The timing on 😁 😁 😁 is pretty suspicious, though... the post was sanctioned at the exact same moment this thread was launched 🙂

As for the rest of it, I honestly don't have an answer for you. You'll probably have to wait for someone else to chime in. 🤷

For example, they told me I could just buy a ticket at the West station from Podsused to Savski Marof...
since my Amtrak/CTA pass covers me all the way to Podsused... and then I’d just pay the difference for the rest of the trip...

Have you been commuting like that recently, or...?

The last time was late last summer (back in 2008). 🤔

I actually remember reading about it in the papers—they were really highlighting this issue that hits so many students and working folks hard. Maybe they finally changed things because the public pressure got too high...🤷

In Princeton, you can grab a ticket all the way to Springfield, but if you’re in Chicago, there's no way to get from Springfield back to Princeton. 😉

For instance, you can grab a ticket at the main station, and it covers everything from the outskirts all the way out to Savski Marof...

Are you sure about that?

A while back, when I was still using my Amtrak pass, I used to head out to see friends in Princeton quite often, and that pass would actually get me all the way to Arlington. But at the Chicago station, I could never just buy a ticket from Springfield to Princeton—it was either the entire long-distance route or nothing. Otherwise, I’d have to get off in Springfield, buy a separate ticket, and just sit around waiting for the next train. 😬

It’s not just that, either. People spend all day walking around their houses in shoes—and yeah, I'm looking at you, ladies, in those high heels 🙏 🙏 🙏

In movies, of course, 😁

Give me a break... 😁 you've got to be kidding me. I literally bought a brand new computer just the other day—yeah, a BRAND NEW one 🙏 and since then, at least ten times a day, pages just refuse to load completely 😕

And I’m strictly using Firefox, still have my settings set to 20 posts per page, and no, I am NOT seeing them... 🙂

slycrane94 said:Lucky for you, multi-quote isn't working anyway, so you didn't miss a thing. 🙂

You might be joking, but it's working fine for me. 🙂 😕

Alex Barnes8 said:It actually caught me off guard a few months back when I got an email from Reddit letting me know my inbox was nearly full.😕 I had no idea they even sent those out. Then there was this other time where my inbox was completely slammed and I didn't get a single notification.🤷 Do you guys also get an alert sent to your private email when your inbox is full? I don't mean these internal site messages... I mean straight to your actual email address. The one tied to your real name. 🤷

The vBulletin software is set up to automatically trigger those emails once the inbox hits a certain limit; it's just how it's configured. That doesn't, of course, mean the moderators can't see your email address if they wanted to.
hiddenhound3 said:Suppressing your emotions does not imply they simply do not exist; rather, it means you are exercising control over your reactions, which, if we are being honest, is often the wiser path to take.😁

The opening post says, "let's accept this state of affairs without emotion."

If "without emotion" is meant to describe the way we should "accept," then I clearly misunderstood your sentence—unlike you, apparently—so I’m asking the author to clarify what they actually meant.

But if "without emotion" is describing the "state of affairs" itself, then I understood the original post perfectly fine, and I’m sticking to my guns.
Charles Richardson50 said:I’ve finally embraced this state of complete neutrality—no reactions, no expectations, no highs, no lows, and certainly no fear. I don't expect anything from life because, frankly, it’s all just fleeting; the time we’re granted is such a
tiny blip in the vastness of the universe that it’s hardly worth making a fuss about.
Don't mistake me for being a pessimist or someone struggling with depression; it’s more of a simple realization. This brief existence we have is a gift, really, and it should be lived through without the weight of massive expectations—much like how a butterfly lives out its few days and then simply vanishes. Our fate is already written, and since we are essentially condemned to pass through this world, we might as well accept that reality without letting emotions get in the way.

Honestly, I’d rather live just one single day feeling everything I’m supposed to feel than spend an entire lifetime drifting through it like this.

So, I told them all along—it wasn't some weird browser glitch... 😁

But whatever. If you really want to fix this mess, just set the view to 20 posts per page. Honestly, that’s the only bit of advice I can offer at this point... 😢

It’s always the same story at my job; the IT guys just flat-out told me there’s no way to fix it. 🙄
They also claimed the issue is likely just my browser, since I'm stuck using Internet Explorer at the office and don't have the permissions to install anything else...

I've tried to make things slightly less miserable by adjusting my settings to show 20 posts per page instead of the usual 40 default forum setting.

A quick Google search should probably do the trick, though.
And there it is. The reality finally hits us... 🙂 😁

Just reach out to the admin, Desiree, and lay out your whole situation to her. None of the moderators here have the authority to help you with this...

dustypuma5 said:I'm hoping you'll actually explain yourself now, because who even are you to start lecturing me on my own reasons for doing this?
I honestly don't know what people let themselves get away with these days...

Asking for a permanent account change without any actual explanation or valid reason—like you got into a fight on Reddit, or someone from your real life is stalking you, or something concrete—but instead, it's EXCLUSIVELY just because you felt like it, you suddenly don't want to post anymore, oh heavens forbid, and then you want to clone your profile... yeah, that's just ridiculous. Like, why?
If you don't want to write—fine, turn off the damn computer and go watch a game or play some soccer outside.
If you do want to write—okay, just come back and post, so why all this drama and attention-seeking "please give me a perm, boohoo" nonsense? 🤷
(As I said, this applies to cases where it's just a whim rather than a specific issue tied to the username.)
In my opinion, if you're going to ask for a perm, the least you can do is be polite enough to provide at least a rough reason, rather than just asking on a random impulse.

And I have no idea which rules you think you've broken, because from where I'm sitting, you're alive, well, and posting on the forum just fine, so what more could you possibly want?

Besides, why on earth should I—someone who doesn't even have the authority to see who banned you or why, nor the power to fix it in any way—have to "get involved in your case"... 😕
The list of admins is right there; you can message them. You have access to the help desk, so you can bring attention to your situation there too, since it clearly hurts you so much that you're hijacking other people's threads just to talk about it.

dustypuma5 said:So, walk me through this...
- can an account clone of a banned user get banned if the original user requested to be retired on their own terms?

I don't know, because like I said before, I haven't heard of anyone just asking for a permanent ban out of the blue without some pretty heavy justification.

Either way, the whole idea of requesting a permanent ban and then immediately cloning the account is incredibly rare...

dustypuma5 said:- Can a moderator from, say, one subforum ban someone on another subforum based on a complaint filed against them?

Any moderator, anywhere, can ban a clone of a banned user. Period.

dustypuma5 said:I can back all of this up with links. Send me a DM if you want. But if you insist, I can post them here too.

There's really no need for that. I don't know who you are, I don't care to, and I certainly have no interest in getting involved in your personal drama; I only stepped into this thread to provide general info on the forum rules, which, let's face it, aren't always crystal clear.

dustypuma5 said:Edit: There might have been several people involved in extending that permanent ban, but after I made my request, it was ZGMSash who issued it—and if I recall correctly, he was never even an admin. So, maybe he consulted with the admins, but either way, it looks like none of your explanation actually holds water.

ZGMSash was a supermoderator, and he had the authority to issue a ban at his own discretion on any subforum where you posted.

dustypuma5 said:What if I just ask to retire my username? Like, I wouldn't even want to post under this handle anymore, so just ban me permanently.
And then, fast forward a year later, you come back with a clone account.
Is that actually allowed?

It’s pretty unlikely anyone is going to ban you permanently just because you feel like it. 🤷 Maybe for a few days, sure, but a permanent ban? I doubt it. If anything, you'd need a really solid argument for that. And besides, the moderators don't have that kind of authority; that's more of an admin thing...
