Look, I honestly believe that's exactly how some people see it...

The absolute peak of intellect, right... 😁

Oh please, nothing screams "intellectual heavyweight" quite like trying to shut someone down with a "go play in another sandbox, honey," while laughing at your own pathetic attempt at wit... 😁

So, your "I bet nobody noticed" part doesn't really hold up. 🙂

Thanks for the info, I'll go let the sysadmins know. 🙂

No worries at all. Honestly, what I read just left me feeling pretty grossed out. 🤦

When I said "I bet nobody noticed," I was talking about the people in charge—the mods and admins. If they had seen it, they would've scrubbed it already. But honestly, it feels like nobody's even home today. I just sent an email to the boss a moment ago, too...🤦

If you want to read about "establishing fairness and justice," check out the Miscellaneous section under the Moderator Corner,
which is open to us regular forum users, dating back to 2004. For instance, look up the topic List for...
part 3, and so on. 🙄 Once I read it, I wondered why we should even bother
writing more, whether in the complaint book pdf religion or the complaint book? 🤦 Something, 🙄 well,
has changed. Yeah, right. ☕ If I had seen that sooner, I would have saved myself
time, nerves, and even some cash. 🥳

Best,

😲 Jesus Christ, I feel like nobody noticed that this is VISIBLE AGAIN after they've already hacked our moderator tools a few times already... 🙄

Thanks for the info, I'm going to go report this to the system admins. 🙂
Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
...who specializes in bacteriology. I don't have all the details yet—I'm still waiting on the guy to get back to me with the actual diagnosis—but the bottom line is that this person is dealing with some kind of bacterial cocktail that's essentially eating away at the flesh on their leg. From the inside out.

I really want to point them toward a solid private specialist who can actually cure the underlying issue, rather than someone who just hacks away at necrotic tissue all day.

Any leads? 🤷

Look, I have nothing against anyone having grievances with certain groups, and I certainly don't mind people sharing their opinions on those matters. If someone, for instance, holds a specific view regarding same-sex marriage or adoption, that is their right—and they should be able to state it freely without fear of being penalized. However, if that expression turns into insults and ridicule, then it really ought to be sanctioned—because, let's face it, nobody enjoys being mocked like that, and I truly believe such behavior warrants a penalty. I'm all for jokes that are funny and don't cross the line, but I'm not for this—and honestly, if I had phrased my examples the way you did (I was just being sarcastic!), I’m certain I would have been handed a warning card. In my view, the moderators—who are supposed to serve as a sort of moral compass, assuming they earned their positions through their own conduct—shouldn't be letting this slide. I realize things might not change and that these behaviors often go unpunished, but I have to say, I'm quite disappointed in you 🙂 and, generally speaking, in how this forum and its leadership are being handled. Moving forward, I'll see you as someone who mocks people with differing views—or at least someone who enables that mockery (though I can't tell if you're doing the mocking yourself right now). And yeah, I won't WHINE anymore, but—well, this is a big "no" from me, Bu-Bu.

What am I supposed to justify myself with? Some half-baked op-ed in USA Today?...

If you're going to post something on this forum, you better be ready for the fallout... because you can't just drop a comment and then hide under the covers when people start pushing back. You say it, you own it... and you deal with whatever comes your way.
Look, we’re not running a playground here. Insults and personal attacks aren't allowed, and if you decide to go that route, expect to be sanctioned for it...
Mockery... man, there are like a thousand different shades to it. A thousand different ways you can pull it off, ranging from the subtle, low-key jabs to the ones that are just straight-up genius. And the worst part? No, it’s not even illegal here...
Someone’s definitely going to feel like a complete idiot once they get laughed out of the room...

Lucifer, seriously... it feels like every single joke and every damn sentence is designed specifically to offend someone.

So, based on your logic, we should probably start handing out penalties whenever someone says something like, "Hey, you skinny girls really need to eat more so your boyfriend actually has something to hold onto..." 😂 😂"

Just give me an example of a harmless little post that you’d actually punish, based on those specific criteria you’re always throwing in my face... 🙂 Look, at the end of the day, that whole post is just picking on skinny girls... 🙄 Oh, please...

I wouldn't be caught dead stepping foot in a sterile forum like that, thanks but no thanks...

