I don't even know where to start with this one. It’s absolutely infuriating how much nonsense we have to wade through just to get a straight answer. People act like common sense is some kind of rare luxury, but clearly, I’m asking too much. It’s like trying to drive through downtown Chicago during rush hour—you think you’ve got a clear path, and then suddenly, everything just grinds to a halt because someone couldn't follow basic rules. Unbelievable. ambermason16 says:
And yeah... I've got a question.😁

Why is mixing alcohol with antibiotics such a disaster? It’s common sense, really. You take a prescription to fight off an infection, and then you go out and pour liquid fire on your liver and stomach lining. It’s like trying to put out a house fire while simultaneously dumping gasoline on the living room. The math just doesn't add up. Alcohol can mess with how your body processes the medication, either making it totally useless or cranking up the side effects until you’re a shaking mess. You’re basically sabotaging your own recovery. If you want to actually get better instead of just spinning your wheels, leave the drinks alone until the meds are finished. It isn't rocket science; it's just basic survival.
I’m not even joking when I ask this... I genuinely want to know: am I out of line for wanting to go out and grab drinks with my girlfriends on the weekend?
Honestly, I’ve reached a point where I can’t tell if I’m actually losing my mind or if I’ve just finally stopped pretending to be sane. It feels like I'm more unhinged now than I ever was before.😍

Thanks!

Sorry I’m late to the party, but let’s be real: there is no bigger depressant on this planet than alcohol. After I went through that massive blowout, they put me on Disulfiram along with a whole pile of other meds—honestly, I might as well start collecting mason jars just to organize this ridiculous cocktail of prescriptions. So, take my advice: stay far away from the booze, honey. If you keep going like this, you won't even have people showing up to your funeral.

There’s something pretty wild about how Esperal works. For the first couple of days, when my body was still trying to flush out all the booze, I couldn't even stand the thought of touching the stuff. It felt impossible. But the second I finally forced down that first pill? Man, what a ride. I found myself staring at a cold Budweiser sitting on the bar, and honestly, I was so tempted I could have swallowed the whole damn bottle just to get the craving under control.

I’m finally starting to feel like myself again. I won't sit here and pretend the dark clouds have completely vanished—I still hit those walls every now and then—but the constant, crushing weight of wanting to end it all? That’s dropped from being my entire reality down to maybe thirty percent of the time. It’s progress, even if it doesn't feel perfect yet.

Daniel Garcia8 said:So, did you have side effects the whole time, or did they just hit you out of nowhere?

What dose were you on?

Thanks

It hit me like a freight train. Out of nowhere. I was on 20 mg a day for a month or two, and then—boom. Total disaster. 🤷

Well, after my third dose—half a pill of the Prozac—I felt absolutely terrible. Now? I can't even look at the stuff without feeling sick. Anyone else here actually dealt with Prozac? What was your experience like?

I played by the rules and took my Celexa like a good little girl for almost a month, and let me tell you, it completely broke me. I ended up in the emergency psychiatric ward. Was it because of the Celexa? Who knows. Could it have been anything else? Honestly, who knows.

Thanks for the input. 🙂

Well, at least I haven't hit full-blown psychosis... yet. 😢

It's an F-32.3—that means a severe depressive episode with psychotic features. We're talking an acute crisis here.
Then there's F-33.3—severe recurrent depressive disorder with psychotic symptoms. That's the chronic phase of the illness.

So what about an F-32.2?
Seeking forgiveness in Psychology & Therapy ·
I was initially drawn to this thread by the title, but it’s actually the polar opposite of my own struggle. My problem isn't about finding peace—it's about how you ever earn forgiveness from others? How do you secure genuine absolution from the people you've hurt? And here's the kicker: even if you manage to pull that off, what then? How do you ever forgive yourself for putting them through it in the first place, whether those moments are long buried or still fresh? They might find relief in an apology and move on, but me? I don't think I'll ever be able to.

Brandon Lopez6 said:So, what kind of reactions are we even supposed to be feeling?? 😕

(Honestly, I'm lost here... since this part is bolded... it feels the same to me.. I just assumed it was supposed to feel like this 🤷)

I have absolutely no clue—people claim they feel better, stronger, more upbeat, mentally tougher, more satisfied... that they transition from a state of depression into a constant state of good mood (that’s a totally layman's description, obviously). In the last 16 years since I've been treating my depression, I've tried probably every antidepressant out there, except for lithium... And nothing. Zip. Zero. It's like some young kid obsessively counting every single day to make sure I take my pills at the exact same time, stressing myself out for weeks, for months... and NOTHING!

