Ballet in America in Hobbies & Leisure ·
I’ve been a huge fan of Ballet (and Modern Dance, since they’re pretty similar) ever since I saw Grace Kelly, the first American dancer of that style, performing on TV. Because of that, I was wondering if anyone knows if there’s an instructor for this dance anywhere in the US? I'm looking for actual classes, not just some random workshop that lasts a few days or weeks.
I would be super grateful for any info!

And don't forget: watch the portion sizes and stay active—even just hitting a brisk walk for 30 minutes, five days a week, makes a difference. 🙂

But look, that’s the whole issue—I already eat barely anything... I honestly hate eating and if I could just stop altogether, I would 🙄. It's not like I'm suddenly going to lose control once I start eating.
Still, I was eating way more carbs over the summer and I actually weighed less than I do now; how is that even possible, I mean, seriously? 😢

placidfox55 said:Well, you pretty much diagnosed yourself. You aren't eating any vegetables, soups, or salads; you're living on Cocoa Puffs, meat, potatoes, and bread. And maybe a little extra on top.

You're basically just fueling up on carbs, so it's no wonder the scale moved.

Try flipping the script: load up on veggies and fruit, grab some low-fat dairy like yogurt or cottage cheese, and stick to light proteins like chicken, turkey, or fish. Then see what happens! 🙂 😎

Well, when it comes to meat, I pretty much just stick to chicken.

And maybe get out for a little stroll... honestly, try not to overdo it with the bread or all that sugary stuff

But the thing is, I barely eat anything at all 😂 , so I have zero clue where this extra pound or two is coming from.
Today, I had Cocoa Puffs for breakfast, had maybe a few spoonfuls of corn and peas for lunch, and then dinner was just two tiny stuffed cabbage rolls with a bit of mashed potatoes (I had to eat something slightly substantial since I basically fasted all day).
🙄 🙄 It’s driving me crazy, I just want my old weight back, damn!
I’ve pretty much skipped lunch lately because I can't find the time with college classes, but I can't just stop eating meals entirely because I still need to actually eat.
I hardly touch bread, except maybe making toast for dinner. I don't really eat fruit (except mandarins sometimes), vegetables (aside from potatoes), or fish, and I definitely don't do red meat or anything fatty. I don't snack either—what even is that? 🤷 I rarely have pasta, though I might occasionally, and I never eat salads or side dishes with my meals; I usually leave at least something on my plate, etc., etc.

Look, I don't really need to work out or anything. Everything feels pretty firm on me and I'm nowhere near being overweight. Still, it's just weird... I think I actually ate more over the summer, yet I was lighter back then than I am right now. Brrr! 🤷

🙄 It’s honestly unbelievable, but I somehow managed to gain three pounds in what feels like just a week, and I have zero clue why. I’m looking for some suggestions on how to get back to my usual weight. 😢 I really don't eat much, just three meals a day. Breakfast is usually just Cocoa Puffs, lunch is typically some meat—like, one small portion—and potatoes, and then dinner is two slices of bread with something on them. I don't do snacks, fruit, or veggies. No fish, no red meat, no soup, no salads, nothing fried... basically nothing else.
🤷
Sorry if this is in the wrong spot, maybe this doesn't actually belong under Health...

Yeah, I actually thought the exact same thing. It’s just one of those old-school nicknames people use for discharge; even my mom calls it white wash. 😬

👎 I honestly can't stand my nose. It really messes with my confidence, and I’d love nothing more than to just get it fixed, but I don't know... when I hear all these horror stories about doctors and stuff, it just kills the mood. I guess I just can't bring myself to trust anyone! 👎 😲

Honestly, I think this woman was just throwing a fit over that $667 bill, not because her kid was calling erotic hotlines. 😕
I mean, I’d probably pass out if I ever saw a bill for $667... 😲

If she’s always been pale, then I guess it's just normal. I don't really see what the big deal is. At least you can claim you've got that whole aristocratic look going on. 😬 😎

For me, I was just sleeping all day long... but honestly, that’s fine, not bad at all. I mean, what else are you even going to do there anyway? 😁

I don't know, I was throwing up, had some mild amnesia (like, I have zero memory of when they actually woke me up, I just remember waking up in my room) and stuff like that. 😬

And no, I didn't get nose surgery. 😬 I mean, I'd want to, but I'm scared. So, no. 😬

Yeah, but I guess people say it's harder to deal with general stuff.

I guess it depends on when yours actually started, there aren't really any set rules.
Some of my friends saw things start changing around age 7, but then it totally leveled off by 15 or 16. For me, it kicked in at 12, and I think it might still be creeping up slightly—but just a tiny bit.

I’ve been wearing RGP lenses for three years now, and honestly, they've been nothing but great. My prescription is pretty messy with cylinders, so soft lenses just aren't an option for me. I guess I'm actually glad about that, since RGPs let more oxygen through and supposedly stop my vision from getting worse so fast. My eye doctor told me I tolerate them perfectly; when he first fitted me, I didn't even have any tearing or irritation. I haven't touched glasses since I got the lenses, though I really should go get some new lenses made for my updated prescription. That always seems to stay on the back burner, so for now, I just wear my contacts all day. If they bother me at night—which rarely happens, but it does once in a while—then I just take them out and see without them.
Anyway, I highly recommend lenses; they're way better than any pair of glasses!

I caught this at the theater for the first time and I honestly loved it. The lead actress was great, and Michelle P. was absolutely incredible—she actually managed to trick me at first 😬 . All in all, it’s just a really beautiful movie about the mother-daughter bond. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone.
I honestly watched this movie twice and I still can't remember a single thing about it. 😬
Rating: 2/3, nothing special.

Does anyone know where I can actually track down this movie? It’s nowhere to be found in theaters or at the local video rental spots. Does anyone happen to have it on DVD or maybe a digital file?? Anyone?

Drito Konj said:And honestly, I’m so over people asking me, "Are you still playing music, or are you doing something real now?"

😬 Ha ha, it's the same when people ask what my brother studied (they always tack on "law or business," 😬 as if those are the only two things that exist in this world), and then when I tell them he went to conservatory, they all get this look of total shock and awe. "Wow, an artist!" 🤣 😬 Can you believe it? Not a lawyer, not a businessman. 😬 Oh, wait, I forgot doctors too! 🙏 🤣

Drito Konj said:I’ve jammed with classical players a billion times now, and they always get this specific 😲 look on their faces when they realize the whole thing is improvised and nobody is handing them a sheet of music.

Well, okay, fine. I guess you have a point there...

I know plenty of piano players who act like total jerks and don't have a clue about 😬
But generally speaking, I think it's better to just finish college (for any career, really) because at least you walk away with a degree... And if you actually love music, you're going to play whether you're in school or not. You don't need to spend five years letting some cranky professor at a conservatory talk you out of something you actually enjoy 😁 .