Since, based on that bolded sentence, it's clear you haven't even realized I've been mocking you throughout this entire debate, it seems you can't even recognize sarcasm when it hits you. So please, refrain from commenting on it in the future, because you clearly lack the competence to judge, and your take on what should be sanctioned is incredibly selective and unfair. 😁
How do I report a moderator? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Yeah, I mean, what you wrote is mostly accurate if we’re just looking at this from a purely practical standpoint. 😁

Look, nobody is stopping you from making fun of someone or something; if you haven't noticed by now, about 75% of the posts on this Reddit rules board consist of people just mocking their interlocutors.

If it's done in a clever way, then sure, it can be entertaining and witty.

But when it's done the way you just did it, then it's... oh well, it's just mindless mockery that says way more about the person writing it than the person they're actually trying to target. 😁

Some girl I know from the Teens told me she saw you—honestly, I'm a little jealous!😢
And yeah, I think one moderator actually claimed that the mods on this PDF are untouchable. Personally? I'm all for implementing penalties for moderators. Now, I know—before you even say it—that some will argue most people like how things are run (but if "most" just means a handful of mods, then Gauss is probably turning in his grave), but letting this kind of stuff slide while that woman is still a moderator? That definitely doesn't sit right with the majority.
So, I’m voting for actual penalties for mods, or at the very least, letting them go—I mean, we're in a recession, you can always find an excuse to downsize! It's time to finally deal with the moderation issues over at Alternative. Because the MAJORITY does not agree with how this forum is being handled, and the whole structure needs a makeover before people start filing actual legal complaints and formal grievances. This isn't a threat or some subtle hint that I'm going to do it myself, but seriously—if you keep going like this, you won't last long. There are people out there ready to take action, and word is they already have (at least according to the rumors). Just some friendly advice. 😘

Oh, please, stop whining 🙄about what exactly makes this post so terrible that it deserves a ban?
(Since my subforum is apparently getting dragged into this debate anyway.)

Your signature was pulled because it was way too bulky, and no, it wasn't because of the images or any "stupid" content.
We didn't send you a PM beforehand because the Reddit rules regarding signatures have been around for over two years now... at this point, it’s assumed everyone has read them and is on board. 😬

Don't worry, you haven't lost your signature forever. Myself and the other moderators still have access to it, so if you want me to just type it out for you, I can...

That's actually pathetic. 😁

Hey, the topic is on John Doe. 😕

This all started back before I ever stepped in as a moderator over there.

All the moderators at CNN—both then and now—decided it stays. And they’ve posted in it too.
If I went deleting stuff now, I’d just be undermining their credibility. That’s not something I’d ever consider doing. Not a chance.

Assuming you aren't someone's clone, I'm guessing you've been on this forum for what, maybe three months?
That's still not enough time for you to judge how this place works or how we handle the banter.

By your logic, some of the greatest threads in history (think: the Squid thread) should be wiped because they started out as a joke. No. Nobody actually sat around acting like a complete lunatic with a squid, but that thread is legendary. It stays on the forum. It’ll stay here until the servers crash...

I didn't even find out who started that thread or why they did it until months after it opened, so you have absolutely no right to come at me or my colleagues with accusations based on that.

Believe it or not, a huge number of threads on this site are born purely out of messing around.
If you told me a thread like that bothered you in, I don't know, Politics or Real Estate, then fine, sure.

But on John Doe 😕 look, there isn't a single thread there that wasn't started as a joke. There isn't. That specific sub-forum exists for that purpose; the rules are relaxed, and the mods have no intention of changing that.
What you choose to write about in Politics or what kind of threads you start there is none of my business. Go ahead and try it; I've never moderated there and I have zero intention to. But on John Doe, any thread that's remotely funny, entertaining, or catchy is staying put. People will troll it, chat in it, and make fun of everything, because that's just what that section is for. If you don't like it, there's the door.

It’s obvious my comment offended you; you really shouldn't take it personally. I’ve had moments where I responded way too seriously to Smith's threads, for instance. Then a little time passes, you realize you looked like an idiot, and you just bite your tongue and move on...

You don't start new threads complaining that someone else made a joke thread just because you took it personally and think it needs to be deleted. 😁
