It’s just a joke. Nothing more to it.
Biased moderation on the "fifth day" thread in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Tyler Vaughn7 said:It’s not really about being biased; it’s more that the whole topic has been politicized to death. It’s lost its connection to the show itself at this point. If anyone actually wants to go on a massive, rambling tangent about it, there's already a thread over on Politics where they can go right ahead and enjoy themselves.

I'm totally with the moderator on this one, so I'm closing out this complaint.
Lady Bird (2017) in Movies ·
Honestly, I don't even know what to say. It’s just one of those movies that feels exactly like a hundred others you've already seen... such a waste of time.
Coco / Coco and the Big Secret (2017) in Movies ·
I am seriously blown away by Coco.

The way they handle death, honoring those who passed, and the whole importance of family ties is just spot on 🙏

My only gripe is that I wish the soundtrack hit a bit harder, especially since the movie puts so much heart into the music 😁
PDF Tourism - How to delete posts? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Yesterday’s deleted post was taken down for good reason (that whole bit about white racism was totally unnecessary and just derailed the conversation away from tourism).

Today's post got nuked and you got a card because you were picking at the mods—honestly, I would've given you a card myself, though I see Chris Myers was a bit more lenient since it was just off-topic. Either way, both posts were rightfully removed.

If you keep trying to drag politics into the tourism discussion, expect a ban. I don't want it to get to the point where you aren't just getting a warning first.

silentsurfer2 said:Honestly, this reply tells me exactly how much weight the thread warning carries—which is zero.
So, I’m asking for either an unbiased mod or admin to take a look at these posts, or for Goluždrava to clarify what the actual issue is.
I'm asking this without being provocative or angry—why exactly would anyone get carded in these discussions on password and chase?

The warning wasn't aimed at any specific person. The moderator just looked at some deleted posts and figured things might heat up, so she issued a preemptive heads-up to prevent issues before they started.

Don't take it as a personal attack; just see it as a nudge to keep the conversation civil so everyone stays happy.
When Mars enters Venus in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I still think the topic on the main board drifted way too much into "chat territory" since most of the posts felt more like casual banter. Like I said, there are plenty of other places for small talk and astrology.

That said, I believe there’s some actual substance left in there—those deep dives you call "analyses"—so I’m not planning on deleting it. You can still access it whenever you want to revisit something or pick up where you left off in a different thread.
When Mars enters Venus in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Locked. This isn't an astrology discussion, it's just a chat thread. Say whatever you want, but there are plenty of actual astrology threads elsewhere on the forum if you guys want to dive deep into those topics instead.

I'm gonna go ahead and delete this new thread you started.
Complaint against user LSD and moderator Taylor Swift in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Since things on Reddit aren't ever going to change—and honestly, no matter how hard anyone tries, they're just gonna hit a wall—there's really no point in chatting on here until further notice.

As for those bans people are bringing up, I’m backing the moderator on this one. I think her call was spot on.
Pure sadness and misery in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Edgar, honestly, you aren't going to find much better luck on my end either.

The first warning might seem a bit drawn out, but calling people "white" (regardless of what race you actually are) isn't exactly something we want seeing on any forum. Like Fermina pointed out later, once you start labeling folks as "yellow," then the warning actually makes sense. You should realize that kind of language just doesn't fly here, and it's standard for a moderator to step in. That’s exactly what Fermina did—she wasn't making things up or lying, she was just telling you to watch your phrasing. I don't see why you're making such a big deal out of it when she was just stating facts. And I definitely don't see how she insulted you by telling you not to call them that anymore.

As for the second warning, it's totally justified. After the moderator explicitly told you not to comment on her moderator post within the thread, you went ahead and did it anyway—even though she shouldn't have had to say it since it's clearly in the rules. You broke the subforum rules, plain and simple, so the call stands.
Moderating the Tourism Boom in Feedback & Suggestions ·
@black, deleting that post in the Christmas thread was totally justified. That thread exists so we can just wish everyone a Merry Christmas and keep things chill, not to dissect who said what and who's at fault. No matter how it’s phrased, the whole point is to spread some good vibes on the board, and you definitely don't need to overanalyze every single word and kill the mood. You kept pushing it a few times too, and if I remember right, you even started picking at the mods—which is why you got wiped again, though honestly, a warning might have been more fair.

Also, personally, I wouldn't have touched that post of yours that kicked off the whole debate about Advent in Washington, D.C. I think threads can (and should) wander a bit beyond the original post, but it looks like the mod decided to step in just to stop the discussion from spiraling into nothing but arguments about voting rules and who gets a say. She knows this community better than I do, especially the regulars over on the Tourism board and how they act. Since nobody actually got hit with a formal strike, I don't see why she had to get heavy-handed. The rest was cleared out (including here) because people were arguing with the moderation, and that's exactly what needed to be scrubbed.

