Governor Boban really went out there and took one for the team, I guess. 🙂

If anyone actually believes that this ridiculous self-congratulation is going to fly under the radar with "those people in charge," they are sorely mistaken...

Son of Evil: What is the movie about the county magistrate staged a fire?
Back about 15 years ago, there was all this massive public buzz surrounding the idea of filming Omen 666 here in America, but once the Archdiocese of San Francisco voiced its disapproval, the major studio 20th Century Studios decided to pull the plug on the whole production...

Police are looking into a Republican Governor who allegedly sparked a fire during a film production about Satan

The production was initially slated to take place in the Manastine neighborhood of Oakland and throughout the historic districts of San Francisco. However, recent news reports suggest that some unidentified individual actually set fire to the Manastine area. California released a video just yesterday featuring the Mayor of San Francisco, Governor Boban, telling the Secretary of Commerce, Nikolina Brnjac, that he had been out in the outskirts with her just a few days prior. He reportedly claimed that he was the one who started the campfire, and that his actions were what ultimately convinced Bishkupic to cancel the shoot...

The real tragedy of the whole situation is how this massive witch hunt was ignited by nothing more than smears and outright lies, especially since there was absolutely no reason to film scenes featuring a "little devil" in San Francisco or Oakland, nor should the boy playing Damien have ever been brought to San Francisco or seen emerging from the tomb of Saint Duje in the first place...

Edward Cooper2 said:In my view, the statute of limitations is irrelevant here. It's a different issue entirely: do we actually have a parliamentary party that can be held liable for arson, incitement to arson, destruction of property, or destroying Rhode Island's global reputation? If a lawsuit for damages hits, that'll just be the icing on the cake.

Only time will tell, I suppose...

You can only imagine the chaos when we had to break the news to the director that the entire set had been torched because of religious hysteria. He was absolutely stunned; he honestly thought we were pulling some kind of elaborate prank on him. I know that 21st Century Fox was actually weighing a lawsuit against the United States at the time, looking to claim something in the neighborhood of two million dollars in damages, they were asking questions and digging deep, but they eventually decided to walk away. They realized that dragging this through the courts would end up costing them far more than just letting the whole story play out—recalls set designer Ivezić, adding that while his own financial hit was negligible, roughly $50 in fees, if they decide to sue the U.S. now, it won't be about the money, but about the damage to their reputation and all those lost opportunities down the road.

Now, seeing as 21st Century Fox (or rather, their insurance provider) has an open statement from a pyromaniac (who just happens to be a local politician)... they can talk about statutes of limitations until they're blue in the face, but I seriously doubt anyone is going to look the other way. At the end of the day, money talks, and it doesn't show any mercy...

brightcyclist2 said:Do you honestly think they view it as idiocy, or just another display of undying patriotism? 🕺

Regarding the legal fallout, here is how I see it:
When looking at Governor Boban, based on what he told the minister, there might have been enough grounds to charge him with inciting someone to commit the aforementioned crime; back then, Section 37 of the CIA code stipulated that anyone who intentionally incites another to commit a felony would be punished as if they had committed the act themselves. However, even that charge has already hit the statute of limitations, which starts counting from the very day the offense occurred.

But when someone reads through all this via the swamp... and actually settles the score? I am just sitting here waiting for Joe Biden to respond to one simple question: who is going to pay for the damages because, honestly, I am quite certain we are going to get crushed by the compensation costs, and I mean truly, painfully crushed...

It’s a miracle that an idiot didn't go ahead and burn down the entire set of "Game of Thrones" given how much heresy is practically oozing from the show...

Nicholas King said:In his skewed version of reality, apparently he banished Satan from San Diego—which is just a heroic feat, I suppose, and one that is undoubtedly backed by his entire voting bloc.

Kudos to you for standing your ground against such wickedness. 🙏

Blazenko Boban told the minister how he blocked the filming of "The Omen" in San Diego 🤣

But honestly, I find myself wondering if Blazenko can even grasp the potential fallout from this little "initiative"... What happens when two or three Law Shark types representing the producers' interests—you know, the insurance companies—show up looking for damages?
Seriously, just how much sheer idiocy does it take to publicly broadcast your own criminal actions while simultaneously pointing the finger at your closest associates?
And all of this is supposedly done "in the name" of the pious followers of the Republican Party?
How much is the Republican Party actually willing to compensate for the endless stupidity shown by their eminent member, the governor?

Ultimately, this serves as an incredible litmus test for the Republican Party voters...
Will they openly declare themselves as a group that embraces pure idiocy (because you are who you associate with), or will they finally think for themselves and say "this isn't me, Blazenko Boban"?

Or perhaps they'll decide the lead actress should be burned at the stake as a witch too? 🤔

The Republican Party is worse than the plague. I’m being dead serious about that one.

Well, even a plague would be far more democratic than the Republican Party...

