I don't know, man... just feels like we're missing the point here. Everything is moving so fast lately... almost too fast to keep up with. Honestly? It’s kind of exhausting... kaže:
Chill out on those hormones...
Book club rules
First things first—signing up. By the end of this week, anyone interested in joining the PDF group activities should sign up under the "book club members" thread. That thread stays open, but if you wait until after Sunday, you’ll be stuck at the bottom of the suggestion list... basically last in line. Everyone who signs up by Sunday will be ranked by their total forum post count (highest to lowest), and that's the order we'll use when suggesting books for our group reads.
Once the book club member list is set, the first member kicks things off on Monday by opening a public poll thread (you'll see who voted for what) featuring three different titles. These polls—this one and all future ones—run until Friday, when the winner gets declared as our next read. If you're the one suggesting titles, you gotta include a quick blurb about the author and the book itself. All suggestions need to be available in English, though we might eventually have a little sub-group that sticks to reading everything in its original language or specific translations...
Each reading cycle lasts three weeks, starting the Monday after the title is announced. If we pick something massive, we can talk to the group and maybe stretch the deadline out a bit... or shorten it, depending on the vibe.
No talking about the actual plot before the deadline hits. Seriously. However, over on Bookmarks—which is our main community chat—you can definitely hype people up and let them know how far you've gotten. Just... NO spoilers. Not even a hint. Any spoiling will get you punished, period.
After the three weeks are up, we'll open a thread formatted as 'book title - comment'. It might be a poll too, where everyone rates the book. The person who suggested the title is the one who opens the thread.
Only people who actually finished the book are allowed to join the discussion. Anyone else caught chiming in will be flagged for trolling.
The poll for the next cycle's three titles opens on the final Monday of the current cycle... so two weeks after we started.
Inside the Book club, you're only supposed to open threads specifically mentioned in these rules. For anything else literary, just head over to the general Literature section.
