Peter Wright3 said:Why isn't that the exact same thing? After serving in the Army, a person might become hardworking even if they were lazy before. They become responsible even if they were irresponsible. They become persistent even if they used to quit easily. That is personality change in a nutshell. It all comes down to repetition and habituation... until the new behavior becomes second nature. For most, the struggle is simply breaking old habits. But if it can be done, it absolutely can be done.
The military can also instill drive, confidence, and self-respect. We are all constantly evolving. The military is just a drastic example to prove that change is entirely possible. However, the reality remains that most people won't change. As old patterns become more ingrained, fighting against habit becomes increasingly difficult. But mark my words... it is possible. You just have to be a "soldier."

That doesn't necessarily hold water. If someone was lazy before joining the Army, they probably won't be hardworking after. They'll just be hardworking while they're in uniform because they have to be. Once they get out (which they'll likely be itching to do😁), they'll probably just go right back to being lazy. 🤷

Yeah, maybe it's the only Christmas song I can stomach even in July.😁 It’s wild how much talent—both lyrics and melody—was packed into someone who probably didn't even finish high school...

That wasn't even my point. I mean, word is things have spiraled so far that he can't even perform anymore. Back when he was younger and actually in shape, he could show up wasted and still pull off a concert, but now... I guess not.🤷

What’s everyone’s take on the Pogues reuniting? Does it even make sense at this stage?
I've been looking through some feedback from people who caught their recent shows, and the reviews are all over the place. Some say it was great and that Shane is back in his element, while others claim it's the exact opposite—that Shane can't hit most of the notes and the whole thing just looks pretty pathetic. 😢
I suppose I'd like to believe the first group, but I find it hard to buy. Shane looks rough, to be honest. People are saying the years of drinking and drugs have done permanent damage, and maybe there really isn't a comeback to be had.
Would you actually go to one of their shows? 🤷

How do I use Multi-Quote? in Forum Help! ·
Keith Rodriguez27 said:That’s because they stay trapped in that giant quote box since you forget to delete the original big quote you get when you first hit the quote icon at the bottom of the post. You gotta wipe that first quote out before you start adding your own commentary. But if you do that, you lose the person's name and the link back to their original post. So, here's the move: do what I always do—just grab that
tag from the very end of the post and paste it right after the specific section you actually want to reply to, then use the "highlight and quote" method for the rest of your stuff.
I suppose that happened to me too.

So, I guess you should just delete that initial quote before you even start commenting on the post.

Fine

But if you do that, you won't see the username or the link to the original post, so you could just do what I usually do.

Which is...😁

which is cutting the "quote" from the end of the post and pasting it onto the end of the first section you want to comment on, then using the "highlight and quote" method for the rest.

I tried something similar, maybe it works.🤷

Karen Adams2 said:I have to say, this all feels a bit overly complicated to me...🙄I mean, I understand how to quote someone’s message, emphasize it, underline it, or bold it, but I haven't quite figured out how to reply to multiple people at once. Is there a way to just "break up" my text and use the Wrap Quote feature for just one specific sentence or part of their post?😕
Could someone please walk me through this process—really step-by-step, as if you were explaining it to a complete novice?😁I'll be the first to admit that these technical nuances don't always come naturally to me, but I truly want to master this. I really want my responses to sound more coherent and well-structured...😍

And don't get me started...😁

Look, I know how to quote someone, emphasize things, bold them, whatever—but I haven't figured out how to reply to multiple posts at once. So I just chop the text up and quote single sentences instead.

That’s pretty much my approach too...🙄

Can anyone explain this clearly? Like, walk me through it step-by-step? I'll admit, I struggle with this kind of stuff, but I really want to learn. I want my replies to actually make sense.

Well, there's plenty of us around...😉😁

Monitoring anticonvulsant blood levels in Health ·
Susan Robinson86 said:Hey, I’m wondering if anyone here takes antiepileptics or used to (like me). I need some advice. Have you had blood tests to check your medication levels, and if so, how often? Did your neurologist request it, and why is it even necessary? I took antiepileptics for 13 years—starting when I was 10—but I only remember having my levels checked once at the beginning of treatment, and never again. I guess I’m worried about what happens if my levels were too high all this time without me knowing. Could that cause problems? Thanks in advance!!!!!!

I'm pretty new to all of this... well, my child is. She's been on an antiepileptic for about 20 days now. I asked her pediatrician about checking the drug concentration, and he explained that regarding her specific medication (she takes Lamictal), those tests aren't really done. I don't know anything else about it. 🤷
Maybe move the question to the epilepsy thread on this forum; you'll probably get more replies there..