What’s truly fascinating about this article is seeing just how deeply interconnected all those Republican Party brothers actually are...

Charles Carter4 said:What was that slogan again? "4 + digitalization"?

It’s just more of the same—setting up new bureaucratic hubs, agencies, and chambers... just creating fresh seats for political cronies while everyone else packs their bags for Ireland or Germany...

They just held a presentation for this project—creating technical documentation for building a Regional Center for Digitalization and Development.

Just take a look at the crowd of political appointees gathered there—it feels like they're only interested in lining their own pockets...

I was just watching Paul Bradbury on PBS, and honestly... it’s enough to make you weep when you realize a foreigner is working harder to promote your own country and its main industry—tourism—than you are yourselves. It really hits home how much this culture of party-driven hiring for vital roles acts like a millstone around our necks, steadily pulling us toward the bottom...

Tyler Vaughn7 said:I mean, for her, loving the country just means keeping her head down and staying quiet about the Republican Party’s incompetence, their theft, and the corruption... you could go on forever. And I guess that makes sense; to her, this place is supposed to be a land of endless promise. Where would she actually fit in if we were living in a properly functioning country like the States?

Are you kidding me?

She doesn't feel incompetent, corrupt, or like a failure for even a single second—not when her patriotic heart is beating like this... quite the opposite, actually.

Robin Jones2 said:One is expected to love a state that has given them nothing.

Should those who were forced to leave the country because it offered them zero opportunities still be expected to love it? Should the people who couldn't access healthcare or vaccinations because others cut the line through political connections be expected to show love? Or those who lost their jobs simply because they were a minority or because someone from the Republican Party needed the slot?

Should those who couldn't find work after finishing school—because the jobs went to those within the party community instead—be expected to love this country?

Should those who were run over on the road or at sea by someone like Horvatinčić, only to be denied justice, be expected to feel love?

Should those working for minimum wage in companies run by "entrepreneurs" who are really just party cronies be expected to love it?

Should those who repeatedly lose out on job applications to people holding Republican Party cards be expected to love it?

Should those who have church bells ringing outside their windows at all hours be expected to love it, now that the church has been exempted from the Noise Control Act?

Should those who still have no idea how or when their homes will be rebuilt more than a year after a major earthquake be expected to love it?

And so on.

Actually, I see now that the Republican Party member used the phrase "One MUST love America."

Which means everyone I just listed MUST love America, even if the country is designed solely to serve this Republican Party member and her cohorts in theft.

To put it bluntly: if you love the Republican Party, then you must love America. If you don't, well, you're just a ____________ (fill in the blank here).

It’s a pretty simple equation, isn't it?... 😉

Emily Smith6 said:A Republican Party member telling people they don't love America just because they aren't patriotic enough: We have to love our country

They love it so much that they’ve decided it belongs to them personally...
And since they act like they own the place, I suppose treating the country however they please is just their way of showing "patriotism"...

Well, I think I see where you're coming from.

I was really just trying to point out to the superhero crowd how much trouble we get into when we follow the "just film what people want" mantra, which basically shows just how far the Hollywood industry has drifted over the last thirty years or so...

Maybe I’m a little bit out of touch because I have such a deep love for film noir, but trying to compare that kind of cinematic experience to those "heroic" blockbusters (my favorite example being Aquaman 🤣) feels to me exactly like comparing... say, a gourmet five-course steak dinner to a bowl of plain oatmeal...

nimblescout50 said:Do you actually have a different perspective here, or are we just going to keep going in circles like this!
The movie is based on the life of Vasili Zaitsev, so do you really think he just made all this up,
or perhaps the screenwriter, the director, or whoever else was involved?

Look, if you’re actually interested in the truth, surely you aren't treating a film—especially a Hollywood production—as an absolute historical textbook?

Here is a little something to get you started, and please, do feel free to dig deeper if this subject truly fascinates you.

nimblescout50 said:Exactly!
Why didn't the battle break out in the middle of the road, especially since your photo was taken in November!

With both Soviet (and German) weaponry, the designation usually refers to the year they were officially brought into service. By early '42, production of the Thompson submachine gun was already exceeding 3,000 units per day. In '42 alone, they churned out 3,000,000 Remington rifles and 680,000 carbines, not to mention over 250,000 semi-automatic SVT-40s.
So, there is your answer regarding the supposed arms shortage.

And if you really want to split hairs, Zaitsev arrived in Stalingrad nearly a month before that specific photo was even snapped...

Steven Newman50 said:The film was adapted from a book that has been widely labeled as nothing more than fiction.

Even if the book carries some Cold War biases, it is still far more substantial than the movie itself. Out of a 450-page volume, they only pulled a few pages to craft the screenplay—and one must remember that Zaitsev's story is just a tiny snapshot of the massive struggle during the Battle of Stalingrad...