Jeffrey Long said:There's no reason to act offended. 😬
You know exactly who we're talking about and how everything always circles back to the price of pizza near O'Hare, KitchenAid, mozzarella, burgers, fast food, or those overpriced restaurants with tiny portions. You guys allow this behavior, which is why it keeps happening. Am I really expected to report every single post that derails a productive conversation? Until people feel a little sting now and then, things aren't going to change. 🍿

I know exactly who you mean, no doubt. When we feel posts are crossing the line into trolling, we hand out bans. Sure, it’s tough to draw that line sometimes, and maybe because of the general vibe of the PDF, we let a little more slide than we should, but we try our best to keep things at a reasonable level of criticism before it turns into pure trolling.

Jose Miller3 said:That is a total lie.

For YEARS now, this same little clique of users has been allowed to poison every single thread in the exact same way—posting the literal same stuff week after week, just killing the vibe and ruining any conversation where they don't like what someone paid for their meal, groceries, drinks, or whatever else. They don't actually care about talking food... they just care, exclusively, about how much money other people spent on their dinner.

At first, I just laughed it off.
Then I started reporting them using the little triangle icon.
Then I was straight-up messaging the moderators, practically begging and pleading for them to actually do something.

Eventually, I just stopped posting in that subforum altogether, because honestly, what's the point of saying anything when you know the same five idiots are just gonna try to make a fool out of you because you ate a pizza/taco/burger/orange chicken/steak/foie gras somewhere and paid more than they think you should have... It's exhausting. So, here's my farewell post, prompted by that exact kind of behavior from the same group of people over and over: And that was over a year ago.

Looking at what Jeffrey Long is saying, it’s clear that absolutely nothing has changed in a year. You're still letting that same group ruin the fun of posting in that subforum for everyone else. And you aren't deleting. And you aren't issuing warnings. Because if you had been deleting or warning people all this time, those culprits would have been permanently banned ages ago—since they do it literally every single day—and actual decent people who value good food more than a couple of $1.75 dollars could actually have a normal conversation.

No, it isn't a lie. Posts get deleted and people get sanctioned when necessary.

Maybe that’s not enough for your taste, but hey, we don't all see eye to eye. We don't claim to be perfect, but we do our best so everyone on the PDF stays happy. As you know, that's an impossible mission sometimes, but we’re still taking in ideas and feedback to moderate better. You're more than welcome (like everyone else) to help us keep the thread in shape through reports or via PMOs.

By the way, I cleared out the posts about moderation from the main thread, since they didn't belong there.

If we feel a post needs to be sanctioned, we’re going to do it. That means either a warning or a straight-up ban.

Might be worth just hanging tight for a bit. The mods aren't on 24/7, but I'm sure they'll jump in if they need to.
Mods on the American Idol subreddit are censoring posts in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I wouldn't call that "artistic liberty." The moderator already gave you a polite heads-up—without even hitting you with a ban, just deleting the post—letting you know that kind of stuff doesn't belong on American Idol.
Then you went ahead and reposted the exact same thing, which is why you got flagged. There’s really no debate here about whether it was offensive or not.
The mods over there have decided that stuff like that just isn't allowed.
That’s why you got the warning, plain and simple: you brought back a deleted post.
Rachel Jones8 said:I get that maybe a DM would’ve been better, but I wanted an outside perspective. I know he’d just tell me everything is fine and better than it used to be, without actually explaining *why* it's better.

Honestly, I can't tell if the issue is him being unable to explain it, or you having trouble following his logic. Either way, if you want to dive deeper into this topic, feel free to reach out to the craftsman—he'll do his best to break it down so it makes sense to you. If you're still stuck after that, just hit us up with follow-up questions. 🙂
Honestly, I don't think this topic even needs to be an issue here. Like Robert Martin23 already pointed out, he’s just trying to organize things as efficiently as possible. I'm no expert when it comes to water heaters, so I can't say if every single type needs its own thread, but he knows what he's doing and he's the one moderating.

When a sub-thread gets split off from an older discussion, that first post can definitely look a bit weird. It's usually because they're trying to make the opening post make sense while also making sure the old thread doesn't look like it has a massive hole in it.

I'm pretty sure that's why the first post feels confusing, but at the end of the day, the thread has a title, there are other posts, and everyone knows what the debate is about. That should be plenty.

And yeah, Rachel Jones8, I agree with you—that text you quoted starting with "our long-standing experience" could have been phrased a lot better instead of being a straight copy-paste. But it's really not worth making a huge scene over. You probably could have just sent Robert Martin23 a private message to clear it up, which would've been way easier.

I'm not sure if there’s a consensus on this forum about posting personal Facebook profiles publicly, but you wouldn't see that allowed on TV or even on trash sites.

If you're really that eager to share them, just stick to private messages.
