Logitech G502 vs. Razer DeathAdder in Computer Peripherals ·
First off, you really need to get your hands on it to see if the ergonomics actually work for you—honestly, don't even sweat those inflated DPI numbers on the box, they're mostly just marketing fluff. The thing is, since Einstein was basically just dipping their toes into the gaming market with this model, I’d be a little skeptical about the build quality—not that the mouse is necessarily bad, but the Razer DeathAdder is a proven, reliable classic for a reason. Also, do yourself a favor and grab it from a legit online retailer; these things usually retail for around $220-$$77, so there's no point in overpaying some shady local vendor.

Nah, you aren't going to get a better picture. What do you mean when you say "Windows XP can't handle an HD image"?!? 😕

If the mass was supposedly 10oz, they should have checked the dimensions, calculated the volume, and then basically used math to figure out the weight—you know, like you don't have a scale sitting right there.
I'm no expert, but I highly doubt two metals with identical dimensions would actually weigh the same. We're talking about grams here—even tenths of a gram matter.
...
Either someone got seriously rich off this, though I'm pretty sure tungsten or Wolfram isn't exactly cheap.
Nice little hustle, LOL.

Given that tungsten is sitting at around a dollar and fifty cents, I'd say they made a pretty decent chunk of change. 😁

I'm thinking about grabbing a 9500 GT or something in that ballpark, but honestly, I have no clue if this one is actually any better than what I've got right now?!🤷

Look, the 9500 GT is actually weaker than your current card—you’d need to step up to a 9600 to see a real difference.

Here’s a guide I found for Hotmail: http://email.about.com/od/windowsliv...t042503wlh.htm

As for that GMX thing... honestly, I have zero clue what that is—just dig through their webmail settings; it should be pretty much similar to how Hotmail works.

What you're looking for is called a signature—it’s just a setting you tweak within whatever email client you're using to read your messages.

So, you're telling me there aren't any lighting adjustments in your Logitech webcam app? Look, cheap cameras usually skip those features entirely—it's just how they cut costs—but if you step up to something a bit more premium (maybe an extra $67 or so), you actually get some decent control over the image.

bluejackal21 said:Is there actually a waterproof webcam model out there?

Look, standard webcams are built for indoor use—period. Aside from just needing to handle a bit of rain, you really have to account for the cold. If temperatures drop too low, the hardware is basically going to give up the ghost. You’d need something with internal heating built into the housing just to keep the components alive and—more importantly—to stop the lens from fogging up constantly.

Real outdoor cameras are expensive toys:

To feels way over the top to me—I mean, even if you were sitting in a pitch-black room and dealing with those crappy IPS panels that make blacks look like washed-out gray, this is just straight-up grotesque. You should probably flip through this review; they break down a ton of the settings, so maybe try messing around with the controls yourself: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u2312hm.htm

Honestly? I’d just return it.

There could be a handful of reasons for this... maybe the resolution is set way too high, the processor is just struggling to keep up, or—you know—your internet connection is acting like a total bottleneck.

Bryan Taylor6 said:(honestly, I'm not even sure if DX11 is actually necessary)
everything would probably just run fine on Windows XP—not totally certain I even need Windows 7 for this stuff...

Windows XP only supports up to DX9 anyway, so you won't be able to touch any modern games that have dropped support for DX9.
Terry Torres11 said:A buddy of mine handed me a disc with Office 2007 on it, but he totally forgot to mention the whole thing is set to Italian. There isn't an option to switch languages within the program itself...
I did some digging online and
Tried installing these add-ons:
1.officelp2007sp1-kb936982-fullfile-en-us
2.officelp2007sp3-kb2526086-fullfile-en-us
3.outlfltr2007-kb2687407-fullfile-x86-glb
....but no luck...
Is there actually an add-on out there that changes the UI, or am I stuck downloading a completely different version of Office in English from the web? Cheers

Look, you can download language interface packs here—those are what let you swap out the actual interface and the help files to American English. Just a heads-up though: there are also language packs for things like spellcheck and grammar, which aren't the same thing as the interface packs. Microsoft decided last summer to pull the language packs for the 2003 and 2007 versions from official sale, so they aren't exactly easy to get legally anymore. Now, for Office 2010, they have these unified language packs that basically combine both types of packs into one, unlike the older versions.

The stuff you were trying to download are just service packs and an Outlook junk filter—which, frankly, has absolutely nothing to do with what you're looking for. Service packs are just collections of patches and don't care what language you've got installed.

The GT 640 is actually going to be pretty close to what you're running—honestly, most of the stuff you listed are just pathetic compared to it. You’d be better off hunting for something used, because for $150 there's no way you're picking up anything remotely decent if you insist on buying new.

Michael Harris93 said:I'm running Windows 7 64-bit on a Phenom X4 945, and I just picked up a cheap, used NVIDIA GTX 285 (DirectX 10) from a buddy for about $250. Honestly, the card is a beast—it handles Battlefield 3 at roughly 38-55 FPS on max settings with 4x AA
.

But here’s the thing—whenever I try to run Crysis 2 with the DirectX 11 patch, or Metro 2033, or Batman: Arkham City, I keep getting this constant error message (from Windows itself, not the game) saying my hardware doesn't support DirectX)

I actually ran into this exact same headache with my old card (a 7900 GT running DirectX 9) while playing Crysis on Windows XP SP2. But back then, I found this little tweak—sort of a virtual trickery where you feed the DirectX commands and the game fake info to make it think I had a DirectX 10 card—and I finally managed to unlock the Very High settings. It works fine for Battlefield 3 and anything else using the Frostbite engine, too. This setup is basically my old rig that my little cousin uses to play games whenever she comes over to visit.

The difference is that Crysis itself supports both DirectX 9 and DirectX 10; all you had to do was add something like "-dx9" to the shortcut's command line and the game would force itself to run in DirectX 9 mode. Newer games just don't work like that anymore. It has nothing to do with the version of Windows you're using.

Michael Harris93 said:It’s driving me crazy—I’m getting maybe 50 fps on some games, but I can't even touch the max settings because this stupid DirectX 11 block from Windows won't even let me launch the game in the first place.

What kind of "block" are you even talking about?!? Look, if you're running a DirectX 9 card, then obviously you aren't going to be able to play games that require DirectX 10 or 11. Especially not if you're still stuck using Windows XP.
