Jose Chase2 As stated by Jose Chase2:
I’m thinking about a marathon—the original trilogy plus that "Within the Woods" prequel... 🙏🙏
And to top it all off—it was basically The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, with three hours of nothing but people trashing Spider-Man... 🙏
Sure, you save up for the home theater and a decent subwoofer. Let Netflix handle the movies, let IKEA handle the layout, and I’ll just sit back and wait for you two to get it all finished... 😈 😁

🙂 You clearly missed the part where Jose Chase2 is on our side, rooting for that Evil Dead II petition at AMC...
Joshua Johnson67 said:SIGN THE PETITION!!11😁 😁 😁
Sure, that would be great. A subwoofer hitting a cinema screen, an anthology scene featuring a chainsaw arm amputation... All of New York City would hear Ash screaming and the sound of that saw... 🙏 🙏 😁
Ethan Richardson3 said:I honestly lose it whenever I’m at AMC Theatres and hear some heavy bass during a scene—like a cavalry charge or something similar. My whole body starts shaking, and it feels like everyone else in the theater is feeling it too, because those subwoofers are just way too aggressive. 🙏 🙏
Heh, I was actually just thinking about how great it would be if they played Evil Dead II at the local AMC...
Jose Chase2 said:Look, kid, that movie isn't even that scary. Besides, everyone’s wired differently; what creeps one person out won't touch another, whether it's in real life, on screen, or in a theater.
Truth is, just like with Evil Dead II—some people find it hilarious while others are terrified. Personally, I don't find anything involving The Exorcist particularly scary; they just feel unconvincing to me. 👎
The Thing is the ultimate horror. The claustrophobia, that creeping paranoia where you can't trust anyone because you aren't even sure they're still human, the tension, and then all that gore and those twists...
Nicholas Sullivan49 said:So, did you actually read that King book??? It’s a hell of a read...
Of course I did. 👍 Look, the book is solid, but that twisted scene involving child abuse in the sewers was just stomach-turning. 👎
Dwyane Wade said:I can't remember if it was a movie or a series: anyway.
Just some clown. I remember having nightmares for an entire year after seeing it... I was only 6 or 7 at the time...
IT—like I mentioned earlier, you aren't the only one who was spooked by it. 😱
Bad omen—that actor picks up a discarded knife, then a rope snaps from above and a shard of glass drops, slicing his head right off. It hits the storefront window and shatters. I remember watching that gruesome scene when I was just a kid...
Evil Dead II — basically the whole movie
Thriller — that music, the zombie animation, and then that sudden jump scare right after everything goes dark in the shadows
2. The mirror scene — Ash Williams trying to compose himself just as his reflection lunges out at him...
3. When the tape recorder starts playing those lines: "I dragged her down the stairs and I buried her, God forgive me, I buried her in the BASEMENT!" And then the witch bursts from the ground... 😱
4. And the first truly terrifying scene ever: that blonde girl pierces through the savage and drags him toward the basement where the witch pops up and slowly pulls him under. Poor guy is screaming, clawing at the wooden floor, desperate to escape while she hauls him by the legs; his head is already in the basement, the witch is pulling him in, and blood starts spraying everywhere along with that choking sound... Absolutely brilliant, wild, and terrifying
5. When Ash Williams hits the tree and faceplants into the mud, looking like he’s going to drown before it turns out to be ....
It’s strange that nobody mentioned IT — that scene with the old lady and the poisoned tea is pure horror...
And one trashy flick Korban — it’s silly because it’s just a standard ultra-violent slasher, but I actually got chills: a severed head in a cereal bowl, a face smashed into a toilet, slicing skin around the eyes with a knife, shoving a head onto deer antlers, a demon behind a white hospital curtain....
Dead and Buried — that shocking moment when the nurse approaches the poor journalist—wrapped up like a mummy because they burned him alive—and jams a poison injection directly into his one remaining eye in a tight close-up
And lastly, some movie I can't recall — an old-school horror, a taxidermied deer head on the wall, eyes rolling back, and then a shotgun emerges from its mouth to blast someone in a crowd and start a rampage.
Clash of the Titans — I was just a kid, so the entire thing was terrifying; Medusa, the Kraken, Cerberus, demons, scorpions...
And one more: The Beastmaster — that scene where the protagonist enters this place and finds a cauldron with a human head inside, only to release a dwarf who starts running as some creature covers itself in its own "skin" and spits acid at him...
Michelle Ramirez20 said:The book was written by Philip K. Dick and it’s genuinely wild. The guy also wrote "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" which became "Blade Runner," plus "Minority Report," and several other stories adapted into films, like "Screamers" and "Total Recall." I definitely recommend it. It’s been published here in the States under the title "A Scanner Darkly," though I can't recall the specific publisher. It offers a pretty decent depiction of the "junkie" community and addiction, though it doesn't lean too heavily on sex or violence... it isn't the primary focus. I assume they couldn't quite avoid showing those elements in the movie.

