Partial: Soap Suds PDF in Feedback & Suggestions ·
We sat down with the folks over at CBS and went over everything. No one is playing games with you here. Honestly, looking at your reactions and the stuff you’ve been posting on other forums even after the partial ban, it’s pretty clear you haven't really grasped the point of it all. You still haven't adjusted how you communicate. Based on why you got flagged in the first place and the way you're acting now, we've decided the partial ban is staying put.
Moderation: Napoleon Bonaparte Yildirim thread in Feedback & Suggestions ·
It’s totally standard for more than one mod to handle a thread, mostly because life happens and nobody can be online 24/7. Plus, having extra sets of eyes means if someone misses something, another mod can jump in and fix it. The mods definitely know which subforums they've already been assigned, and they keep that in mind. It hasn't happened here, and honestly, it doesn't happen elsewhere either—mods don't just swoop in and start handing out bans without looking at the full context of what went down or what might happen next.

The mods are gonna swap out the thread title once they touch base and agree on something that actually covers everything you see in these photos.
Food Forum Moderation: Emoji-only posts being treated as spam in Feedback & Suggestions ·
There’s a rule about emojis, and honestly, I don't see why anyone's should be treated as more special than anyone else's.

Nobody actually got a Cardboard, the post just got nuked. Next time, maybe throw a few actual words in there so we don't run into any issues.

Besides, you're starting a whole thread just to complain about someone else's post being deleted.😕
😁

I can’t control what people decide to get worked up about. Honestly, they don't even have anything else to complain about right now—most haven't even tasted the food yet, so they're just reacting to pictures. They're annoyed that the menu design at a high-end spot like this looks sloppy. If some people care and others don't, that's fine; I'm not going to stop someone from pointing out a bad layout. 🤷

And let's be real: the idea that he's part of the PR team for 5/4 was plausible then, and it's still plausible now. If someone thinks he's working PR, that's their call. I don't see it as a personal attack, so I don't see any reason to ban anyone. Whether or not someone decides to apologize is really up to them. 🤷
Foodies & Dining in Feedback & Suggestions ·
The issue here is you’re operating under the wrong assumption about why he got banned. It wasn't for the reason you think, which pretty much makes this whole debate pointless.

I'm not sure if he'll be back, but I hope so. I really dug how he broke down that diner—the attention to detail was spot on and those photos were great. Seriously solid work.

Look, we'll respect your take, just like everyone else's on this board. But let's be real: that stuff was wiped because it had absolutely nothing to do with food.
Foodies & Dining in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Look, you’ve got a lot of this wrong. Seriously, if you actually want to know what went down, maybe wait until that banned user gets back online and ask them why they were kicked. If they feel like answering, that is.

As for the posts that are still up, we kept everything about the restaurants and anything that wasn't a direct attack on someone. There just wasn't much left once we cleared out the noise, so the cleanup had to be pretty aggressive. :/

I don't see why it's an issue to start a thread like this on a specific PDF if it's actually needed and doesn't exist yet.

For instance, the Gastronomy group already has a dedicated thread for this kind of thing.

Do you even know what the word EXCLUSIVELY means? 🤷

And the posts were deleted. They aren't there anymore, they aren't where they used to be, and that changes the whole flow of the conversation. Right now, it looks like I just randomly started answering your questions out of nowhere, because your post isn't sitting there between my two.

Larry Walker24 said:Look, I sent you those links about how aspartame is harmful, too. What was that all about? You just banned me.
Of course I asked for a Partial election when you guys aren't doing anything over there! Honestly, as far as I’m concerned, that Partial can stay on the foodie forum forever—at least until you and Nica step down from moderating and Patienta stops posting such nonsense. If I had to wait four years for the history department, I can easily wait ten years for the foodie forum.

He gave links saying it's harmful, she says it isn't. So where does that leave us? Am I just supposed to use my own gut feeling to decide if aspartame is actually bad for you? 🤷

This forum exists for discussion, which can get pretty heated if you let it. It’s built on people having different takes—one person says one thing, another disagrees, and that’s how the conversation moves. That shouldn't be an excuse for someone to start throwing insults just because they think the other person is wrong.

If posts like that pop up—doesn't matter if they came from you or someone else—they’re getting flagged and sanctioned.
Nica didn't even bother replying to my last thread—she just went straight to trash-talking. Honestly, though? Her insults don't phase me one bit.

I hate speaking for her, but look—if she was right there and absolutely crushed it, yet still chose to ignore you, doesn't that tell you everything you need to know? She’s answered these kinds of questions a million times before. Honestly, she could easily just copy and paste her response from the last complaint, but she didn't.
Because they only handed out those Partials "for breaking sub-forum rules" instead of just because they had a beef with some girl on the forum.

