Sex myths: What's actually true? in Women's Health ·
If anyone out there still thinks a woman can't get pregnant—or that her chances are somehow lowered—after she pees, I honestly suggest they take a long, hard look at their own anatomy 😁 before they even think about opening their mouths. Actually, just burn their college diplomas and do the rest of us a massive favor. ☕

And btw, these days, any idiot with a pulse can walk across a stage and grab a degree. 😁

I honestly can’t decide if I should be laughing or crying at posts like these. 😢 Good God, I have to wonder if some of you guys slept through biology class back in middle school. This is basic stuff—stuff you’re supposed to learn by the 7th or 8th grade.

I feel for you. 🙂

So, which of the people using that handle are actually women? 😁 Just enough to give me a reason to cry.

Come on, Admin... there are way too many "geniuses" out here coming for me, and I'm just some high school kid. 🙂

It won't work. Honestly, I think this thread actually has some potential here. You aren't the only one flying blind, and we see these kinds of brain farts popping up on forums all the time. I’m just saying—maybe use this as a chance to actually learn something. If you happen to pee a little after sex, it doesn't mean you won't be staring at a positive pregnancy test a month from now. 😁
Our local hospitals in Health ·
Welcome to the American healthcare system. 😢

Lately, I’ve been bouncing around doctors' offices more than I’d like, and honestly, I don’t have much to say about the staff itself. I haven't had any bad run-ins with them. If anything, it's obvious they aren't just busy—they’re completely overwhelmed. I can't even find it in me to blame them.

What actually gets under my skin and drives me up the wall is the sheer organization of the whole thing. Even with centralized scheduling, I still have to physically show up at the hospital just to book a follow-up. The crowds are insane; you end up waiting two or three months just for a routine check-up. Unless things are bad enough to land you in the ER—and god, I could write an entire essay on the horror stories I hear from other people that make my hair stand on end—you’re stuck waiting months for tests, specialists, and basic follow-ups.

Don't even get me started on how nauseating it is to think about heading back to the hospital for blood work, or worse, seeing an immunologist. In our facilities, everything from hematology and immunology to cardiology and the main labs is crammed into these cramped basement clinics. Between the lack of space and the suffocating crowds in those hallways, I feel lightheaded every single time. It’s like there’s zero oxygen. At the very least, they should put some damn windows in the waiting rooms that actually open. Since there are never enough chairs anyway, you’re forced to stand for hours just waiting for your name to be called.

Oh, and here’s another "gem" of our system: if you need to go in for a check-up, you literally have to take sick leave or use a vacation day because you'll be sitting there for hours. You’d think it wouldn't be too hard to give people a rough time slot once they're scheduled, but apparently, that's asking too much.

It’s like we don't have enough to deal with just managing our own illnesses. They could at least make the logistics easier. Instead, everyone shows up to their appointments with a knot in their stomach—not even because they're scared of the results or what the doctor might say, but just from the pure stress of navigating this mess to even get the appointment in the first place.

Can you guys please move this discussion over to a PDF? Recovery.

I'm heading out.
Check out this thread on the forum about low-grade fevers; you’re acting a bit paranoid, so give it a read. Even if all your lab results look fine, it wouldn't hurt to ask for a referral to an immunologist just to be safe and get everything cleared up properly.
stormycyclist9 said:Yeah, but I'm really not feeling like posting a photo here :P since it's all public, haha

Whatever. 😉 Until recently, that feature wasn't even enabled on this site, so I wasn't sure if you guys knew you could actually upload images now (like how everyone with braces lately posts their progress photos constantly). I just figured I'd mention it so you know the option is there. 😉
Did you guys realize you can actually post images here too? They added the img code to the health forum a few months back. 🙂
Malware outbreak on the forum in Forum Help! ·
There’s already a thread about this on Reddit; we’re all feeling the same way. It honestly feels like they're just running another advertisement. 😁
Look, can we please stop the bickering? I really don't feel like splitting any boxes here.
Just a quick heads-up: selling meds is strictly prohibited on Health. Just putting it out there so nobody’s wondering why their posts keep getting nuked. 🙂
Vaginal pain/discomfort in Women's Health ·
What kind of pain are we talking about? Where exactly is it hitting you?
Here’s some quick info that might come in handy. 🙂

From the book benefits and risks of oral hormonal contraception, a quote:

Regarding these warnings, it’s important to understand that for a young, healthy woman we’ve prescribed OHC, there’s no need to run any lab tests before she starts. A thorough medical history to identify cardiovascular risk, a blood pressure check, and a gynecological exam including a Pap smear for sexually active women are enough to get her started on OHC. If a woman continues using OHC long-term, checking glucose levels, liver function, and a lipid panel eventually makes sense. We will, of course, regularly require these tests for older women, those who are overweight, women with risk factors in their personal or family history, or women who already have existing risk factors.
Dealing with hemorrhoids – any advice? in Health ·
Look, if you guys want to have some deep debate about herbs, plants, and all that organic stuff, go ahead and move it over to the Alternative PDF. We’re keeping this space strictly for things doctors actually prescribe and what you can find on pharmacy shelves.

Amy Bailey4 said:Since nobody is answering my thread about nose surgery, I'm starting a new one. I hope you guys answer this time because it's urgent!

So, I have a question regarding nose surgery for medical reasons...
If someone is getting surgery because they've been having breathing issues for a long time, does that procedure also include shaving down the nasal bone (the bump)? Like, does the bone get leveled out if there's a protrusion?

It won't happen.

Your thread was merged with an existing one. First off, it hasn't even been 24 hours since you posted; you can't expect everyone to jump through hoops to reply instantly. There were times I waited days just to get an answer to something I needed to know, and sometimes I didn't get an answer at all.
Where would we end up, and what would this forum even look like if everyone started their own separate threads just because they felt "urgent"? Most people posting in the health section here say it's urgent.

Please move all the talk about food intolerances over there, because this section is strictly off-topic. Thanks! 🙂
How do I request my old medical records? in Health ·
And even if they aren't being kept—though I'm pretty sure they are—everything should be logged in the medical record anyway.
Maybe the SSN. 🤷
fadedtrucker5 said:This isn't some heavy, tragic topic for me. I haven't shed a single tear, and at no point did I think my story wouldn't have a happy ending. One after another, my doctors told me that my optimism and my zest for life accounted for about 90% of my recovery. Honestly, I couldn't have done it without the overwhelming love I felt through the literal thousands of messages sent by everyone who knows me. I could just feel that positive energy and love.
I’m writing this all to give you a glimpse into what it’s actually like for people who are sick. We hide the hair we lose from chemotherapy just so we don't depress the people we love. It’s not because we’re embarrassed or trying to deny anything; it’s because it’s exhausting to see pity and fear in other people's eyes. So, if you know someone who is struggling, support them with positivity and love instead of pity. When you're sick, the last thing you want is to feel like you're causing others pain.

Love you all 😘

Jesus, this is so beautifully written I actually teared up. 🙂

I am so sorry you had to go through all of this. I really hope you can put it all behind you as soon as possible. Your optimism is truly incredible—everyone should strive to be like that, because that's exactly what pulls a person out of the depths. 😘
I was actually just thinking about you the other day, wondering how you were holding up. I see you're staying positive as always. 😍 🙂

I’ve always had a soft spot for people like this—when things are at their absolute worst, instead of letting it drag them down, they end up lifting everyone else up with sheer courage and optimism. Hang in there. 😘
