Regarding the regulations...
If I had my way, I’d probably start banning things already. 😁

The rule is clear: movable aerodynamic surfaces are strictly prohibited.
That engine cover fin on the Renault and the Red Bull? Is it an aerodynamic surface? YES!
Is it mobile? Yes!
Is something like that against the rules? Absolutely.

I hope Max will be feeling generous when it comes to handing out penalties.😁

shadowmaker43 said:tomorrow is a holiday for any true F1 fan

Tomorrow is a big day for everyone☕

Especially for the retirees heading out to grab some chili and sausages at a local stadium. Hopefully they have enough in stock this year.🤷

A quick favorite suggestion for our esteemed moderator, mistybear87:🙏
just close this thread. It's becoming pointless.😁

I’ve heard of him. Watched him. I even watched someone better.☕

Dana Grant7 said:Can't believe it.😲 😲 😲

Not much I can do for you there.🤷

Dana Grant7 said:Then what are you even doing on this thread???

Correcting other people's typos.

Dana Grant7 said:The absolute master of wet races. They called him Rain man. Brazilian. World Champion.

Rain man—the man for the rain, not Rain men.☕

That part you got right.

Dana Grant7 said:Good grief, people, where on earth are you all living???😲😲😲

mistybear87 said:That's a flexi wing. 😬

Look, moderator, that’s just what crossed my mind.

Remember when I mentioned how that Red Bull rear end is so flexible? It just wobbles all over the place at high speeds.
Renault isn't an exception here either. It just wobbles and dances left and right. Since movable aerodynamic surfaces are strictly banned under F1 technical regulations, I’m expecting officials to at least issue a warning regarding this questionable detail—just like they did with Ferrari 2006.
With Ferrari, those "upgrades" were practically non-existent. I mean, were they even making any changes at all? It felt like the car's nose stayed exactly the same.

Dana Grant7 Asks:
Does anyone here know which anniversary we're celebrating tomorrow?😢

Tomorrow marks exactly one year since May 1st, 2007.😢

I spotted this on a forum earlier. Does anyone 🤷 know why? Is it obvious to anyone why they went with different spoiler setups for Kimi and Mass at the Vanuatu Spain GP?😕

It’s simple, really. They have such a massive advantage over the rest of the field that they can actually test various car configurations under real race conditions.☕

Sure, Arthur Doyle70—there's probably a trick involved. But if I'm seeing this right, even the lollipop man is still in his usual spot. Only difference? No actual lollipop. Likely just using a remote to switch the signal on the indicator.🤷
Spain Matchday 27 - April 27, 2008 in Formula 1 ·
A bit late to the party here😬

Has anyone else noticed that Ferrari swapped out the lollipop man for one of those aero-shape indicators? I’m guessing it uses different colored LED signals to communicate🤷

And I've always wondered which idiot is going to screw up first while warming those rear tires before the start...
Found my answer☕

The perfect red car is the only reason it didn't take the championship back in '99.

If you want to talk about actual car performance, just look at Mike Salo's results. Simple as that.👍

Edward Howard2 said:Irvin, Barrichello, and Massa were just supporting players in an orchestra conducted by Schumacher.

Irvin had his shot and missed it. Barrichello never even got one. And Massa? Well, Massa is just Massa.🤣
Edward Howard2 said:None of them stood a chance at being anything more than that.
As for Irvin, you could argue he might have had a shot if Schumacher had crashed in the second race of the season. Based on pure probability, maybe he could have taken the 1999 title. But Schumacher didn't crash, so we can't call that season a lost opportunity for Irvin—though it was certainly the best year of his career. That says enough, doesn't it?

Hint-Stowe, 1999, Schumacher☕
Ring a bell?🤷

And btw, is the topic VN Spain?

First things first: what’s the weather forecast looking like for the weekend?

I thought we all agreed that Massa is a driver, for crying out loud. What's the point?☕

Just a quick heads-up for Elizabeth Hughes. There are two images here, and neither one exceeds the size limits. 😛

🙂 No way can I be penalized

👋

Edit: If my memory serves me right, the subforum rule states that an image shouldn't exceed 800x600.
Taken together, these images don't violate those dimensions.

neonharbor18 said:Comparing drivers based on who is "better" or "worse" is pointless and frankly misguided. You have to account for the team, the car, and everything else. These comparisons are purely subjective; you can't truly claim one driver outclasses another. The only objective way to look at it right now is through statistics:

If we are talking about total world titles, Alonso is definitely the greatest.
But if we look at race wins, points, or podium finishes? In my view, Hamilton takes it. What is the reality? 🤷,if everyone were driving identical cars starting under the exact same conditions—much like a track and field event—then maybe we could actually settle the debate once and for all.🙄

Weren't hemorrhoid and Gaynando running in identical machinery last year? You know, the McLarens.
Word on the street is that Lonzo was much better at dialing in the car, especially during the first half of the season.
He joined the squad as a two-time world champion with far more Formula 1 experience than Blackie (who had zero Formula 1 experience, right?)

Remind me, who ended up being the better driver?😕

I see you didn't miss your opportunity to swoop in with that typical plastic attitude of yours

I don't follow Formula 1 all that closely... at least, not as intensely as I have in recent years...

And just so you know, they wouldn't have known what hit them on other forums either...

I was simply pointing out how pointless it is to ask about wearing down slicks or tires with radial cuts.👍

hollowhawk412 said:I've got a question for you all.

Do slicks wear out faster than grooved tires?

Thanks in advance!

Are you actually serious right now?🤣

Raymond Ortiz89 said:Come on, man. Mentioning Lewis Hamilton like that? The guy is a straight-up pioneer in Formula 1. Honestly, that’s just a ridiculous take.😂

Sure, but racing is a lifelong pursuit. His entry into Formula 1 was carefully planned, and he proved during his very first season that he has exactly what it takes to be a future world champion.

rustystag7 said:What’s so funny about my claim that Alonso is the best driver in F1 right now? Who could possibly be better than him?🤷

I have no desire to start a debate over how Alonso secured his titles. It would just trigger an avalanche of off-topic threads, and that’s the last thing I want. 🙂

Answering your question:
It’s definitely Kimi Räikkönen.
Lewis Hamilton.
Even Robert Kubica.

It was simple, really. A perfect storm of circumstances favored Alonso. A bit of luck here, a few things falling into place there—and just like that, he walked away with two titles to add to his collection.
