Thanks for the reply, though. 🙏

EDIT: Oh, one more thing—when they say at Nike that orders over $133 get free shipping... is there usually some catch? Like, some hidden fee they slap on you for no reason?

No clue. Honestly, I don't really like ordering stuff online anyway. I'd rather just head down to the store and buy it in person. That's why I never touch web shops....

Christian Harris2 said:What exactly is Gold's Gym premium whey? $47$10 per 500g. Is that supposed to be a joke? 😁 Honestly, when I’m buying whey, I don't really care about how well it dissolves—I have a blender for that—and flavor isn't a huge deal for me either. Does better flavor actually mean they just pumped it full of more aspartame, sucralose, and acesulfame potassium? Probably. Personally, I'd much rather grab a neutral-flavored whey, provided it isn't priced way higher than the sweetened stuff. But hey, what can you do?

So, you're actually asking me how to score that protein discount on this forum? How does one even work that magic? 🙂

So, when you're picking up some NBA protein at Nike, if you grab more than... $833 You get a 20% discount, then once a month the whole squad meets up on the forum to grab whatever they need. Everyone piles their orders onto one single account and just calls it a day. Simple, right? $833 Everyone gets a discount on their own terms, I guess. It was my first time ordering from them, so I just grabbed a bag of Optimum Nutrition whey and a bag of casein to get started. $120 It would set me back about $460. I haven't bothered checking what other brands are sitting on the shelves at different stores, though.

You only show up when it suits you to grab the goods. I swung by this morning, mentioned I was from the forum, and the guy just handed me a discount without any hassle. Honestly, it felt a little sketchy—like anyone could just walk in and score whenever they want. If you guys are part of that regular crew constantly placing orders, maybe give them a heads-up so they know when to expect us.

There isn't much point overthinking it; whey is whey, and isolate is isolate. You aren't going to make a life-altering mistake just by picking any random brand.

Just focus on what actually matters to you. For me, when I'm buying whey, the first thing I check is whether it contains soy. That’s my main rule. Most brands don't use soy proteins anyway—maybe American Muscle does, which might be crap—but I never even bother looking at those two brands.

So, practically speaking, the main thing I look at is the price. Why would I pay $67 for 500g of Gold's Gym whey if I could get 1kg of an NBA brand like Dymatize for the same amount?
Second, I look at how well it dissolves. If I accidentally buy a whey that foams up too much or leaves clumps, I'll still drink it, but I'm never buying it again.
Third is the flavor, though honestly, most brands have decent flavors these days.

I've been sticking with NBA Pro Whey for a while now because it checks all my boxes.$68 It's affordable—especially when I'm hunting for discounts on fitness forums, I can snag a kilo for $53. The solubility is great, it doesn't foam, and the flavors are solid. It's also worth noting there's 23g of protein per scoop.

Henry Evans3 said:Is this an Apple thing now, or what?🤷

I asked on another forum, and honestly, it has nothing to do with this company, Apple. This one is Canadian, while that other one is Canadian. The only thing they share is the "NBA" sub-brand.

nimbleskipper89 said:The NBA sure knows how to market themselves, don't they? They’ve mastered the art of making it seem like nothing else even exists. They play dirty, too, but apparently, that works just fine here because people still aren't informed enough to notice.

I have no idea where you're getting that from—this idea that they claim to be the absolute best while everything else is garbage. I’ve actually got their brochures sitting right here at home, and I’ve spent time scrolling through their website too. Not once did I see anything like that. Where is this coming from?
Every company has its own little hype squad to push their brand. Honestly, all I’ve seen them do is claim they're the only ones actually being transparent by releasing their product testing results to the public. It isn't even a direct shot at anyone else, really. Besides, they don't exactly go overboard with the flashy ads.

Henry Evans3 said:I've got the Choco peanut butter, and yeah... it's actually decent. I just mix it with water and it doesn't taste half bad.😉

But I have a question... everyone keeps saying Apple isn't anything special... yet this box right under the NBA logo looks like it's from them.

Is it actually from Apple or what?🤷

Oh yeah, I noticed that too a while back and meant to ask, but it totally slipped my mind.

From what I've read, it's not from Apple. In my opinion, they're just a distributor. Their first page basically claims they have their own labs in Canada, their own farms... whatever. Basically, they claim everything is theirs.

NBA is solid. The price isn't crazy, and the quality? Unquestionable. I remember reading online way back around 2007 that they actually released their product testing results to the public. They were spot on—no deviations from what’s listed on the label. Most other brands won't show you a damn thing, and if I recall correctly, people were saying the same about Dymatize... yeah, let's just say they actually deliver.

Anyway, NBA Pro Whey is great. So far, I've tried banana and it's good. Tried cookies too; wasn't my favorite at first, but I got used to it. I'm actually heading out tomorrow to grab a kilo of the chocolate peanut butter flavor. I heard it tastes amazing.

redranger82 said:How many scoops are you guys taking?

Sometimes I go with 1.5, but lately I’ve been hitting two more often.

I don't know. Maybe do some digging online? There are all these theories about how much protein your body can actually process, all that nonsense... honestly, I just figure one scoop of whey is plenty.

