until the whole point of both sides just gets lost in the shuffle.
And look, it’s not like this is some fine art where everyone needs to act civilly so the users and the mods don't have any drama.
ruggedfox28, I honestly have no idea how you expected me to just hand you something that's clearly against the rules here.
Isn't that kind of disrespectful?
If I slap you with a 7-day ban like I'm supposed to, then you're gonna complain about how the Admin is being too harsh and doesn't get you.
redheron12 said:Yeah, real effective method there 🙄
I was banned for over a year—didn't show up on the forum, hell, I didn't even have internet... meanwhile, every single newbie gets labeled as my clone or some ban candidate, and some of them actually ended up getting into massive fights with the mods.
So I come back after a year, ask a mod to lift the ban, and this jerk just starts throwing insults at me 🤦

it’s usually when someone catches your eye—either because of their style, or just pure stupidity, or... well, you know
you get people who are basically clones of banned users, but they've cleaned up their act and aren't pulling the same stunts that got them kicked out, so sometimes the mods look the other way
the issue is those types often forget why they were booted in the first place, start acting up again, and then—bam, gone
unfortunately for anyone using various proxy servers, having different IP addresses doesn't guarantee any kind of stealth mode, just like it doesn't work for people trying to manually swap out their own IP addresses
true, it would be easiest if we only allowed logins via an email linked to a specific Comcast account, but at the end of the day, this forum is just for fun and there's no point in bringing in heavy-duty security protocols

Still haven't figured out what actually caused it, though... didn't bother looking.
Last year during the final NASCAR race, Casey Stoner had a similarly bizarre exit during a warm-up lap. If I remember correctly, Stoner was running with Repsol back then.
Hard to believe (especially if you're rooting for him), but hey, it happens...

I love seeing drivers squeeze every single drop of potential out of their car and themselves throughout a race weekend by just being hyper-optimized. Honestly, the most gripping season I ever watched was probably 2006. It was just two absolute masters going head-to-head from start to finish, basically playing a high-stakes game of who could make fewer mistakes to stay one step ahead of perfection. Plus, there was that extra satisfaction of seeing Fernando Alonso, who’s younger and way more likable in my book, eventually edge out Michael Schumacher. Jenson Button was a solid example last year too—taking wins when they were actually on the table, then pivoting to damage control once the window closed. If I had to pick, Schumacher's 2003 title is the one I respect the most for those exact reasons. Now, don't get me wrong, Kimi is undeniably a much more "exciting" driver to watch, but all that unnecessary pushing, setting track records on the final lap, and acting reluctant to back off even when things are breaking down... it’s a bit much. I thought that stuff was cool about Ayrton Senna when I was a kid, but honestly, it feels like a show put on for hyped-up teenagers. Just a bunch of restless kids burning rubber at the lights—Lewis Hamilton is kind of headed down that same path lately. These days, I find myself more drawn to mature drivers who actually know how to manage a race; I have a lot of respect for that level of skill. It goes back to Fangio's whole doctrine: you should win by the smallest margin possible that still gets you the trophy. And that’s exactly why (well, not *only* because of that) I consider Fangio to be the greatest and most complete Grand Prix driver to ever live...
stormyviper11 said:Look, I'm repeating myself here, but that was just an internal comparison between those six guys. I don't know if "trashing" them is really the right word.
If you look at the bigger picture, Schumacher Schumacher and Alonso are easily top 10 drivers of all time. Hamilton could definitely get there. Kimi Räikkönen and Button are the type of drivers who snagged a title and you can't really fault them—they aren't the absolute best ever, but they aren't the worst to ever win one either. Then there's Webber, the underdog who finally got a shot at the title and will probably stay right there (kind of like Jacques Laffite, Michele Alboreto, Heinz-Harald Frentzen, Eddie Irvine, or Felipe Massa). They're all solid drivers that I respect in my own way.
My point was basically that if you made an all-time list based on a mix of pure talent and actual results, the ranking would follow the order of their championship wins (or in Webber's case, when they actually had a shot at it). For instance, I personally think Button is a better, more complete driver than Kimi Räikkönen, but because of the gap in wins and seasons spent at the top, Kimi is objectively ahead of him.
And as for that idea that my opinions shift every few races? I don't buy it. A bad season for his old man might shake up his reputation a bit, but it shouldn't erase what he's done. Alonso's string of mistakes early this season might mean he isn't the best driver of 2010, but there's zero doubt he's been the best of this entire decade. Or, if I can brag a little: 😁 - last year someone wrote that nobody could tell how good Button was until he got into a real car, and I dug up a post of mine from 4-5 years ago where I argued that anyone in a great car would be fighting for titles... People change and grow, sure, but it's rare for someone to truly explode onto the scene without any warning, like Webber did this year. To me, he's a surprise, just like Massa was in 2008, whereas Button wasn't a surprise last year.
As for those predictions about how things might change, I'm totally with you. Honestly, my biggest fear is that the scenario for Hamilton plays out, and we end up seeing a whole new level of ruthlessness on the track in the next decade. That kid might actually end up being even more cold-blooded than Senna or Schumacher Schumacher.

