesome. I remember being totally obsessed with "trese lupa udara" at one point. 🙂

Actually—it's more like a month, not two.😉 They grow up fast and just head out. Sure, the parents might feed them for a bit longer, but they definitely aren't stuck in the nest by then.
But yeah, when they're tiny, there's zero chance of spotting them unless you live right next to a nest or stumble upon one that fell out. :/

Btw, what you found was already a "teenager" pigeon. When they first hatch, they look like this :P (this is what they look like after a few days; honestly, I won't even show you what they look like literally the first day they hatch, haha).

Yeah, a buddy of mine actually had his kid born on a balcony—happened more than once, too.
If you’re curious, go ahead and Google it, though it’s definitely not a pretty sight, haha.
Actually, if you want, just shoot me a DM and I can send over the photos my friend took. :P

Prices are higher here too, but right now it’s on sale for 43% off 😉

My mom actually has one and she absolutely loves it. It cleans everything in sight—floors, windows, kitchen cabinets...
Dealing with a toxic friend? [Advice needed] in Miscellaneous ·
That’s exactly my point—you only fight if you're backed into a corner, but there's zero reason to go looking for trouble. I honestly don't get how anyone finds this stuff entertaining; it isn't funny, it's just dangerous. You'd think by 25 someone would have grown up a bit, but some people just never hit that mental maturity milestone.
You know better than anyone how to handle your own business, and it's stupid of me to even weigh in, but I know exactly what I'd do if I were in your shoes. You'll run into plenty of different people throughout your life anyway; eventually, you just drift away from some of them, meet new crowds, and that's just how it goes.

Forget him. What kind of friend drags you into a fight he started and then acts offended because you won't jump in to defend him?! On top of that, he makes everything awkward by picking fights with people who haven't even done anything to him... being drunk isn't an excuse for any of it. Look, everyone overindulges sometimes, but getting so hammered that you lose all control? That’s stuff you only see in teenagers going through a rebellious phase.
You don't need toxic, aggressive people in your life, and neither does anyone else. If he wants to hang out with his buddy the Russian if they're both just like that, let him. You can definitely find better friends than that.
Are you guys saving up right now? in Miscellaneous ·
You can actually build up some decent cash just by hoarding every single coin you get. I make it a point to grab every bit of change from the register when I'm out shopping—even if it’s just a couple of pennies, don't leave them sitting on the counter.
I never carry loose change around; I pay with bills and then dump whatever coins I get back straight into a jar the second I walk through my front door. Some days it’s more than $3.25, other days it feels like I'm just collecting nickels, but the key is to keep stuffing that jar. After a few months, I take it to the bank and I always walk away with at least $133 (once I actually hit about $200). If you use a bigger jar, obviously it takes longer to fill up, but you'll end up with a much larger 😉. At the end of the year, this little habit nets me at least $333.

Look, I'm not saying this is going to make you rich or provide some massive financial safety net, but having an extra 😉 never hurts.

I don't know much about any of their solo stuff, but man, that track with the girls on the lawn is absolute fire.🙂
I've been scammed by everyone. in Miscellaneous ·
I wouldn't say I'm totally alone—I have a couple of friends who would show up for me in a heartbeat if things went south. They’re great people, honestly, but the issue is they can be incredibly judgmental about the changes I make. Sometimes it feels like they're trying to micromanage my life, and frankly, it’s suffocating. I spent a long time trying to play by their rules just to keep the peace, but I’ve realized I have to prioritize myself. If they can't accept me for who I am, there isn't much more I can do.
At the end of the day, your own self-satisfaction is what matters most. If you aren't happy with yourself, even a huge circle of friends won't fix that. Just be yourself. When I started making my own moves, there was definitely some blowback and a few heated arguments, but eventually, people realize that your life belongs to you and everything settles down.
So what if they hate your new haircut or that jacket you bought? As long as you love it, that's all that counts. If they happen to like it too, great. If not, who cares? You didn't do it for them; you did it for you.

And please, stop stressing over feeling obligated to hang out with people just because they're family or childhood best friends. If you don't vibe with them, why force a connection that leaves everyone feeling miserable? People will judge you and ask how you could be so "cold," but you choose your inner circle based on personality and shared values, not just because you share a last name or grew up on the same block. I'm not saying you have to pick a fight or cut them off completely—you'll still see them at Thanksgiving or weddings—but you don't have to be inseparable.

Spend more time focusing on yourself and less time worrying about what everyone else thinks. No matter how "perfect" you try to be, you’ll never satisfy everyone, so why even bother? Once you actually get comfortable in your own skin, you'll learn to enjoy your own company. Read a book, watch a movie, hit the gym, or dive into a hobby. You won't feel lonely or bored, and you won't need to rely on five Starbucks runs a day just to feel okay.
