Feel free to move the conversation over to this thread if you want. Honestly, though, I think it would be pretty interesting to dive into how the media chooses to cover—or completely ignore—some of these candidates.
Look, at the end of the day, the moderators have every right to remove you from their subforum if they decide it’s what’s best for you and the community as a whole. Next time, you might want to be a bit more careful about what you go looking for—you might just get exactly what you asked for.

You really ought to provide some actual science-based reasoning—not just ideological stances or appeals to authority—to explain why there couldn't be a link between culture and biological evolution...
You didn't either. That’s exactly what I’m getting at here.
Honestly, if you ask me, I’d just shut down that first thread right away or move it over to off topic without giving it a second thought. As for the second one, I haven't said anything about it, and I don't have any plans to start now.
Reading through this complaint, I honestly thought you had actually started a discussion on a legitimate science topic. That first part doesn't even come close to being scientific; maybe it could pass as philosophy, but I'm pretty sure those folks have certain standards they hold themselves to.
Don't go asking me to repeat myself. How about suggesting a new title? Something descriptive would be great. A new title might fly, but I'm not making any promises.
That title didn't even come close to hinting at what we're actually talking about here. Look, you can pick whatever title you want, but it actually needs to reflect the subject matter. This is a discussion forum, not some sensationalist tabloid trying to sell copies with clickbait headlines that have absolutely nothing to do with the actual story.
Mark Nguyen6 said:The problem isn't that the criteria are too strict. It’s more that they are inconsistent and, frankly, unprofessional. I mentioned one specific instance earlier as an example.
Generally speaking, I would actually advocate for the strictest possible standards. One insult or a single swear word? A month-long ban—no problem at all. I think the quality of our discussions would improve almost instantly if we did that.
However, the crucial part—the absolute dealbreaker—is that the rules must be applied consistently to everyone and remain relevant to the content. We shouldn't have moderators mixing their own personal biases or worldviews with the actual moderation guidelines. And honestly, this has reached a rather concerning level lately.
It feels like the moderators have reached a point where they're practically walking on eggshells, essentially saying, "Look, I don't feel like dealing with your nonsense, so I'm just going to delete your post and ban you—what are you going to do about it?" I experienced this very thing recently with Sam Green73. Out of nowhere, during a perfectly normal discussion, he coolly labeled me a nostalgic for the old regime—I have no idea why he felt entitled to categorize me like that—closed the thread, and handed me a red card. 😁
In my opinion, forget the topic itself; once you get a red card, what was being discussed becomes irrelevant. It's frustrating. But this behavior is simply not serious.
The whole topic was about the Communist Party of the old America back in 1941, so yeah, technically it was "nostalgic." I really hope you don't find yourself getting lumped in with that kind of stuff.
I’ve noticed that on certain subreddits—like the one for Politics—the post counts don't seem to update correctly. It’s actually pretty weird; if a thread you participated in gets moved into one of those specific subreddits, your total post count under your profile actually drops. Anyway, I really hope you’re posting because you actually have something interesting to contribute to the conversation, and not just because you're chasing that little number next to your avatar.
I honestly feel like political satire actually has a legitimate home here on the "on the edge of politics" subreddit. It’s such a vital part of the conversation.
First off, I’m the one who moved this thread because it isn't strictly about politics. It’s more of a psychological or sociological discussion, though it definitely brushes against politics since we're talking about a public figure getting tangled up in political affairs, which makes it a perfect fit for the "on the edge of politics" subforum.

Is it a subforum where users actually choose to "send" their own posts, or is it just some "overflow" area (if you want me to call it a "dumping ground") where moderators toss threads they personally decide don't belong in the main "Politics" section?
The word you're looking for is inappropriate. So, just like my colleague mentioned:
Ronald Allen said:I can tell you guys miss me, so I figured I’d reach out, fellow Redditor to Redditor. Look, nothing has really changed except for the name of the subforum. To quote what your colleague was saying:
The big reason we renamed the subforum is to encourage a bit of normalization—basically aiming for a little more civility and culture from our users, who still haven't quite mastered the art of normal communication. We made the change in the hope that things might eventually head in that direction. You’ll still find topics there that aren't quite right for the main Politics section, but those threads will still be moderated. We’re still sticking to the Rules and this subforum won't tolerate copy-pasting content or breaking any of the guidelines listed above, just like the rest of Reddit.
Thanks for understanding!
I just wanted to add that no matter how much we deny it, names really do affect perception. Some users were under the impression that because the subforum was called the "mad house," anything went. It was like they thought they were heading to an asylum to act out.
On the flip side, some people would start a genuinely constructive or interesting debate that didn't quite fit the main Politics board, only to feel insulted when the thread ended up in the "mad house" (and believe me, I'm speaking from personal experience here).
