banderas said:...Carnegie Hall is on another level, though. You don't exactly find budget gigs there. Honestly, I was expecting a bigger turnout...

...if you factor in a six-pack, some good prosciutto, and a cute girl from Eastern Europe, then yeah, the ticket price is actually pretty reasonable... 😁

trucidare said:$280, $300, or even $110 (absolute pocket change!!)

...so what, did he tell the promoters he was gonna go off the deep end right after the show? Is that why they jacked up the ticket prices this much??...

...I mean, seriously, tickets for his solo set in Seattle were only like $35, which is basically $90...which means it’d actually be cheaper to just grab a Spirit Airlines flight to catch his solo gig somewhere out in the Midwest...

Austin Doyle40 said:Nick Cave, early June, two days at a venue in New York City, just him with a guitar and a piano reciting poetry and singing...

...usually his solo gigs pull in some members from The Bad Seeds or maybe someone from a band close to his home turf back in the States... for his last couple of solo shows, he had Martyn P. Casey, Jim Sclavunos, and Warren Ellis backing him up...

funkster said:Screw the poetry, just let him sing. 😁 I’ve got Walter White for my poetry fix, plus I'd still have to pay for Nick Cave on top of that. 😲 I'm not showing up unless someone promises me there won't be any poetry reading.

...but what if they promise to play "The Jerking Song" on the quartz?...🙄

...but like, a garden party plus some big bosses or Iggy Pop mixed with Phantasmagoria? Now those actually work together...🙄
The Beatles in Music ·
...I honestly think the album "Love" is their absolute masterpiece...though, if I'm being real, I was always more into those early bands (Southern Death Cult, Death Cult) that eventually morphed into The Beatles...It’s pretty wild that before Billy Duffy joined Death Cult and later The Beatles, he was actually playing with Morrissey in a band called The Nosebleeds...

...I caught The Beatles live back in '93, playing as the opening act for Metallica in Vienna, and man, I gotta say, they absolutely crushed their set, even though they were totally getting wrecked by the restless crowd just waiting for their metal gods to show up...

Look, I'm clearly not even on your level if you're out here rubbing elbows with A-listers constantly. It’s honestly so sweet how you managed to squeeze in a little ego trip while you were at it. 😉

...Fine, whatever. For your sake, I'll go get a cosmetic brain lobotomy just so I can finally forget all those times I ran into celebrities...😉

Where? How?

...back in '99 at the pier...ran into Bucko, chatted about his work on that "Tuatara" project, grabbed a Corona with Mike Mills and Michael Stipe, talked shop for a bit, got my CDs signed, and then headed straight home...

...the show was insane, man. My ears were still ringing so bad the next day I actually ended up napping in a storage closet at the office, hiding behind some filing cabinets like I was hunting down some super important paperwork just to catch some Z's...😁

silentlynx55 said:Honestly, I’ve already accepted that REM probably won't show up. Just look at the math—they need to move 10,000 tickets at $100 per pop, and the show isn't until January. Most people are gonna blow their cash on New Year's Eve or just spend it getting wasted rather than buying a concert ticket. This city (Washington, D.C.) is actually in a killer spot since it's an easy stop for any major US tour, and I was really hoping that after these recent shows being announced, we'd finally see them pull in more big acts. But hey, people's habits speak for themselves, so it likely won't happen.
Luckily, I caught REM live last year, so it would be a massive bummer if they canceled.
The government doesn't do anything to help out with taxes for concerts (or cultural events in general, for that matter).
It’s total nonsense that ticket prices here in America are basically the same as in the rest of the European Union

...I've seen REM live and even met them personally, so on one hand, I'm good... but man, it would suck if the concert got called off... and honestly, the greed from both the government and the promoters deserves its own separate thread...

And I'm definitely not looking to get hitched yet—I'm young, so that's not on my radar for a while.
But seriously, please, I gave you actual NUMBERS as an argument, and all you can talk about are movies and whatever other random vibes you're feeling.

Best, from a single lady

...well, coming from some bottom-tier lawyer, I wasn't expecting anything besides actual facts anyway... so why don't you go ahead and give me some hard math to back up that amount of money lost on those unreturned Rolling Stones and Metallica tickets...

shoutout from "Crnaricev advokatica" who really wishes she could catch R.E.M. for $33 and maybe treat the whole forum crew to a round of drinks with $200.

Man, I’d love for them to show up, but I feel like such a jerk being this skeptical and totally hating on Uncle Note-Kaida-Bina-Crnarić-Impresarija! 😁 😁

I mean, for sure his forum lawyer—that user elena2404—is gonna jump in to defend him. She honestly thinks he’s as clean as a whistle after a heavy-duty wash with Ariel Color, but she clearly has no clue that Mr. Muscle is actually the one doing the dirty work.😁 ...oh, and by the way, those product shout-outs aren't sponsored or anything... just saying.
