Ugh, I’m almost at the finish line, but I just cannot wrap my head around that damn skull—or rather, that fragment of one. It’s the final piece, but it makes zero sense to me. I thought it might be a skeleton key, but no. A Skeleton Crew isn't it either.
bettie_page said:Since I'm not exactly an expert on A$AP, I'll just say I'm impressed...🙏

Damn, I really should have mentioned myself. 😵
bettie_page said:Does that mean there was actually someone who didn't need any hints? 😲 Imagine that...

Probably A$H. 😁

Lollipop-man—don't say his name in front of a mirror.
Granny—what is she doing?
Bug-man—it's a newer movie. Those creatures are actually in the title (kind of like Donnie Darko)...

Thanks, but I honestly don't see how Lollipop has anything to do with a Clive Barker film. 🤔 Oh...
I get it now.

The Granny is all set...
What about that giant baby movie? I’ve checked out They Live, basket case, and Rosemary's Baby, but none of them hit the mark. What about The Brood?

Yeah, it's a solid film, though I have to admit it's pretty brutal. I'm still stuck on that lollipop guy—I thought it was Eraserhead, but then I saw the guy with the eraser and realized my mistake. Creature from the Black Lagoon is just too easy. And the scene from the window... but those bugs attacking the old woman really get to me; I thought it was The Swarm starring Michael Caine.
Dr. Miller said:Do you remember that tunnel in the bottom right corner? I can't quite place it...

Neither can I. It definitely wasn't Death Tunnel. I might try Daylight with Sylvester Stallone or maybe Mimic...
David Price5 said:Is there another word besides "bug" for a liquid (orange juice)? You love that movie...

Well, damn, 🙏 🙏 🙏 That was actually brilliant. 🙏 🙏
David Price5 said:Translate that as "bugs and fluids"...

"Bugs fluid"? That movie doesn't exist... 🤔 Yeah, those stairs are killing me too. I thought it was Jacob ladder, but clearly not.
The only thing getting on my nerves is that bug in the glass jar.... 😵

17 out of 35 minutes. 😳

Gritty? Please. Who doesn't love a gritty film, especially when you're still processing a scene a few days after the credits roll...

Exactly, like Memento. 🙏 🙏 🙏

Alexander Morris25 said:I was actually doing the same thing yesterday, scouring the local video rental shops for a few copies of Angel Heart. It's wild that they don't have it! I haven't seen it myself, though I've heard great things—you've definitely put it on my radar...

Also, finding it at a rental shop will be an uphill battle since it’s an older title. Still, it's absolutely worth the hunt for that unforgettable sex scene, the brilliant twist, and Robert De Niro's demonic performance. The plot is quite dense, too; you might need a couple of viewings to fully grasp everything...

Yep, a sequel is coming soon, bringing back all those characters from the first one. 🙏 🙏 🙏

Both Angelina Jolie and Jessica Alba are in the cast.

Have you even seen Angel Heart?

Sin City is easily one of the greatest comic book adaptations ever made.🙏 🙏 🙏Mickey Rourke was already a legend, but this film cemented his status...🙏 🙏

Alexander Morris25 said:I’d also throw in a few years of that old South Korean classic Shiri, or maybe the French film Brotherhood of the Wolf, or even some Almodovar... those rank much higher on my list of quality cinema.
It isn't all just American crap; I just think if you're actually hunting for true art, you have to look past the summer blockbusters.
How can you avoid it when the marketing is so omnipresent and aggressive? Nobody cares about actual quality anymore, they just want something flashy or mindless entertainment...

Please. There are decent ones, like X-Men 2. 🙏 🙏 🙏 I've watched that one fifteen times already—the action, the direction, the cast, the plot, the whole superhero vibe is executed perfectly. My only real gripe is how they handled Ladystrike and the lack of that iconic comic book dialogue, but it's still an excellent film. Whenever I need a spark for my own writing, I just revisit that scene where Pyro starts tossing spheres at those first two cops and tearing through the vehicles while Rogue drains his energy. 🙏 Then you have things like The Savior, Finding Nemo, or Spike Lee.

Is it actually true that all the decent cinema lately is coming from outside the States? Australia gave us gems like Zombie and Wolf Creek, then there's British Descent and Dog Soldier, the South Korean series Oldboy, that Thai shitter and Ong Bak, plus the French with Doberman, City of Lost Children, and Delicatessen, or the Spaniards with Day of the Beast, not to mention stuff like Doggy Love and your mother too... even we Americans are outclassing our own domestic productions when it comes to quality...

So, does IMDb actually claim it’s just an X-Files clone? 😁 I really need to track down that series at some point... 👍

Well, I found myself overthinking this now that we've reopened this old debate. It's always the same trope—when people plummet from great heights, they inevitably land on a car, totaling the vehicle, yet somehow nobody else gets hurt except the person falling. That's why Get Carter was such a standout; when Jimmy Carter tossed that heavy guy onto a car in the parking lot, he actually crushed two people inside... 😁

Kevin Scott37 said:Deer Woman, or rather Helen, the seventh episode of the Masters of Horror series. Definitely one of the wildest pieces of deer-themed trash horror I've seen lately... 😍 😍 🤣
Give it a watch if you haven't... 👍

Do you have any stills? 🙂 🙂 🙂

crimsonmoose3 said:Boring? It lasts about... what... forty seconds? And it isn't supposed to be entertaining; you have the rest of the movie for that.
It’s actually an incredibly intimate, raw mother-child moment. Without that specific scene, the whole thing would just be some pretentious mess of Latin dialogue and sudden jumpscares featuring deformed kids, like some low-budget horror flick. That would have been boring. ☕

I realize it’s only 40 seconds long, but that scene is so masochistic that you’re practically counting down the moments until it's over. Only someone completely unaccustomed to intense cinema would find it unsettling.

I know this thread has popped up before, but why not? This whole movie section is a mess anyway...

It’s a classic trope, isn't it? In every single horror movie, the car engine just refuses to turn over when it matters most. 😂 😂 😂
If anyone actually knows of a horror film where the protagonists manage to start their car on the first try, please, enlighten me. 🙏 🙏