Thanks. I know a fair amount about this author; I've watched Total Recall and Blade Runner (that unforgettable scene where Harrison shoots that girl in the back while she's running) dozens of times, and Screamers once. Now I know exactly what I'm reading over the next few days... 🙏 🙏 👍

Just so you know, I actually sat through "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" at home for a second time recently. Honestly, going to the theater was just a massive headache thanks to the idiots sitting around me. I’ve already mentioned this in another thread...
At home, I actually have peace. I get to choose exactly what I feel like watching and when. Plus, I'm usually watching on a screen about 7 feet wide with a sound system that's frequently better than anything you'll find in a multiplex.
What else is there? Is it just nostalgia for those days when high-end home theater setups were out of reach for the average American?...
Exactly. The most infuriating thing about theaters is when some lady decides her toddler—who can barely talk, let alone read—needs to watch an epic fantasy film meant for adults. She ends up reading the subtitles to him while he keeps peppering her with questions about why the dwarf killed that guy or why the river flooded the valley. It's enough to make you lose your mind...🤮
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0405296/ - I'm not sure, but let me know when you find out. I'm curious about the cast—Woody Harrelson, Winona Ryder, Keanu Reeves, Sean Allen...
Who actually wrote the book? I'd really like to know...
They’ll probably push it back to autumn, just like they did with Superman, which isn't coming until September. Figures...
Interesting note: Rated R for drug and sexual content, language and a brief violent image.
The real advantage of using DivX is the significantly better audio quality. Plus, being able to use bookmarks lets you jump straight to a favorite scene and replay it as many times as you want, whereas with a VHS, you’re stuck with the annoyance of rewinding...
darksurfer26 said:Van Damme only really works in the first one. I’m convinced he would have finished the job by the second film if he hadn't been replaced by that lightweight Sasha Mitchell. And honestly, why wouldn't he just finish him? After all, he already handled that woman, that wise old mentor he fought in the bar, and the Black guy who took him home. Why wouldn't he just do it all over again?

darksurfer26 said:Look, Jean-Claude Van Damme absolutely wrecked him against the wall, so what’s the issue? He even took off those glass-studded gloves because he actually has some integrity. Besides, you really think Tong Poa is any tougher to handle than that effeminate Russian guy in The Punisher? Have you seen the size of that man? He kicks through structural pillars, and word is he's on drugs, too. It’s a story about revenge, sure, but it’s also about forgiveness... if you follow me.
I can't stand these damn "good guys." If he were actually authentic, he would have kept the glass gloves and killed the God inside him. And forgiveness? You might find it easy to forgive someone if they just bumped into you, but not if they maimed your brother and assaulted your girlfriend. I would have finished him right then and there, effectively ending the cycle of terrible sequels...
darksurfer26 said:Look, it’s actually pretty good. 😁 Did you see how he absolutely wrecked that palm tree? And that finale where he just dismantles the evil overlord who snatched his girl... 😁 A true warrior for justice, man. Just a pure warrior... 😁 😁
And The Punisher fights for justice too, just with much more efficiency. If Jean had finished off Tong in Kickboxer, we wouldn't be dealing with him violating the woman again in the third or fourth sequels. He did it to her in the first one and hurt her brother, too—he deserved to be crushed. He's just as much of a weakling in Golden Dragon. Total coward...
Bruce Lee is a real fighter for justice: lethal, ruthless, and precise.
redowl90 said:Every movie can be acquired legally—EVERY SINGLE ONE. It’s just that people don't want to deal with the hassle of searching for them, so they just download them from the internet instead...
That isn't necessarily true. In Germany, City of the Living Dead is banned. 😁
And in the United Kingdom, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was also banned—they even went as far as censoring the word "chainsaw." I've written more about that on my blog.
darksurfer26 said:Look, you guys can say what you want. The Punisher is a disaster. I haven’t seen a more poorly executed revenge story in a long time. If you actually want to see a revenge movie, watch Kickboxer (also known as Karate Tiger 2) starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. That’s how you do it.
Please. Kickboxer's Jean-Claude Van Damme is soft... he lacks any real edge. He can't even finish an opponent properly, which is probably why they had to churn out four sequels. Meanwhile, The Punisher just shoots a bullet into someone's face without a second thought. It's lazy...😁
Exactly. You can only really dig up those cult trash gems through DivX, because you’ll never stumble upon them on standard TV, even with satellite service. Plus, tracking down classics like Death Wish is much easier that way than hoping they show up on some random channel.
vidocq said:I don't know how you all feel about them, but I can't stand them. I have a huge collection at home, yet I can't bring myself to watch any of it. To me, they're just killing movie theaters and video rental stores.
If you aren't going to use them, send them my way. 😁
I disagree regarding the destruction of cinema; I see it as progress. There is absolutely nothing worth watching on cable TV these days, which makes DivX files the superior option. At least you get to choose what you actually want to watch...
