Hey everyone, I’m curious—has anyone here actually gone through with turbinate reduction (that procedure where they burn off the nasal lining)?

I just got back from an appointment, and my doctor recommended seeing Dr. Grgić over at the Mayo Clinic... so now I'm wondering how the surgery actually went for people. Specifically, if you had it done maybe 2 or 3 years ago, how is your breathing holding up lately? Like, did it actually stick?

Honestly, any info you guys can throw my way would be huge.

Got a quick question about this whole nose situation I've got going on.

I've been "battling" my own sinuses for years now—basically, I'll spend a few hours breathing through one nostril while the other is completely slammed shut, and then it just flips. Totally ridiculous.

So, back about two months ago, I went to see my doctor, and he told me it’s actually not even a deviated septum... instead, he said something is seriously messed up with my mucous membrane and suggested some kind of cauterization? 😕 Like, what am I supposed to burn? My nasal lining?

He put me on a month-long treatment plan—Nasonex spray and some saline rinse (I used Ocean spray)—but honestly, it did absolutely nothing. So now he's extended the prescription for another two months. One month into the extension already, and yeah... zero progress to report.

The doc mentioned that whatever needs burning might come back, too, so it's basically a "maybe it works, maybe it doesn't" kind of deal.

Just wondering if anyone here has dealt with something similar or if you guys know anything more about how this works.

So, I'm gearing up to get my deviated septum fixed pretty soon. I've got an appointment with the doctor next week, and I was wondering—how long am I actually supposed to stay cooped up inside after the surgery?

I'm trying to do my homework on this so I can plan everything out... you know, minimize the time I'm missing from work/school... though I'm guessing it’s probably smart to just stay home for a week or two, maybe longer? 😁

Also, quick question for those of you who've already been through the whole deviated septum thing: what was breathing like for you before the procedure? For me, it's this annoying cycle where one nostril is totally blocked while the other works fine, then they just swap—so I'm constantly fighting for air through one side or the other. 🤣 I'd love to hear how things felt for you both before and after.

Bottom line is, most people are bummed because we lost that constant back-and-forth vibe we used to have in the daily threads. Honestly? I’m kind of dreading Saturday... we might see maybe 6 or 7 posts at most, if we're lucky.
