Besides, Russia isn't cutting off gas supplies, and they sure as hell aren't going to attack NATO countries or Sweden and Finland. There are still people at the top of the Russian Federation and actual sane individuals who realize we all have to live here even after the aggression against Ukraine.
The longer this drags on, the worse it looks for Vladimir Putin. Aside from a few globally insignificant players like Syria or Belarus, nobody’s actually standing behind him.

China is never going to get behind this, and neither is Mexico, because messing with territorial integrity creates massive headaches for them regarding Taiwan. Besides, the Chinese work incredibly well with the West and the USA (regardless of all the political noise), and they definitely don't need an escalation that pulls them into the middle of it. The absolute most Russia can hope to get out of China is some restraint at the Security Council, though even that level of restraint is already telling.

His work in American History X, Primal Fear, and Fight Club? Absolute perfection. It honestly kills me that he hasn't walked away with an Oscar yet, because he earned it. Even in The Score and The Italian Job, he holds his own playing the heavy. Those are two tight, solid crime flicks where he proved he can play a villain better than almost anyone.
It’s a shame he hasn't kept up the momentum with top-tier movies lately, but since he doesn't overwork himself, I’m still holding out hope he’ll land something great and jumpstart his career again. The guy has pure class. In my book, he’s lightyears ahead of some of those other big names from his era who get all the hype.

Anyway, the movie was solid. The plot is pretty gripping. To me, Cusack’s character actually brings to mind that WWII Sorge spy vibe, since both were journalists operating out of Germany and Shanghai—you know, Japan—dealing with the whole Pearl Harbor situation. The cast is top-tier. That Asian ensemble featuring Watanabe, Li Gong, and Chow Yun Fat is fantastic, and the Western side with Cusack leading and Morse in a supporting role holds its own. Like I said, the story keeps you on your toes; you really have to pay attention because things move fast, and if you zone out, you'll miss the details. It’s a quick watch, too—only about ninety minutes—which is impressive given how dense and fast-paced the plot is. I’m not going to sit here and spoil the plot for you; that’s not my style. I’ll just say: go see it. I don't think anyone is going to regret spending an hour and a half on this. It’s genuinely good, and I’m glad I watched it.
With that in mind, I’m giving it a pretty high rating. For me, that’s a big deal. I usually reserve 8s and 9s strictly for the absolute masterpieces, and I can't even remember the last time I actually gave a movie a perfect 10.