Partial elections happen for a whole bunch of reasons. Breaking sub-forum rules is just one of them. Besides, you really think being insulting isn't a violation of the Democratic Party's rules or the entire forum?

The old foodie moderation team was way better—Deedy, Poly, and the whole crew.

You're absolutely entitled to your opinion.

There’s a real issue here because if you look at the locked thread—I can shoot you a DM if you want—it’s obvious how much the patients were struggling with the rest of the community. Just because those people eventually lost the will to point out the flaws doesn't mean the problems weren't there.

That’s got nothing to do with you.

It’s tolerated, because if they didn't tolerate it, they wouldn't get the partial. I'm not acting cocky, and I'm not being rude to anyone else on the forum either. No one over there has an issue with me, except for patiente.

You got that Partial by working it out with the mods, and you were the one asking for it in the first place. Don't try to flip the script by dismissing it in one sentence and then acting proud of it in the next.

no, I'm not even claiming that!

The way you phrased it—acting like people are walking all over you while you just take it—is exactly what you're claiming.
no, she's just insulting everyone who doesn't agree with her. You clearly don't know how to read between the lines.

Guess a lot of people don't get it, and you're one of the rare ones who does. 🤷

everyone is complaining about her

So what, we just go "they're complaining, they aren't complaining, they're complaining..." forever? Is that the plan?

with so many people?! In the last 2 months, I've gotten NOTHING but bans from you and Nice—you can check for yourself.

Right, because everyone knows bans expire after two months and we all have to pretend they never happened.

And yeah, I checked, and guess what? You're lying.

yeah, like it's not worth complaining if things aren't done your way

I don't even know what else to tell you. Your appeals aren't getting through the mods, they aren't getting through the admins... maybe take a second to think about whether your complaints actually have any merit. It's impossible that everyone on this forum is wrong and you're the only one who's right.
it affects me because clearly someone gets kicked while others get a free pass

Again, no, it doesn't affect you.

Larry Walker24 said:Isn't it pathetic that a user has to request a partial review on the foodie subforum just because the mods there won't protect them from the arrogance and misinformation spread by one specific female user?

If you needed protection, you were protected. But Larry Walker24, it’s tough to shield someone who engages with a person solely through insults, regardless of whether they think that person deserves it. As for the misinformation, I'm not sure how people "protect" themselves from that—besides, the woman you're targeting always provides several links to back up what she says. She believes it, but you don't have to. Nobody is forcing you to agree with anything she writes.

(just pointing out that you admitted here that YOU requested a partial review yourself)
Isn't it sad that a lady from Nice, who always swears she's cheerful, good-natured, and honest, didn't see fit to say anything in my plea over in the banned section? Am I not worthy of any kind of response?

This situation has been seen a few times, and Nice has already made her stance clear on this exact issue before. There was no reason to think this time would be any different. By staying silent, she made it known she agrees with the response you got. Not all admins are going to dance to your tune or jump at every single question you throw out. Your inquiry wasn't ignored; the warning and the ban were explained to you.

Isn't it tragic that a partial review isn't granted for breaking rules (of which I, as part of this mod team, only received one for violating subforum rules—and that was only because the thread title was "half or whole?"; if that had been the actual title, it would look like we were talking about half potatoes!!) but rather "for insulting a user," specifically just one particular female user?

Please stop bringing up those potatoes; everyone knows that's the only post you think counts as a rule violation. Thinking that insulting others is a lesser offense isn't accurate, nor does it make sense. Breaking subforum rules isn't the only reason for a partial review; it's just one possibility. I don't know why you keep acting like it's the only one.

Isn't it sad that polly was removed from moderation because of this female user?

That really has nothing to do with you, and it isn't even true.
Quote:>
Isn't it pathetic that people just let her arrogance and total misinformation slide?
I already answered that exact same question above.

Isn't it a shame that we still haven't found any objective people to moderate Foodie (Nathan Turner3 and Nice definitely aren't it)?

🤷

Isn't it a joke? I was pointing out this exact same issue two years ago, and we’re still dealing with it today. Still hasn't been fixed.

Look, let’s rephrase this. Over those two years, the admins, the mods, even the server builds have all rotated out. And apparently, nobody lifted a finger to fix this supposed "issue." Isn't it more likely that the problem doesn't actually exist, or maybe it's just getting under your skin for reasons we don't really get?

Isn't it kind of sad? You can get away with anything on the foodie boards, but if you show even a hint of arrogance, spread misinformation, or start trolling on the politics or sports subreddits, you're immediately shut down. Most other forums around here just don't have that kind of tolerance.

Not gonna fly.

Isn't it kind of pathetic how some random lady on this forum keeps coming at me, while I’m just sitting here taking it?