The only real reaction I ever got from antidepressants was after taking Citalon for a month and a half, when I ended up in the emergency psych ward at Mount Sinai. I was clutching a chair for dear life, begging them to just let me end it all because I couldn't take it anymore. It took an hour of arguing just to convince them I wasn't going to cut myself or jump off a 16th-story balcony before they finally agreed to outpatient treatment and handed me seven different kinds of pills big enough to kill a herd of elephants.

Mind you, I actually know what triggers my deep depressive episodes... they show up every 6, 12, or 18 months... they last for a while... they slowly fade... maybe simply no antidepressant can patch up something that is so deeply and violently torn apart.

But every time I read some crappy version of Cosmopolitan claiming "Prozac is a global miracle," I just want to scream.

Gregory Roberts83 said:Over the last decade or so, I’ve cycled through several different antidepressants. For me, that initial adjustment period—usually spanning three to four weeks—has always been pretty brutal. It was so rough, in fact, that I used to take vacation time just to deal with the transition. I’d spend upwards of fifteen hours a day stuck in bed, feeling completely groggy and unable to handle anything remotely demanding. But then, typically after that two-week mark, things would shift significantly—I’d start to feel alive again, and my mood would end up being way better than it was before I ever started the meds. In my experience, those early side effects are definitely worth pushing through, because for me, they always vanished completely after two or three weeks at most. I've dealt with six or seven different types of antidepressants over the years, usually after taking a long break from everything.

It’s pretty clear that I am totally immune to antidepressants. Everywhere I look, I read these success stories where everyone is celebrating, but for me? It feels like I’m just drinking water. There was one exception, though... Celexa. That stuff made me lose my mind.

Question: If someone starts beltng out "Don't Cry for Me USA" while riding a city bus because of their meds, is that a sign of too much therapy? Is it just a temporary adjustment period, or is it impossible to tell?

The cocktail is: 30 mg Normabel, 100 mg Faverin, half a 500 mg Esperal tablet daily, Seroxat, and Celexa 20 mg.

Daniel Garcia8 said:I’ve been on Celexa for a week now. They told me the side effects should taper off after two or three weeks, but honestly, I feel way worse now than when I first started...

Anyone else dealt with Celexa before?
And do these side effects just vanish in a day, or do they actually start getting less frequent as time goes on?
thanks

Yeah—my final verdict on Celexa: it’s absolute garbage.

I know most medications are a big no-no right before a tattoo session—it's common sense, really—but I'm stuck wondering if Cipralex falls into that same risky category. I've heard so many conflicting opinions floating around out there, and honestly, it's just confusing me...

Oh, please. Medications have absolutely nothing to do with getting a tattoo... don't sweat it.

I’m begging people like this to stop barging into discussions like they own the vineyard when they aren't even from this neighborhood. At least learn who everyone is on this forum before you start making demands.

I get the confusion... It's probably because Michelle Sanchez3 is a woman. 😁

Olivia Hughes20 said:hey there!

Quick question... I’m starting college this fall and I am seriously craving a tattoo. Just something small, maybe 5-10 cm on my forearm. But honestly, I'm low-key stressing because people keep saying tattoos can mess with your job prospects. Is that actually a thing? Like, am I gonna screw myself over and have recruiters pass on me because of some ink?

I'm majoring in Education, by the way.

thanks!

They aren't lying to you. Look, it all boils down to how much luck you have and what kind of boss you end up working for. The forearm is a tricky spot. Once the weather warms up, it’s going to be hard to hide. An upper arm tattoo is slightly better, but even then, it’s a hassle because you have to hunt for short-sleeved shirts that are long enough to cover it up...

So, think long and hard about this. Personally, I haven't had trouble finding work, but while I've been at different companies, I've definitely faced criticism or demands to cover up my ink...

At the end of the day, it comes down to your own attitude. I don't let anyone push me around—honestly, who cares what they think? I just decide for myself when it's necessary to camouflage the tattoos. The rest of the time, I rock them, and if someone doesn't like it, they can look away.

And since you'll likely be working in education... expect stricter standards than you'd find in other industries. So—really consider where you choose to put that tattoo.
Timothy Martinez2 said:So, what exactly defines a troll now? Is it just anyone who dares to voice an opinion? Please. 😕Honestly, the people on this forum are completely rude and... It’s those socially unacceptable environments where people just don't have a clue how to act. It's like walking into a chaotic dive bar where nobody respects the unwritten rules of basic decency. Total anarchy. And don't even get me started on how they mock anyone who isn't part of their little circle. 😢

🤦

And then you have the nerve to mock me...
