I can certainly empathize—well, if I actually had the time or the inclination, which I don't—with the frustration regarding certain moderators and their specific styles of oversight, but I truly fail to see the logic behind demanding a particular set of forum policies. It’s almost as if I missed the memo where this place started selling off shares and suddenly everyone thinks they have a say in how to manage their own equity.
It’s like walking into a theater of your own volition and telling the lady in the front row, "Hey, enough with the screaming, why don't we listen to that Halliday track instead?" (or conversely, showing up to a Hallid set and demanding "Nessun dorma").
I don't think that comparison really holds water. They aren't actually related, I guess. Maybe you should rethink it.
As for those questions like "why is someone asking," "why is there a complaint," or "why is someone telling the truth"... I guess the answer is pretty simple: "Why not?"
It’s just typical cowardice, passing the buck like that. It seems easier to attack someone who hasn't done anything wrong just because they asked a question. I guess it's simpler to play psychoanalyst than to actually look for an answer together and just tell the person responsible that they're at fault. Maybe.
Of course. It’s because you need one thing for the second part that isn't required for the first. I guess.
I've run into this several times now on Reddit—getting attacked or accused just for asking a question. People keep hitting me with that "Why are you even asking that?" line, constantly trying to police my posts. It’s like you aren't allowed to ask anything, let alone start a discussion. I guess that isn't really what a forum is for, is it? 😕
Then they can just claim the forums are run by cults and special interest groups that silence anyone who asks too many questions. I guess.
I'm not being paranoid or dramatic. I guess some things have happened that can only be explained one way.