I once had some guy corner me just because he saw me drinking a shake. He started lecturing me about how I was basically on steroids and was going to drop dead from it. Hilarious. I sent him straight back to his hometown 😁

🤣🤣🤣

So some guy hits me up the other day asking... he wants to buy some whey and wants to know how long it takes to actually see results once he starts drinking it.☕🤦

Exactly. People are saying they aren't even all that great. I wouldn't be surprised if they're packed with soy, honestly.

darkfox85 said:The only gear I have is some dumbbells, but I’ll definitely try to get more eventually. Also, what’s this "dextrose/glucose measurement" thing about? People keep telling me to take whey plus an apple after training... is that what you mean?

Look, if you're using whey, you could toss in some raisins or maybe some white bread. As for apples, I don't know. Some people claim bananas are bad, but my buddy who trains seriously says pros skip them while casual lifters can eat them just fine. It's basically the same debate as the glucose stuff—there's all this math about how many grams of glucose per kilo of whey you need, but honestly, that's just overthinking it for most people. If you're just hitting the gym for fun, just stick to your whey and some glucose. I haven't really looked into the science on apples, to be honest.

What actually works is what I just listed: raisins, white bread, or dextrose/glucose. You can buy glucose powder pretty cheap online; you can grab a couple of pounds for like $5.00 bucks... and as for bananas, well, it depends on who you ask.

darkfox85 said:Man, if anyone sees this, please help. I'm 17 and my goal is to pack on muscle. I'm 183 cm and weigh 74 kg. Since there isn't a gym near me, I'm stuck working out at home—push-ups, sit-ups, dumbbells, shoulder exercises, stuff like that. Can I actually build muscle this way if I eat five meals a day and take whey protein after training? Also, is whey okay for someone my age and with this kind of routine? I'm using Bio Essentiall whey; any advice on that would be great. Thanks!

Look, you can't do much with just push-ups and sit-ups. Use whatever equipment you have at home...

...if you don't have anything, install a pull-up bar somewhere, grab some dumbbells, and honestly, it would be ideal if you could get a barbell. If you can do squats and deadlifts, you'll have a decent workout...

...as for the whey, go ahead and use it. No reason not to. Just take a scoop of whey and maybe a scoop of dextrose/glucose after your workout...

The main thing is putting together a solid program with quality movements. Deadlifts, squats, and pull-ups should be your bread and butter for growth. You might want to set up a bench too, unless you plan on doing everything on the floor.

Walmart has that DasGesunde Elweiss 90. It’s 90% whey, a bit of soy, and—get this—vanilla is the only flavor option. It comes in a 300g tub$18 (which is basically nothing, $62)

You really have to watch the label, though. They usually stack it right next to some garbage gainers from the same brand, or a "neutral" whey that tastes like nothing and mixes like chalk.
Plus, the packaging is tiny. So, if you actually like vanilla...

Fair enough, but it's Walmart. I don't obsess over brands—protein is protein—but buying supplements at a big-box retailer? Not my thing. If the price is the same, I'm definitely going with Optimum Nutrition instead.

Optimum Nutrition has 1kg of casein for $62 which is insanely cheap...
....I’m not going to waste my breath on all those girls' stories claiming Optimum Nutrition is garbage, because I have a few buddies who have been using their whey since day one and they’ve seen killer results....

Just order them from the site where you found them. Plenty of people around here do it, and there’s even a guide at the top explaining how to handle shipping to the US

Honestly, I think hitting it six times a day is overkill. Especially now with the summer heat kicking in and my appetite tanking... I’ve just been sticking to four meals a day plus some protein powder, and I’ve put on about 11 pounds since New Year's. You can really tell by my shirts; they used to be baggy on me six months ago, and now they’re either a perfect fit or getting way too tight. Mind you, my diet hasn't exactly been textbook. I was basically shoveling everything in sight—anything that wasn't soda or sugary junk. I definitely overdid it on the carbs, and I've probably reached my limit there. Oh well, what's done is done.

I had this whole plan to hit 185 lbs before starting my cut, and I was getting pretty close... but honestly, forget it. I’m just going to focus on bulking until the end of the year. Then, once New Year hits, I'll start the cut—only this time, I'll actually be doing it a bit smarter.

Jonathan Miller7 said:If you put on five pounds but all you really gained was a bunch of jokes at your expense, did you actually gain anything at all? 🙂

Look, I didn't just "gain fat." It's not even a joke. It’s just more mass than I had before... and I'm nowhere near being pure fat.

Jonathan Miller7 said:People adapt to all this stuff over generations. Maybe it’s harmful to us to some extent, but for the people coming after us, it won't be as bad—that's just evolution. The real question is how much damage it actually does to us versus how much we've already adjusted. It's probably not as bad as what coppersailor57 made it out to be. Besides, everyone reacts differently, right? 🙂

For example, Whey and other protein supplements always wreck my digestion. I get constipated and end up not hitting the bathroom for two days.

I have the exact opposite problem. Whey sends me straight to the restroom; sometimes it's basically an emergency situation...

Anyway, about a quick ad...

Basically, MVP just released a massive 10lb tub of Whey.

The price is $252, but if we can work out a group deal to bring it under $667, we could grab a 20% discount. That brings it down to roughly $202 for the whole thing. That's a steal. Their Whey is solid too—good price, great taste, dissolves easily, and has Glutamine and BCAAs added...
