Gerald Jackson48 said:Personally, I find Lateralus to be one of their least engaging records. It feels like they completely abandoned that sense of humor and self-deprecation that made their early stuff so great, opting instead to dive headfirst into pure esotericism. “Saturn ascends, choose one or ten...” If I actually wanted to explore my astrological destiny, I’d go pick up some collected works by Baba Vanga or maybe just blast some Blind Guardian.

But honestly, they try to pivot back on 10,000 Days with lyrics like “I shit the bed” in some smoke-filled outlet. Even then, the album as a whole feels a bit fractured, probably because they made the mistake of ditching Bottrill behind the boards.

That’s all down to personal taste. I’m a huge Tool fan, and Lateralus is easily my favorite of theirs. If I had to rank them, it would be Lateralus, Undertow, Ænima, Fear Inoculum, and only then 10,000 Days.

As for Grudge, you can interpret it a hundred different ways—if you want to pull in astrology, go for it. Some tracks definitely have double meanings, but most of them are pretty straightforward.

Haven't checked out this Can record yet, but I'll give it a listen.

Did anyone actually think it was a good idea to drop this My Bloody Valentine track in some 8 kbps mess? It’s basically unlistenable, even for someone like me who actually enjoys noise 😁

To be fair, I struggle to get through MBV even on their standard studio releases 😁

Jamie Davis9 said:First off, just read poetry if you want; there’s zero reason to actually listen to them.
And more importantly, they’re all just basic-ass parasites making noise.

Exactly. Go grab some Whitman and get lost in it. 😁

I honestly walked out thinking a little bit of rain and wind wouldn't hurt, especially with all the trash blowing through the streets, but none of that actually matters because nothing compares to how much I love listening to Baretta. ))

Baretta is incredible; I’m obsessed with those albums he did with the moms back in the 90s.

It’s basically a free-for-all festival of democracy here, so let them stay anonymous if they want.👍

The emotional connection is what really matters to me; there are certain albums I just love so much that it actually hurts when they don't make the cut.

Then again, maybe what I personally value isn't even groundbreaking or particularly brilliant.

Honestly, I’m starving for some live shows, even if they end up being absolute garbage 😁

"i was on a flight Back fra Germany , and i was looking AT my iPod, and I checked my top ten favorites or whatever, and it was basically just Clutch, Puny human, Fireball Ministry, and Led Zeppelin. Since I was currently tracking stuff in my home studio, I ended up calling everyone except Led Zeppelin—obviously—to come over to my place. We started out working on maybe two or three tracks, but that quickly snowballed into five, then eight, then ten, and now we've actually got twelve songs ready to go."

Dennis Hall41 said:Let’s not lose sight of the fact that this was, if I’m remembering correctly, not just the biggest concert ever, but easily one of the largest gatherings of people in history.

Edit - actually, it is; here's the link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...ended_concerts

But honestly, at the end of the day, the concert itself matters less than the context. That show in Pasadena back in '91 was more of a symbol marking the end of an era—specifically the collapse of the USSR and the Cold War. Historically speaking, that gives it way more weight than anything else.

As for these pointless polls, I wouldn't have any issue with them if the actual subject matter was worth our time, provided there was a legitimate review attached instead of some half-baked garbage. If you’re that desperate to get picked, try contributing something substantial instead of just slapping on an "Album of the Week" label.

It’s a shame about Josip; even if it didn't quite hit the heights of Diary of a Love, I still feel bad that he didn't see more success.

Why don't you suggest some GG Allin instead? I dare you!! 😁

Charles Ramos4 said:If I’m counting correctly, this is that 35th anniversary tour. I caught them back when they were touring during the flu season, and man, they were incredible. Honestly, they’ve always been top-tier for me when it comes to live shows. I’m a bit confused by what Amanda Robinson4 is saying about Seja’s tedious stories potentially killing the vibe of the concert, though. It’s possible she might be overdoing it by a few percent, but personally, I haven't noticed her rambling too much—or maybe I've just gotten used to it over the years and don't even register it anymore. 😁

My little guy, dead drunk, was just sitting there waiting for "Piccola storia de grande amore," but that idiot wouldn't shut up. He kept rambling on and on, so I finally had to snap at him and tell him to "shut the hell up and sing." It didn't do much good—it didn't help the band, and it definitely didn't help the crowd.

If I didn't feel like I was actually dying this morning, I’d probably end up living out my days like some washed-up old politician—just one of those legendary, bottom-of-the-barrel benders that leaves you questioning every life choice you've ever made. Honestly, that was easily one of the worst hangovers of my entire life.

Mark Cruz15 said:I’ve never really heard of that Elvis guy, and I didn't listen to much Kurtović back in the day. As for those three albums from Puscifer, they each have at least five classics, so picking a favorite is nearly impossible. Honestly, if you want a killer live show, nothing beats them or Psihomodo Pop.

I am totally with you on Psihomodo Pop; they are an absolute blast and so engaging when they play live.

Personally, I find Puscifer a bit tedious. That frontman kills the vibe with his endless rambling; one time I actually felt like throwing a beer at him. If I wanted to sit around listening to someone tell stories, I’d just stay home and watch some local news.

Dennis Hall41 said:Metallica - Ride the Lightning (1984)

It’s more than just metal; it's better than the world itself.

Once you've officially covered the metal section with this album, I'll step up and cover hip hop.😁

Faust vs Dälek - massive respect, man.

Tracklist: A1 Imagine What We Started
A2 Hungry For Now
A3 Remnants
A4 Dead Lies
B1 Erratic Thoughts
B2 Bullets Need Violence
B3 Collected Twilight
B4 T-Electronique

Dälek is that experimental hip hop outfit from New Jersey that I actually caught live once, and they left a hell of an impression on me. They've moved away from that typical gangster rap nonsense and are making actual music using quality noise samples—though I was dealing with ringing in my ears for about ten days after that show. Faust is a German experimental group, so this collaboration is pretty damn interesting to me.