Yeah, right. Like you’re some totally innocent bystander in all of this, huh?

Isn't it pathetic how one lady basically runs the whole vegetarian subreddit? If things don't go exactly her way, people just start throwing insults.

What exactly does she have a monopoly on? Just being active? You could’ve been around more than her and snatched that title for yourself. 😁

Isn't it kind of sad how that one female user keeps obsessing over foodie stuff even though everyone constantly calls her out on it?

Not everyone’s complaining about her.

Isn't it kind of sad that I don't have any issues with anyone here except for Nathan Turner3 and Nice?

How do you actually see these issues playing out? Is it just based on how many red cards get handed out? From where I'm sitting, it looks like you're running into trouble with just about everyone.
Isn't it pathetic? I’ve already racked up 17 warnings from Nice just for pointing out issues with certain users here, plus another 7 from Nathan Turner3 for the exact same reason. That's 24 warnings total simply because I call out what's going on over at Foodie (Lego). Where's their sense of ethics? Have they no shame? And you know how many warnings that one specific user has received? Zero.

Twenty-four red cards, man. Twenty-four! Even a goldfish would've picked up on the pattern by now.

Other people's mistakes aren't your problem.

Isn't it just sad?

Yeah. It really is.
Issues on the Gastronomy ( Lego subforum in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Isn't it kind of pathetic that even after 24 warnings for doing the exact same thing, you still haven't learned your lesson?

Isn't it sad that after all that drama, the only way to finally shut it down was a partial settlement?

Yeah, it’s pretty pathetic.

I could go point-by-point through every single one of your questions, but you've already been answered on all of them. Every single warning or ban has already been explained.

I only ever see her at Starbucks 😁 I’ve got a buddy who drinks nothing else, and he’s always struggling because none of those bottle recycling machines will actually take them, so I know the struggle 😁
Big ego, small man... in Feedback & Suggestions ·
So, basically, the whole day on Garbage has been nothing but nonsense fueled by people being stubborn, using weird scripts, and all that. These users won't quit even after getting two warnings from the mod, or even after the admins told them to cut it out. The argument is still going on—even if they stopped with the scripts—and now you're jumping right into the middle of it.

You have zero connection to this, and you didn't even participate, yet here you are pulling out that old warning you got for attacking the moderation (honestly, it should've been for insults, but I let it slide). You're claiming you don't respect my calls and that I'm "attacking your brave heart."

I honestly couldn't help but marvel at how you're flailing and flaming over a topic that has absolutely nothing to do with you.

Then comes your blatant insult toward me (that bit about North Korea), which is why you got a strike. That’s the second time you've insulted me on that specific subject, so you got sanctioned.

Look, I don't care what other strikes you've had or haven't had.

Jesus, it's like I'm moderating politics or something. 😵

I think this thread actually has some legs—honestly, I know plenty of people in real life who are desperate to source local food...
though maybe not in the exact way the OP envisioned (like bulk buying just to shave off a few bucks), but more along the lines of wanting things that are truly, authentically homegrown—even if it costs a little extra.

But really, wouldn't it make sense for us to use Bon Appétit to swap info on where to find the good stuff? It’s pretty obvious there’s a massive demand here but almost zero supply, so trying to pivot this whole discussion over to Craigslist just feels like a waste of time.

Case in point: I was driving through rural Pennsylvania recently and had some beef that literally just melted in my mouth—soft as butter. That wasn't some grocery store cut; it was straight from a neighbor's farm. Then a friend of mine, whose family is originally from the Midwest, managed to get her hands on half an animal from a local rancher... she also mentioned she heard about someone nearby selling raw, full-fat cow's milk and said she'd pass along the number if I wanted it. Plus, her husband has this massive haul of apples he can't process fast enough—and we aren't talking about those wax-coated ones that sit in a cellar all winter.

Actually, while we were cruising down some old backroad, I saw sheep and a couple of cows grazing right by the shoulder... I honestly wanted to pull over, just walk right up to a farmhouse, and ask them what they have for sale or if they could point us toward someone who does. My husband, predictably, refused. 🙂
I know, I know—it’s probably not the most polite way to go about it... but if anyone else out there has had a great experience finding local goods, why shouldn't we share it?

So, yeah—that's why I think a thread dedicated to alternative ways of sourcing food could be incredibly useful. 🤷

Look, if there's actual interest here, I don't see why being on Craigslist would be an issue. They deal with those kinds of listings all the time, and they probably have a better eye for spotting scammers than we do over at Bon Appétit. Like rustydrifter10 mentioned, it’s only a matter of time before people start playing games—passing off industrial junk as "farm-to-table" and whatnot. Honestly, I don't think that kind of thing belongs on Bon Appétit.

Why not just start a thread over on MTV?
