Period talk: Questions and advice in Women's Health ·
You haven't really given us much to go on here, so I’m kind of in the dark—I don't know your age, if you might be pregnant, if you're on any birth control, or if there are any underlying health issues involved...
but look, an appointment with a gynecologist isn't exactly like booking a quick trim at a hair salon. If you're bleeding this frequently, you really should just call the doctor's office, tell them it's an emergency, and demand an earlier slot!! You need to get yourself seen in the exam room as soon as possible so they can figure out what's actually going on with you!!
and please, let us know how everything turns out once you've been seen.
General practitioner, 5-star rating.
The truth is, I’m pretty lucky since she only sees me once every couple of years, but my experiences have been nothing but positive.
What I really value about her is how much she actually wants to talk. When I had my first major allergy attack, she actually sat down with me and walked me through everything—explaining the what, the how, and the why. We talked about how diet and stress management play into it, and what kind of lifestyle shifts I could make to help myself... it’s never just about scribbling down a prescription and sending me on my way.
On the flip side, when I came in with some aches and pains that I didn't personally think were a big deal, she immediately sent me off for blood work at the lab and a referral to a specialist. She clearly didn't share my opinion that it was just a minor thing... and honestly, I appreciate that level of caution.
She doesn't rush you either, even if the waiting room is packed; she handles everything so professionally, which I really respect.
Tights, stockings... in Fashion ·
Keith Smith4 said:So, how much are those Benetton ones going for?

The calf-high ones are about $15, though their thickest tights usually run around $60.
btw, I actually picked up some of their calf-high nylon tights a few winters back—they're super thick, and honestly, they haven't snagged on me once, so I end up wearing them all the time.
I wouldn't say Benetton is really my go-to brand or anything, but man, those specific tights are just fantastic. 👍
Tights, stockings... in Fashion ·
Morgan Morales4, I can't really speak for the international brands, but honestly, the stuff from the Adriatic Sea brands is great—they have these really solid 60 to 70 denier socks that I basically live in. I'm pretty much always in skirts or dresses, regardless of whether it's freezing winter or mid-summer. If I had to pick, I definitely prefer the thicker tights, especially the matte ones. I just can't stand that shiny look... it makes you look like a Christmas ornament if they're too glossy. Oh, by the way, I think Benetton carries thick tights too; they have those thigh-highs—I once found a pair in this gorgeous petroleum blue, maybe 60 denier? And they have these super heavy-duty winter ones, maybe 70 denier, very dark and thick, so...
Oh, and I heard Victoria's Secret has a really good selection too!
Skin irritation around my eyes—help! in Health ·
So, I’m specifically talking about the skin right around my eyes—you know, that delicate area where you normally dab on eye cream? It's exactly where those first little laugh lines are supposed to show up. There aren't any changes anywhere else on my body, and it's definitely not some sort of allergy that's spreading... it's just this very localized reaction, though I honestly have no clue what could have caused it.
but, I guess the silver lining is that it seems to be clearing up on its own already.🙂
thanks for the help anyway 🙂
Skin irritation around my eyes—help! in Health ·
So, about two weeks ago, I started noticing this weird skin reaction right around my eyes—it looks a bit like a small rash, I suppose. It first showed up on one eye, just these tiny little red spots that wouldn't go away; they faded a little bit, but they never really cleared up completely.
Then, last night, I noticed the exact same thing happening next to my other eye.
In terms of my routine, I haven't actually changed anything. I'm using the same cleanser, the same moisturizer, and the same eye cream... I even stopped wearing any makeup around my eyes altogether, just to be safe.
It doesn't really itch or sting, but it just won't budge, and honestly, it's not very pretty... and I have absolutely no clue what it could be.🤷
Does anyone happen to know what I might be dealing with here?
Blood pressure monitoring tips? in Health ·
We actually have a digital one at home—the exact model is the Dexcom G6, made by German Medical Association. We picked it up over in Germany, and if I recall correctly, it was around $30, though I think you might even be able to check your blood sugar with it too (you’d probably need an extra applicator, but honestly, I’m not entirely sure)
You can take your own blood pressure with it. As for how accurate it is... well, I can't exactly guarantee it's the most precise thing out there, but I'd say the variations are pretty much within an acceptable range.

Angela Harris33 said:I have a question too, I guess.🙂

My period usually runs late by about 7 to 12 days, which I’ve always considered pretty normal, I suppose. But right before my last cycle, I moved to a new city and the change in climate really threw me for a loop—it affects me so much. Because of that, my last period actually showed up on the exact same day as the one before it. However, this current one is now two weeks late.

I feel super bloated and I'm dealing with these mild pains in my lower abdomen, but there's still no sign of anything happening!😕

Does anyone have an explanation for this?🙂

A friend of mine went through the exact same thing. She moved, the weather changed, and her cycle jumped to about 40 days twice in a row. Her gynecologist just told her it was fine, basically saying she just needed to give her body some time to adjust... and after a few weeks, everything finally settled back into place.
btw2, it happens to me too whenever I head to the Mediterranean Coast or come back from there; my cycle will be early or late by 4 or 5 days just because of the shift in weather for a few days, so... yeah.
Best antifreeze for my car? in Health ·
It’s been quite a while, but I can't stop thinking about this one movie or series... it was about this young mother who ended up being accused of murdering her baby with antifreeze. If I remember correctly, she supposedly gave it to the infant, and the symptoms involved things like seizures, intense pain, and then falling into a coma before passing away—and apparently, the autopsy showed something specific in the brain. But here's the twist: years later, after she finally managed to get pregnant again, this second baby started showing all those exact same symptoms. It turns out it wasn't foul play at all, but some underlying medical condition where both babies just happened to have these identical symptoms that mimicked the effects of antifreeze poisoning.
I'm sure my incredibly profound and helpful analysis has cleared everything up for you, 🙂
Sorry, that's really all the info I can dig up.
Dry / Chapped Lips in Health ·
I've actually heard people mention using lard too.
Personally, I find that applying some honey for a couple of nights in a row usually does the trick for me. Or, if I happen to have some Calendula salve on hand—that really is my go-to for both my hands and elbows during the winter when my skin gets super dry everywhere. You can pick it up at a local CVS; it isn't expensive at all.
Birth control and pregnancy risks in Women's Health ·
So, look, I was talking to a friend of mine, and she actually ended up having a baby despite using a condom during sex. I mean, the condom didn't even break, but I guess nobody can ever truly guarantee 100% effectiveness with those things.
Another thing to consider—and I’m just thinking out loud here—is that sperm can basically stay viable for a while, so to speak. In a situation where, say, a condom does fail during a window when they aren't technically fertile, the sperm can stay alive for a few days. That means you could have live sperm meeting up with a fertile egg a little later on... and well, we all know how that ends.
Female sterilization: What are your thoughts? in Women's Health ·
Wait, isn't tubal ligation actually considered a reversible procedure?
If I recall correctly—and I might be misremembering here—after that massive hurricane hit a few years back, so many women went in to get their tubes "undone" because they wanted to try for kids again after losing them in the flood. They actually managed to conceive after the surgery. There was this whole feature story about it on CNN
Ovaries: Cysts and related issues [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
And honestly, why don't you just head over to your primary care doctor instead of only relying on Ginić? If there really is something going on, maybe they’ll actually have more insight, and then you won't have to spend all this time guessing what it could possibly be.
Voltaren: Pros and cons? in Health ·
Knavon Forte is honestly my absolute lifesaver when I'm dealing with my period cramps. I was wondering, does anyone happen to know if this is actually just the same medication as Voltaren, maybe just manufactured by a different company?
