Pyruvate vs. L-carnitine: Which one should I take? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
Nicholas Kern90 said:Uh... honestly, I can't seem to find a single link that lists all the benefits. Obviously, they're great for cardiovascular health. At doses of 3 grams or more of EPA/DHA, they really help with muscle definition by helping the body utilize fat for fuel. What I’ve personally noticed, though, is that at higher dosages, they make concentration during studying absolutely incredible—not kidding, it's unreal. And they're great for bone and joint health too...

I have a plan. I'm going to stick strictly to Omega-3s for my supplements.

But first, I need to get this thumb issue sorted out.🙄
Then, I'll ramp up the cardio and start incorporating some HIIT.

Linda Castillo94 said:Let’s be real—seeing those measurements drop that quickly? It’s almost certainly just a placebo effect. 👍

Educate yourself.

The link you provided discusses the importance of regular physical activity and its impact on long-term health. It’s a vital topic. Is movement truly the best medicine? Perhaps. We often overlook how simple, consistent activity can reshape our metabolic health. It isn't just about hitting the gym for an hour once a week. It's about the cumulative effect of staying active throughout the day. How much does sedentary behavior actually cost us in terms of longevity? A lot. Research consistently shows that reducing sitting time and incorporating more movement can mitigate risks for cardiovascular issues and type 2 diabetes. It’s worth considering. Small changes. Daily habits. Are we making them? Moving more might be the simplest investment one can make in their future self.

The link provided points toward an archived collection of information regarding the professional development and educational standards within the industry. Is it enough to simply follow the existing curriculum? Or should we be looking deeper at how these training modules evolve alongside modern technological shifts? It serves as a reminder that staying current isn't just about attending a seminar once a year. It’s a continuous process. How often do we actually reassess our foundational knowledge? Perhaps too rarely. We need to ensure our methods remain relevant to the demands of the American workforce. Constant refinement seems to be the only way forward.

Every "cure" carries its own placebo effect.

Linda Castillo94 said:Like I said—I've been on L-carnitine for about six months now, and I know it works. From what I gather, you were only using the weakest version and for a very short period.

As I mentioned, it could just be the placebo effect.😉

EDIT-Nicholas Kern90, I've never actually taken Omega-3.
In short, why is he even taking it?

Linda Castillo94 said:Have you tried both?

I used some L-carnitine for a short stretch by mixing it into an isotonic drink.

But hey, I haven't gone and shot myself in the head yet, though I'm pretty sure that wouldn't end well.😉

If you really want to... just go ahead and spend your money on L-carnitine or Pyruvate.🙏

Linda Castillo94, L-Carnitine and Pyruvate are a waste of time.
They don't work.

It's nothing more than a placebo effect.

If you want results, the ECA stack is the only way, though ephedrine is illegal here.

You'd be better off spending that money on a new pair of running shoes.☕

I’d suggest sticking with Optimum Nutrition or Weider.

Scitec is trash?

Scitec is decent enough—not quite on the level of Optimum, but certainly better than Biotech.

A middle ground, I suppose.

Though... rowdyfalcon16🤣 could have picked something better than Isolate.
But for a beginner? It'll do fine.

Are we talking about an insulin "spike"?

Or hypoglycemia symptoms?

And you noticed my comment:
Jason Campbell70 said:Of course. When I mention hypoglycemia, don't immediately jump to those extreme, drastic symptoms.

I was referring to things like tremors, hunger, and other milder signs—not, say, a coma or similar "serious" consequences.

Hypoglycemia isn't some rare or alien disorder; it happens to everyone.

Nicholas Kern90 said:Sure... if you're injecting several units of insulin before hitting the gym, then yeah.

But it’s unnecessary. A decent amount of glucose will get the job done just fine.☕

Nicholas Kern90 said:Hypoglycemia? Seriously? Where on earth are you guys getting your data? 🤣

Back to basics, Nicholas Kern90... back to basics.

One of the contributing factors to hypoglycemia.