That's news to me.😕
I take Lamictal and I've had my levels checked before, and I actually have another appointment for it coming up soon.
I think I even saw a sign saying patients on Lamictal get priority and don't have to wait as long.😕
I guess you should just ask the doctor...
It's just checking the level of Lamotrigine.

I take Lamictal and went in twice. My levels were too low the first time, so my neurologist bumped up the dose a bit. It worked, and I've stayed on that same dose since.
The whole point is to see if your body actually absorbs the medication enough for it to be effective. When mine was low, she basically told me it was like I wasn't even taking anything. They're just checking to see if the medicine is actually doing its job in your system.😉

I didn't find anything.

Honestly, people should have the right to be protected from spam and harassment through PMs.

It's right there in the rules. I read them recently. 😛
Even if it isn't in the latest update, you haven't just joined the forum yesterday.
There was even a case here recently where someone got banned for posting a private message.😉
I find it hard to believe most users know it's against the rules while you, the administrator, somehow don't.🙄
I suppose you know it's forbidden, but maybe you're just playing dumb to protect your colleague Steven Ruiz.🙂

Benjamin Nelson8 said:I didn't even see the report until the following day, so I didn't touch those two posts—honestly, I have no idea if anyone else caught them before I did. You keep attacking Precious, calling her hypocritical because she vaccinates her child while advocating against it, yet you completely ignore her explanations. You just loop back to the exact same question over and over, refusing to acknowledge the answer provided. That is the only reason this is happening. Neither of them were penalized for the same reason. Furthermore, that response from PreciousX was pure off-topic mockery and had absolutely nothing to do with the actual subject at hand.
I didn't even catch the second post... but honestly, I’d still give you a strike just for being off-topic and acting out.

Thread locked. Which one are we talking about?
The moderator shut down one of those pregnancy threads for a few days just to let things cool off and clean up the mess. Honestly, I can't blame him; the discussions over on that certain site just spin in circles with nothing but insults flying everywhere. I don't know of any other forum that actually handles it like that.

This disorganized mess you wrote here doesn't have anything to do with me. I don't know if quoting the wrong person was an accident or intentional, but since you quoted me, I guess I'll respond.

1. I have no idea which two posts you mean.
Only one of my posts actually got flagged on this thread, though way more were deleted. Whatever got flagged was so nonsensical people were laughing at it. And the crazy amount of deletions was just rude and disgusting, honestly. So those two posts probably aren't mine.🤷

2. I never called PreciousX a hypocrite for vaccinating her child while preaching against it... or anything like that. A different user was doing that more than others, and some others less so... I know what I wrote, so please don't put words in my mouth.

3. As for "ignoring her explanations, repeating the same thing, ignoring answers"... that wasn't me either. 🤣 Just to point out, PreciousX's explanations basically boil down to calling us stupid sheep who won't use our brains... so maybe ignoring them wasn't such a loss.

4. My interaction with PreciousX was strictly this: her attacking me (lying and being rude), and my response. It was never the other way around. Are you trying to tell me I shouldn't defend myself? That I should just stay quiet and let her insult and attack me whenever she wants?
Maybe I wouldn't have to respond if the moderators actually did their jobs. Since I'm forced to defend myself and deal with her, I feel entitled to hit back. Or do you somehow think otherwise?

5. I didn't call her a troll. Someone else said that. But of course, you'd rather paint me as the bad guy.

6. I wasn't talking about the Kindle moderator closing threads, but the ones on the main board.
Regarding closing the anti-vax thread, I have nothing against it. I was actually the first one to say that thread shouldn't even be there. And I explained why. Especially when the main voices there are just homeopaths.

I’m not even talking about this thread. I mean the other one where my posts were being wiped for absolutely no reason. It was pretty senseless. There wasn't any actual provocation. No insults, no trolling—whatever you call it when you run out of things to say—and nothing off-topic. If anything was off-topic, it was barely more than what people whose posts stayed up were doing.

It’s no different from how our politicians operate out here. ☕

By the way, this PDF is basically a record of how quickly threads get killed the second they go live. Based on what some users are saying, there were times when admins actually did their jobs and dealt with appeals.
Maybe the current ones don't even know what that means. They just act entitled and push through. They close the thread and hand out bans to anyone who tries to complain.🙄

It’s always like this on R&D. I tried pointing it out before, but one of the R&D moderators is also an admin here at the FBI, so she just shut the thread down.😉
