Eric Robinson13 said:That’s the issue when you have so many different cake flavors to choose from... you want to try them all... but after a massive wedding feast, it's a miracle if you can even stomach one more slice. Though I guess the bride and groom probably eat at least a little bit...

It's true—I didn't even finish half my entree, and don't even get me started on that morning breakfast chili (it smelled incredible, but I couldn't bring myself to take even a single bite)

Eric Robinson13 said:Man... those weddings of yours are pretty great.

I only tried the Ferrero Rocher ones, and now I’m kicking myself for not grabbing the whole damn box😍—but then again, those Rocher treats were nothing short of spectacular.🙂
Steven Patel5 said:Of course I’ll keep you guys posted. You’re honestly the only ones I can turn to right now. Thanks so much, everyone!! So, she just told me she used PRIMASTICK, so please tell me—how reliable is that brand? And do the lines have to be super dark, or is it normal if they're a bit faint?

I have to be honest—I’ve never even heard of that brand before, so I haven't the slightest clue about its reliability.😬
I’d suggest she just retakes the test tomorrow morning using her first urine of the day—or, if she wants to stop playing guessing games, she should head straight to a private clinic like Quest Diagnostics and get a proper beta HCG blood test conducted once and for all.😉
Kevin Miller12 said:Since my period isn't due until approximately the 21st, I find myself wondering: would it be premature to attempt a pregnancy test at this stage?

Not just yet... honestly, you're better off waiting until a couple of days after your period was actually supposed to show up—so, say the 23rd or 24th at the earliest.😉

cosmicbison15 said:What kind of cake should we go with? Ours is going to be four tiers high, but I'm still stuck on the flavor profile.😕

Look—you should pick whatever you actually enjoy for the top tier—the one you’ll be slicing and serving most prominently—because, frankly, those are the bites people will remember. As for the other layers? Do whatever you want... just follow your gut. At our wedding, we went with this progression starting from the top: white chocolate macadamia, mousse, hazelnut, and then dark chocolate.😬

Robert Harris43 said:Experienced ladies, how many pounds of dessert should I pick up for 40 guests at an afternoon reception?

It’s going to be somewhere in the neighborhood of twenty pounds—though, let's be honest, that’s a massive oversimplification. Everything hinges entirely on whether we're talking about dry pastries or something heavy and cream-filled. Those two things aren't even in the same universe when it comes to weight.😉
neoncobra43 said:Deep down, I still harbor a quiet hope for a little girl; she'll be my absolute pride and joy.

🤣 Well, I had those same hopes myself, only to end up with a little guy instead😛 ... honestly, as long as they arrive healthy and kicking, that's all that matters—besides, boys usually end up being bigger softies than their moms, and girls tend to take after their dads anyway.😬
neoncobra43 said:When is it actually possible to find out the gender?

They usually say around three and a half to four months—so roughly 14 to 16 weeks—but honestly, I could have guessed mine by week 10😍 because everything was already making its presence known—and my doctor even joked that there was plenty to see already.🤣
I’ve been watching this entire debate unfold—this endless, circular circling of the drain—and frankly, I am exhausted by the sheer lack of foresight being displayed here. It’s the same old story, isn't it? Everyone is shouting, everyone is convinced they have the moral high ground, yet nobody seems to be looking at the actual data sitting right in front of them. It reminds me of those corporate boardrooms in Chicago where executives spend millions on "consultants" just to tell them what they already know—only to ignore the advice entirely because it doesn't fit their immediate ego. We see it happening again and again. People cling to these outdated, rigid frameworks as if they were gospel, refusing to adapt to the shifting reality of the modern American landscape. The cynicism is palpable. You can feel it in every thread, in every argument. We’re essentially watching a slow-motion collision between stubborn tradition and an inevitable, messy future. And honestly? Most people aren't even prepared for the impact. They’re too busy arguing over the semantics of the crash to realize the car is already heading for the wall. It’s predictable, it’s tiring, and quite frankly, it’s beneath us. kaže:
They say women have some sort of superstitious intuition about what they’ll carry—that they can just sense the gender—but honestly, I couldn't care less about those old wives' tales. Even if my dreams haven't given me a single hint yet, I’m making a pretty bold bet here: it’s going to be a boy. Period.

