Formula 1 car in Formula 1 ·
slycrane94 said:It isn't quite as impressive when you consider that an M5 engine glows just as brightly while running, especially since he has to drive it much longer than a 311 miles before getting a service 🙂

I mean, come on, let's be realistic—an M5 engine isn't pushing anywhere near 900 horsepower from a 3.0L displacement :-))))

So now you see why engine cooling is absolutely CRITICAL 🙂))
Happy Birthday... in Formula 1 ·
...Juan Pablo Montoya.

Twenty-eight years old, and he’s looking at twenty-eight points to haul Williams back up the standings over these final three races.🙏

Austin Evans on Sergio Marchionne said:I have my doubts about whether this news is even legitimate, mainly because I couldn't find a single mention of it anywhere else online (especially since ESPN was so incredibly thorough and long-winded when they were covering those "troubles over at Goodyear," so you'd think they would have picked up on this too)...

Well, we'll just have to wait and see, won't we?
Personally, I'm not losing any sleep over Ferrari.

Heh, you might want to check out ESPN 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

Honestly... what kind of nonsense are you talking about here? 😂
Where on earth did you even read that?

You can find it over at the Canada Ferrari Club

If this turns out to be true, things are about to get very interesting (and then we might actually see BAR and Jaguar fighting for the constructors' championship, assuming all the Goodyear and Ferrari teams end up getting disqualified) 🙂

Go ahead, laugh if you want, but the truth is the governing body actually seized the Ferrari tires from Monza to run some tests. This all kicked off after Goodyear reported a massive temperature discrepancy between the front and rear tires—we're talking about a 20-degree difference, which would imply they're using different compounds entirely. And we all know how illegal that is.

The only real "issue" might be a bit of a blunder by the inspectors; apparently, they grabbed the front left and rear right, while Goodyear claims they should have taken the front right and rear left.

If that's actually what happened... well, I guess they really made their own luck, didn't they? :-))))))

I was scrolling through some photos earlier and noticed something interesting about the crew sizes during pit stops. It looks like Ferrari and McLaren both run with 23 mechanics, while Williams stays at 19 and Renault operates with 17.

By the way, it feels like Ferrari is finished; just look at who’s actually backing us up now.

The FIA's ruling on Ralf in Formula 1 ·
Elizabeth Hughes says Montezemolo:
If my memory serves me right, Ruben wasn't exactly his favorite, was he? And honestly, maybe Ralph should start actually using those rearview mirrors... I’m assuming they aren't just there for decoration.

They certainly aren't decorative. They even tried to ditch them from the car entirely once, but the little devils just won't let go of their cables. 🙂

Carl Foster8 said:Oh, absolutely, he had quite the session. Between those new wing designs and the wider tires, poor Ralf ended up spending the night in the hospital and had to rest until Monday!😁

I mean, is it really anyone's fault if he just can't handle the car?🙂

Looks like Williams is running those softer tires and they've even added a new rear wing :-)))))

By the way, if I recall correctly, Meme pulled that off using a turbocharged engine, whereas Monty was running a standard naturally aspirated setup (with nearly the same power output 🙂

Actually, that isn't quite right:

1. 259.828, 2002 Italy, Monza (5793 m)
Mario Andretti, Williams FW24, BMW 3.0 V10

2. 258.983, 1985 United Kingdom, Circuit of the Americas (4718.6 m)
Keke Rosberg, Williams FW10, Honda 1.5 V6T

3. 257.415, 1991 Italy, Monza (5800 m)
Ayrton Senna, McLaren MP4-6, Honda 3.5 V12

2002 vs. 2003: Which season was better? in Formula 1 ·
Austin Evans says Montezemolo:
1. Why is Montoya capitalized like he’s a deity, while "worthy rival michael" is just written in lowercase? 😛

2. It is actually quite interesting, though. Even using the old scoring system, the points gap between the leader, Schumacher, and second place, Montoya, remains exactly the same.

1. I suppose my finger just got tired of hitting the SHIFT key. 🙂
2. Honestly, this just confirms my theory that Montoya will take the championship. They really started making moves mid-season, and they've already caught up to and passed McLaren. Ferrari is next on the list, probably. :P

I stumbled upon some pretty interesting stats on the news sites earlier today
Looking at how the standings shake out, it seems like Montoya is really the only one who truly pushed Schumacher to the limit for the title. Even with all those podium finishes, Kimmi just couldn't quite close the gap because he lacked the wins to back it up. And then there's Ralf; even though he finished just shy of scoring in one race and managed two victories, his overall standing still looks underwhelming, regardless of how you look at the points system...

2003

1. Schumacher 71 points
2. Montoya 65 points
3. Kimmi 62 points
4. Ralf 53 points
5. Rubens 49 points

2002

1. Schumacher 57 points
2. Montoya 51 points
3. Kimmi 46 points
4. Ralf 38 points
5. Rubens 34 points

Personally, I’ve never been much of a smoker, but hey, beer is beer 🙂

By the way, it looks like West and Marlboro will stick around for at least one more season in Formula 1, even if the sport feels like it's becoming increasingly restricted—well, except for when we head to places like China or Bahrain...
