Hey everyone, greetings from Washington, D.C.!
I could really use some help figuring out the specs for a UPS for some servers and other power gear that might be needed.

So... basically, I need to buy a UPS for a company here in the States for a bunch of servers and a small data center. They don't really have a clue what they actually need, and honestly, I'm not entirely sure myself either.🤔 We're looking at picking up a 30 kVA UPS and what I'm wondering is this: do they also need a stabilizer or maybe a transformer for that?? In certain parts of the US, the grid voltage can be pretty unpredictable—it swings anywhere from 150 to 240 volts, and I guess almost everything needs a stabilizer just to keep from burning out and to actually function.
But, if this is a heavy-duty UPS, does it handle all that on its own, or does it need extra help? And if it does need a stabilizer or a transformer, what kind should it be????

Thanks so much in advance!
Any good private nephrologists in NYC? in Health ·
Esther33 said:Just because it's private doesn't mean it's better. If I had to choose, I'd probably head over to Madison Square Garden to see prof. Galešić... I think it might be worth checking how long his waitlist actually is...

I wasn't really suggesting that private care is automatically superior.
It's just... I really don't feel like sitting in a hospital waiting room for a month or two for something that feels somewhat routine. My dad's doctor wants to rule out anything hereditary, and since I'm healthy and haven't had any issues, I guess I just want to get it over with.
I suppose I'm just being impatient! 😬

Thanks for recommending that doctor 😉

I really need to get a kidney ultrasound and a full consultation with a nephrologist soon. Honestly, I just don't have the patience to sit on a two-month waiting list at a public hospital, so I’d much rather just book a private appointment with Dr.
.
Does anyone have any recommendations? I’ve been searching online, but I can't seem to find many nephrologists—well, actually, I haven't found any at all! It's weird because there are tons of OB-GYNs, gastroenterologists, and cardiologists available, but not this.🙂 Please help! 😉Thanks

Thanks for getting back to me (though, I guess, maybe a slightly longer explanation wouldn't have hurt either!! 😬 )

Is this about the Tax ID or like... an "Entity Identification Number"? Or is it something else entirely? (Please, I really hope it isn't something else!!!!!!)

Do cities and municipalities even actually have them????

Dealing with bad cramps? in Women's Health ·
I mean, I don't really know... does rejecting femininity and all that psychological stress during puberty mean I’m basically just carrying a thirty-year-old version of puberty on my back??? 😬 God, I wish I actually was fifteen 😁

And I just don't get why something like an ovarian cyst or a fibroid would be the *only* thing used to justify painful periods—I mean, isn't there also a physical cause with uterine cramping? Or is it just, I don't know, some kind of psychological tension? 😕
Urgent... Microsoft Word question in Software ·
I’ve been putting together actual papers using Microsoft Word, and honestly, I haven't really felt like anything was missing.
I mean, I use Microsoft Word every single day, and I just don't see how it could be considered bad—if anything, it feels like every new version is getting better. Of course, you can't really expect the software to just read your mind and have you using it like a total pro right out of the gate without any hiccups, especially for your specific needs, slycrane94! 😛 😬 (I guess you’d need to be Bill Gates himself to get all that perfect right away! 😁)
So, yeah... maybe we shouldn't be so quick to trash the program if we haven't really mastered how to work with it yet 😛 😁

cafédelmar said:I wonder what the price tag on those is... I guess it depends, maybe? Not sure if they're listed somewhere specific.
Thanks!

I mean, I pay for them myself. I guess. $187 I'm looking at the price for one little box of six lenses—which covers me for about six months since I pick them up down in Indianapolis. But honestly, I think they’re way more expensive if you try to find them in a big city like Chicago. Last time I checked the prices there, they were upwards of $320 or even more.

And regarding that whole "daily" label thing... I mean, it doesn't actually mean you're tossing them out and putting in a fresh pair every single day. I think someone above was trying to calculate the cost based on that, but... I don't know, maybe they misunderstood how it works? It's not like you're replacing them every twenty-four hours. I guess it just refers to the type of lens. 😁

So, I'm using these Johnson & Johnson Surevue daily lenses (though "daily" is a bit of a stretch since I don't actually swap them out every single day... don't ask me how that works, I guess it's just my way of doing things...). I basically wear one pair for about a month, and I just take them out once a week to clean them. I don't bother removing the protein buildup because my eye doctor told me there's really no point since I'm tossing them after a month anyway. Plus, I've never really felt like they weren't clean enough after a standard rinse with Oxysept, and they haven't been irritating my eyes or anything like that.
But man, back when I was stuck using those annual lenses (so gross), I had to deal with protein removal every three or four days (ugh). It’s such a relief to be done with all that hassle—I always used to worry that I hadn't rinsed them well enough and that it might end up burning my eye 😲
Last year my prescription jumped by half a diopter, and honestly, I nearly had a panic attack—is it possible my contact lenses are just wrong? My eye doctor told me it’s totally normal for things to fluctuate a bit, saying something like, "Well, you're still young!" (I almost fell in love with her right there in the 😬 clinic, haha), but I was still pretty worried. I mean, in all the twenty years I've worn glasses, my vision has only ever changed by half a step, going from a 3.5 to a 4 total
. But then I sat around thinking about it and realized I've been spending way more time staring at a computer screen lately since I switched from school to freelance translation work... and that's really the only big change in my life. It probably doesn't have anything to do with my lenses, since this is the first time my eyes have shifted in like 7 or 8 years since I started wearing them... or at least, I really hope that's the case...

Sophia White, sweetie, sending you a huge hug! 😘 😘

I tried setting up that old version from back in 2000 and 2002, but I couldn't get it to work at all... 😠

And honestly, with how much I mess up my typing—I definitely need some kind of spellcheck!!! 😁 😬

I'm still just sitting here hoping it actually works 😁

😲 Dice, listen up, you users!!!

So, Word actually has this feature where it can just pop in a table of contents (TOC) for you. It’s already all formatted and pretty, and I guess you only need like two or three clicks to get it looking exactly how you want it.
Insert > References > Index and Tables
> Table of Contents

You can pick how many heading levels you want included, and you can decide what the whole thing looks like—you know, the font, the size, those little dots or lines leading to the page numbers... stuff like that.
Then you just hit OK and... boom!

Of course, for that to work, your headings and subheadings have to be properly set up in the headers (which might be a bit tricky for beginners since Word's defaults can be kind of overwhelming sometimes) or through Outlining (which is probably easier).
So, basically—you right-click on the toolbar at the top and select "Outlining." Then, in that little window on the toolbar, it'll show things like Body Text/Level 1-2-3-4... You just mark your headings and pick which level they belong to. Regular text should stay as "Body Text." Once you've done that, you can go ahead and insert the TOC.

But, I mean, if you really want to just type the table out manually—maybe make a right tab at the right margin of the page so all your numbers line up nicely.
How many MP3-cs do you have on your PC? in Software ·
John Palmer4 said:that they're just low quality and the CD player won't even pick them up after sitting in a drawer for maybe a year...

Exactly!!! 😠
I was honestly losing my mind yesterday over this one disc that just decided it was done for good and wouldn't read anymore! 😠

Anyway, I think I have about 9 MP3 files on my computer now (not MB or GB, but actual individual tracks 😬 ) ever since that one infamous Windows installation swallowed up about 300 MB worth of MP3s. I know it's not a huge deal, but I guess you get kind of attached to them when you used to download everything via Napster on a slow dial-up connection... like, back 4 or 5 years ago...

That movie is definitely 👍

It feels like a mix of Robert Rodriguez and some Tarantino-esque vibes, I guess, which makes it 👍