High insulin levels? We’ve all been there. It’s that massive insulin spike you get after slamming too much glucose at once.
Increased physical exertion? Well, that’s a given when you're training, isn't it?
Blood glucose levels have dropped. It's expected, really—just a result of the increased physical exertion.

Of course, when I bring up hypoglycemia, don't immediately jump to those extreme, drastic symptoms.

So, I wouldn't recommend high GI carbs. Why bother?

I'd much rather stick to complex carbs.

Mark Gray4 said:I used to just toss in a little glucose here and there. But I recently picked up some advice suggesting that for every 30 grams of protein, you should be hitting 100 grams of glucose. If that's the case, that 500g bag I grabbed from Walmart is going to vanish in less than two weeks—maybe five workouts? Funny how things change. Before, a single teaspoon would have lasted me months.😢

I'm in my prime. 🙄 I was mixing two scoops of whey with three scoops of glucose—grabbed the glucose from Walmart—into my MuscleTech. 🥳

So... about taking Pre-Workout that contains high-GI carbohydrates.

Aren't high GI carbs a guaranteed ticket to hypoglycemia?
And that’s roughly when I'd time it—right around the middle or toward the end of my workout.

So, what exactly should you be avoiding during strength training?

feralbison4 said:food is the foundation, it's true, and anyone who swaps meals for supplements is making a mistake...

but claiming that MuscleTech is unnecessary or useless? That’s just ridiculous...
there's plenty of literature on MuscleTech, not to mention the firsthand experience of top-tier competitors, so I think claims like that need some actual substance behind them...

I was simply stating a position based on my own casual approach to lifting at the gym.

feralbison4 said:by the way, there's a specialized bodybuilding forum out there where you can see photos of members; take a look at what people using MuscleTech actually look like...

they're probably using something else 😉

Lawrence Phillips said:I assume not a single day goes by without meat on the plate.🤷

You're making a fair assumption.

Started hitting the meat around 11:00 AM. Just finished my last serving about half an hour ago.😬

It’s not out of the question that there will be more meat on the bone.

Exactly.
I don't touch supplements.

Just food, food, and more food.
Best protein powders for muscle gain? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
Lawrence Phillips said:And what exactly is that?

If you're talking about a Post-workout meal, it's just mixing whey protein with glucose right after you hit the gym.

Just a heads up, though—I don't actually use it myself.
I have in the past.

But I don't see any real difference.

Which muscle groups need more work?
In my opinion, the forearms and biceps—though with this arm span, that's a tough ask.

I'm off to knock out a light circuit training session. 👋

Jeremy Diaz9 said:Look, man, I don't think you grasped what I was actually getting at.
First, you jumped straight to the idea that if someone struggles with basic spelling or punctuation, they must basically have a lower IQ. In doing that, you just proved how incredibly arrogant you are.
Then, you typed out "New Yorker."
At this point, it doesn't even matter that you missed a single letter.
What matters is that I can prove you're illiterate according to your own standards, since people insist the term is "New Yorker."
So, by your own logic, you're the one who's intellectually inferior here.
Instead of actually listening to what I'm trying to say, you just keep venting...
I asked you how it feels when I shut down an actual argument with such an idiotic approach. You tell me!

I wouldn't call this a serious or well-reasoned debate. But really?

Suppose we're talking about seeing a massive white dog near the coast of Maui, and you decide to quote me just because I happened to write "massive w..."jYou notice "dog shit" like that and throw it back in my face without even glancing at what I actually wrote? If you're going to ignore the substance of my post just to nitpick, I’d have to call you a troll—and maybe something else, too. 😁).

Suppose you responded to my post about that massive white dog sighting near the coast of Maui with a solid, reasoned argument. If you ended there by pointing out my typo, I’d actually thank you for it. Wouldn't I?

I don't see anything wrong with that.🤷

@ Jerry Martin19, I can't seem to find the Formula 1 subforum, but I will tell you this: both threads are completely moronic and utterly ridiculous. To the authors of those posts? They deserve nothing but the worst.
