Goodyear tires in Formula 1 ·
Tommy said:Are you quite certain about that? Both Rubens and Michael were running 14" front tires, whereas in France they were on 13"... Williams switched to the 14" setup starting in Monaco, and we certainly saw the results on track...

I think you might have it wrong again.

Bridgestone actually produced a 13.5" tire, not a 14".
And if I recall correctly, Rubens was the only one using them—unless, of course, you've come across some information that the rest of us managed to miss...

I think you've got that a bit backwards

I was falling down a rabbit hole of NASCAR algorithms today and stumbled upon some interesting chatter regarding how
Bridgestone apparently ran different hardness levels on their front and
rear setups—specifically using harder compounds up front to combat excessive wear—and how Michelin
was supposedly complaining, leading the FIA to tighten up tire inspections quite heavily.

Could that actually be the reason Bridgestone struggled so much during those previous
races?

And one more thing... I noticed yesterday that Rubens Barrichello was running tires that seemed significantly wider than what Microsoft was using. Is it possible that’s why he was seeing such incredible pace?

Anyway, if I didn't make myself clear, I was merely "poking the bear" with Montoya in that previous post... no need to go on the defensive quite so quickly... 🙄

Are your other kids not letting you play with them, so you have to come over here and troll instead?

I just don't view myself as that kind of die-hard Ferrari fan... 🙂

Point taken. 🙂

Here is Ron Dennis's take on the Mobil 1 United States Grand Prix. If what he’s saying holds water, then Kimi really is a top-tier driver. However, given how things have been going at McLaren lately, I have my doubts about that being the issue; it’s more likely that the telemetry failed them or something similar, leaving them with nothing but bad data.

Why did Bog punish me with a lifelong devotion to McLaren? I feel like Sisyphus.🙂

I mean, if they didn't notice the rear brake assembly had completely disintegrated after tearing the car down (as they claim), then I'm genuinely concerned that a crew with mechanics that incompetent is sitting third in F1... 🙂

Whether we watched it or not, or even if we ever plan to, does it really matter?

Plus, these times aren't even finalized yet...

But when they actually settle on them, here is how the second day looks:

Races leaving Europe in Formula 1 ·
It looks like we’ve already seen races in Belgium and Austria pulled from the schedule due to those ongoing disputes over advertising, making room instead for locations like Bahrain and China where tobacco sponsorships are still welcomed. On top of that, there is quite a bit of chatter about adding India, Egypt, Mexico, and potentially another race in the United States to the mix.

From what I gather, the FIA doesn't see much point in pursuing an EU ban at this stage; after all, if tobacco ads are permitted at certain races, they'll just end up being broadcast right back into Europe on our TV screens anyway. It brings to mind what FIA President Max Mosley mentioned back in March—that implementing a ban starting at the end of the 2005 season might actually trigger a mass exodus from Europe altogether.
Colombian Formula One driver Juan Pablo Montoya was banned from driving on US roads for four months on Tuesday after being clocked 127 miles/h (126 mph) on an American highway.

The 27-year-old, who drives alongside Ralf Schumacher at Williams, was also slapped with a 1,200 dollar fine by a court in San Diego after police caught him speeding back in May while behind the wheel of a Jeep 4x4 vehicle near Los Angeles.

While the ban applies to the US, he can still drive in other countries, and the restriction won't impact his ability to compete in Formula 1 races.

Montoya didn't show up to the hearing personally, but his attorney read a letter on his behalf where he offered an apology for what happened.

It's probably a good thing you don't need a standard driver's license to race in Formula 1, right? :-))))
Minardi buys Arrows-esque chassis in Formula 1 ·
driftingnomad68 said:🙂 🙂

But honestly, I have to ask, what is the actual point
of even having a team like Minardi in the world of Formula 1? 😕 😕 😕

Is it just to make sure they meet the minimum entry requirements set by the Concorde Agreement? :-))))
Montezemolo at the FIA said:Kids, take notes and learn something here... 😉

Honestly, you just have to actually read the rulebook once in a while. :-)))))
(And maybe try to make sense of it too, right? :-)
The FIA under Sergio Marchionne said:I have a feeling they aren't actually allowed to do that...

But here is what is actually permitted:

1. Adjusting tire pressure and performing rebalancing
2. Fluids with a specific gravity greater than 1.1 can be swapped or "drained"
3. Adding or removing compressed gases
4. Tweaking the front wing aerodynamics (as long as you don't add new parts)
5. Accessing the electronics via the physical connectors on the chassis
6. A few other minor things like spark plugs, brakes, the battery...
I can't say for certain, but I have this nagging feeling that when the cars roll up to the starting line, they're actually allowed to make a few last-minute adjustments to things before the green flag drops.

True, and Ralf probably needs to pack his bags too... 🙂

Even though Ferrari keeps insisting they’re perfectly happy with Michael Schumacher, it’s becoming increasingly obvious that he’s having a hard time matching the pace of his younger teammate, Lewis Hamilton. This gap is clearly catching the eye of Toto Wolff, who seems to be scouting for new talent—and Sebastian Vettel looks like the frontrunner for the job. Honestly, Schumacher would probably end up AT Ford if the Italian were to take over his seat at Ferrari.