Even Fernando Alonso isn't any better when it comes to that stuff🤣

stormybadger8 said:I honestly don't get what people have against Sebastian Vettel.
He rolled up to McLaren in a car that was basically a rolling trash can, yet he still pulled off a masterclass season in 2008. Honestly, I can't remember anyone else looking that damn good in a mid-field—if not bottom-tier—car. And the guy never once trashed his team, even though he had every reason to. Between the mechanical failures and the sheer stupidity from the crew over the last three seasons, he’s dealt with more headaches than Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton, and Fernando Alonso combined during that same stretch. Yet, not once did he run his mouth about them. Not even a word.
Honestly, I don't think anyone else—not even Fernando Alonso—has ever made such a massive impact while driving for a mid-tier team.
Mark Webber never actually showed what he was capable of until he finally got a fast car under him. Before that, all he really had to offer was his massive ego, a stubborn streak a mile wide, and an absurd amount of luck whenever he decided to force things.🤷
Honestly, him winning the title would be just like when Rubens took it last year—or maybe more like Jenson Button’s run. It’s almost cute because we're watching an average driver at the tail end of his career finally show some life. After years of grinding just to scrap for a single point here or there, he’s suddenly in the hunt for a championship. I get it. It’s nice to see a mid-tier guy suddenly become the big shot. I guess people just need to inflate their own expectations, hoping that one day they might stumble into something huge out of nowhere too.🤷
People love to claim Sebastian Vettel is washed up, spoiled, or just plain desperate this season. Honestly? Give me a break. The guy’s made maybe two or three driving mistakes all year. That's about it.😕
If we’re really going to try and compare his nonsense to Lewis Hamilton or Fernando Alonso, then he’s basically a preschooler compared to those guys.☕
The only ones I can't stand are:
Jenson Button? Honestly, I think he’s a total pushover. He can’t put on any pressure, can't even attempt an overtake—nothing. Then you’ve got Mark Webber, who's driving two seconds slower than the leaders while running on tires that are basically disintegrating. He’s such a soft target that they let the other guys bully him just so their golden boy can stay the Number One star.🙄
I honestly don't get how you can just let this slide without a single word of protest. You're letting Mr. Perfect delete stuff immediately without even putting up a fight. Honestly, even Felipe Massa seems like he'd be more likely to stand his ground and say, "Hey, hold on, I'm not some puppet you can just push around," than Jenson Button is.🤦
Lewis Hamilton? Please. He’s such a spoiled brat. He shows up whenever he feels like it, then acts all innocent with that smug little grin, claiming he never meant any harm. Oh, and let's not forget how he suddenly got handed a top-tier car and total, undivided support from the entire team. Despite all that, he barely scraped by to win a title—literally at the very last second. When the pressure is actually on, he crumbles like a cheap cookie. Look, I get it, the kid has style and occasionally drives like an absolute beast, but seriously? What kind of idiot pulls stunts like that when the championship is on the line? It’s just not normal. If he had a 100-point lead with five races left, would that even be enough for him?🤣
I’m not even joking—I saw those two retirements coming a mile away. I was 100% sure everything would go sideways. Honestly, I don't see him pulling off more than maybe two decent races before the season ends; everything else is just going to be a disaster. It wouldn't even surprise me if he finishes ahead of Jenson Button in the standings by the end of the year.
As for Fernando Alonso—sure, he’s on a massive run right now, but I can't stand this whole "everyone in the team has to be his servant" thing just so he can actually drive a decent car.🙄 This season has been pathetic for him. To be blunt, he only looks competent once the entire team sides with him and turns Felipe Massa into a complete joke. Before that, Alonso was nowhere to be found, and I honestly can't wrap my head around it.🤷
Either he's got some major inferiority complex and needs that "ultimate No. 1" status to pump up his ego, or he's just acting like a child. I seriously don't get it.🤷
Mark Webber is honestly more likable than the three guys mentioned above, but I can't bring myself to root for him. Sebastian Vettel is just my guy.
Jason Campbell70 said:The last time I actually prayed for rain was back in '99. 😁
I was just catching up with a colleague. It got me thinking... when was the last time I actually sat through a race that was washed out from start to finish? A race where we started in the rain and just stayed in it for the entire duration?
Monza - Vettel - Red Bull Racing - 2008?
Between the rain, the floodlights, the barriers—and that inevitable Safety Car—is anyone actually going to win this without a massive stroke of luck?
Well, if those rain forecasts actually hold up, I'm putting my money on Lewis Hamilton.
That guy's got luck on his side, even if he's clearly lacking in the brains department. 😁

First off—congrats to feralorca82 and gentlebadger88. That was actually pretty intense and a fun ride to watch.
To everyone else, thanks for the entertainment—honestly, it’s been a minute since I’ve been this sucked into some movie trivia stuff. Let's clash keyboards on some other threads soon. 🙂
ruggedfox28 and Ferstar—where did you guys vanish to yesterday? It definitely would've made for a better fight if you'd shown up.
Anthony Smith3—really clever setup. Honestly, the rest of us should probably try to be at least half as creative and come up with something similar. You were basically giving out technical advice on the images, and that ninja bit was awesome. A huge 👍 for all the effort put into this whole thing.
My take? Five stars across the board. But, like David Price5 already mentioned, maybe next time we should handle more of this via PM. Using copy/paste definitely helped a lot of people (myself included), so making it a bit more complicated—you know, harder, where it depends on the individual rather than just a group of identical answers—might be better. Everything else was great—imaginative, well-thought-out, tough but not impossible (plenty of people nailed those cross-referenced images), and just plain fun. The best part was how everything stayed focused on the action genre; even when things got confusing (like how I initially thought that first image from die hard 2 was from K9-Widowmaker because of the hat), you could always pivot based on the genre itself.
So... yeah, that's the gist. 😁