My son just announced he’s getting engaged... Good grief, I am such a fool—standing there looking like a clueless teenager in the middle of a massive identity crisis.🤣

Robert Cook52 said:That’s fair, though it was already "melting" the moment I picked it up from them—being a wedding cake, there was no turning back once it left their hands. Regardless, it doesn't matter now.🙂

😲 well, if that's the case, then things are looking pretty grim😘

Robert Cook52 said:I wasn't happy with them 👎 — as I mentioned, I'll admit the cake tasted fine BUT the decorations 👎 👎 — they were literally melting. On my neighbor's cake, they used pink tulle even though she explicitly asked for white or beige 😲

If the thing was melting, don't blame the pastry chef—blame the restaurant for failing to keep it in the fridge.😉
gentlecanyon92 said:Look, there is basically zero chance you’re pregnant if he didn't finish inside you. Sure, maybe some pre-cum got in there, but even if there's sperm in that, it isn't just going to fertilize you on its own. If it were that easy, infertility wouldn't even be a thing.🙄

This happens to everyone eventually. Your period is likely just late because of stress...

But just buy a test so you can stop worrying. Once you relax, your cycle will probably reset.

If that were actually how it worked, we'd have a massive surplus of teen moms everywhere.😉
The symptoms you’ve listed are textbook indicators of pregnancy—there’s really no other way to slice it—so please, just do what all your girlfriends suggested and take a test to finally put this uncertainty to rest. Once you have an answer, come back and share the good news with us.😘

Robert Cook52 said:Thanks 😘, I'll take a look.
Is there a specific site for online orders? I tried searching Google, but nothing useful popped up.🙄

Don't even bother looking at their stuff online—honestly, it’s a waste of time. In most cases, what you see on their site isn't actually what they carry in the physical store; the inventory is completely different. You're much better off just driving over and browsing the aisles in person.😉

swiftmarlin27 said:This isn't some high-end bakery—it's more like a woman baking at home (if I'm reading him correctly).
I have a similar take when it comes to bakeries myself.

But wait, who ever said anything about commercial bakeries?
Good grief, we’re talking about home bakers—you know, those women who—and let's be clear, not all of them—run small businesses out of their homes. They bake everything: for their own weddings, for their little boutique shops, or even providing desserts for a local hotel's daily menu under contract (I know people who do this firsthand, so I'll clarify that since she didn't explicitly state it).

BTW: I highly doubt they split up—why else would he still be wearing a ring and constantly bringing up his wife?😉

northernhawk87 said:Sam Kim12, I have a feeling we might be looking at this from the wrong angle entirely... 😕 He provided us with a comprehensive list of local bakeries and catering options back then, yet he made a point to mention that "he" also offers homemade treats. Apparently, his wife handles all the baking 🤔 or some variation of that story. It was presented as something very much "his own" specialty. I didn't bother pressing him for more details, though, because honestly, we already have a wife who has been our go-to baker for every single family celebration for years now.

No, no, that's not it at all... they work with these independent pastry chefs who handle the cakes and sweets for their venue in Philadelphia—but there's actually one specific baker who handles the desserts for their hotel bakery over in Spain (plus, their own in-house chefs prep stuff for that bakery too 😉), and lately, they've probably expanded that even further. 👍

swiftmarlin27 said:Just wanted to give a quick shout-out to our resident legend, Ante Šimić—who, let's be honest, seems to be everywhere on this forum lately—for handling the logistics for my wedding over at the Antunović estate.
He actually gave me a call today to check if I’d sorted out the desserts and the cake yet. He offered to pass my number along to a local baker he knows who specializes in wedding sweets—some new boutique setup—so she could reach out to me directly.
I told him, obviously, go ahead, and now I'm just waiting for her to get in touch. Once she does, I'll post the details of the conversation here.
Has anyone else heard from him regarding their plans?

It's nothing unusual—they typically partner up with about three different dessert caterers (maybe even more by now).😉 I think I have a whole list of their preferred vendors tucked away in my inbox somewhere... honestly, I'm surprised he didn't just send that over to you during the initial planning stages.😕

analoggardener51 said:I’ve never personally heard anyone mention that before, but I saw it with my own eyes... so clearly, they weren't lying to me!

That cracking issue really boils down to the specific type of chocolate you're using for the glaze and, more importantly, how you handle it—there’s definitely some kind of trick to it. One major factor is the temperature; if it's too low, the chocolate is just going to snap—it all depends on whether the chocolate is, say, more of a creamy variety.😬

analoggardener51 said:Regarding white chocolate, I've been told by several local bakeries that it just isn't as "flexible" as dark chocolate. It's highly probable that a glaze made from it will crack in certain spots.
I saw this firsthand at a bakery in Cleveland when the clerk pulled a birthday cake out of the cooler that was entirely coated in white chocolate, and the icing was already splitting apart!
So, proceed with caution if you choose white chocolate.

Now, this is news to me... I remember one birthday—not mine, mind you😍—where they used a white chocolate glaze in Vincennes, and honestly, it was absolutely fantastic.
