PC build recommendations under $300 in Desktops ·
Most of the time, even if the modules aren't an exact match, you'll be fine. Just grab it through the online store—that way you can always send it back within two weeks if the RAM gives you any trouble.

The GTX 1060 3GB and an extra 4GB of RAM should hold up for her.
It’s nothing legendary, sure, but it definitely punches above the 1050Ti and is easily the best move you can make right now.

It’s just a few stops west of Times Square. Getting there via public transit is easy enough. If you've got a better way, let me know.

Edward Miller33 said:What’s going on? Did some miners swoop in? Try using the search function on this forum instead of guessing. 😁 I was literally just looking at an RX 480 when this happened. Great. -.-

Exactly. They won't be back in stock until October.

Disk-based Systems service, I think they're over on Canadian Street, near the British place.
A buddy and I both had our ultrabooks cleaned twice and everything turned out fine. I think it was $40 or something like that
Give them a call about half an hour after you place the order

Solid combo, assuming it fits your budget.
I don't think you need a beefier GPU just for recording gameplay. With NVIDIA ShadowPlay, you can capture footage without tanking your performance much at all.

Just grab 8GB of RAM for now. It’s easy enough to slap in another stick later on, and that keeps you within your budget.

p.s.

Maybe crimsonstag84 activated that discount you get from registering on the PC Expert forum over at Amazon.
How nuclear plants can absolutely wreck hard drive production😵😵😵
be quiet! 300W power supply for $94. One of the few decent options under $100. Might actually be a better call than Hexagon if you're watching every single cent

Below, $1000 I put together a brand new PC capable of running most modern titles on medium settings. You could probably find used gear with similar performance for less, but this setup was nowhere near anything remotely usable.

Uffff, pretty weak for gaming. Unless you're just paying for a Windows license, it’s barely worth it.

It’s not like it’s a total disaster for browsing or stuff, but don't expect much from modern games. Both the CPU and the GPU are just too sluggish.

GTX 1060 vs RTX 3060 & RX 580

Basically, the RTX 3060 edges out the other three cards being tested (RX 580, GTX 1060, and that 9Gbps GTX 1060 variant) by just a few percent.
It’s 6% faster than the 9Gbps GTX 1060 when you look at the minimum FPS.

Tested across 27 different games. 😁

Look, I know they aren't out there anymore. I'm talking about back when they had stuff like the 260x/265/270 series
. Let them try with $167, though personally I’d be down to drop $400 on it.
I'd part with my Sapphire 7850 2gb for $450, no sweat.

They were under $500 about a year ago.
Maybe $500 if there's still some warranty left, otherwise probably closer to $400.

So... right now the best value CPU is the Intel Core i3...

Is it actually worth hunting down individual components where they're cheaper, or is the effort of all that tinkering just going to result in minimal savings?

Sometimes it makes sense, but for these specific parts, you aren't looking at any major savings

I gave you a build from Best Buy
Elon Musk suggested one from IBM

And both end up being pretty much the same. The tiny differences just come down to what two different shops happen to have in stock. Messing around with custom combos won't save you more than $17.

If you grab everything from one place, they'll usually put the whole thing together for free (works for both of those stores). I think IBM even offers free shipping if you buy the full set.

A 500GB drive as my only storage is going to fill up fast, and honestly, you barely notice the speed boost when gaming. I went with 2x4GB RAM because there's no way I'll need more than that for gaming in the next five years. Besides, I doubt buying a single stick at Best Buy is actually cheaper, so it’d be pointless not to run dual channel.

Why settle for a cheap case and a 500GB Hard Drive? They’re honestly a waste of money.

Already sitting on 8GB of RAM (2x4)

At this budget, you won't even fit an SSD, but you can definitely squeeze in a solid 1080p gaming setup

If you're buying new, something like this would be your best bet from Google; I think they throw in free assembly

You might find a different power supply at another shop for this price, but this Intel Pentium G4560 and GTX 1050 Ti combo is a total steal for what you're spending

Sure, you could save some cash by picking up newer parts, but I wouldn't touch an old motherboard or a Hard Drive—everything else here is a great value.

I’d personally look for a used graphics card with a warranty, maybe a GTX 960, R9 380, or something similar if you can find a deal

P.S.

The CPU choice is based on the fact that it's objectively the best value up to $333. The GPU choice might shift depending on whether your budget goes up or down, but you get what you pay for. There's a decent card for every price point.

You could probably swap out the case for something a bit cheaper on this build.
