If I can hit about 40-50g of protein per meal, I'm happy...

One 30g scoop usually packs around 20-24g of protein, so two scoops puts me right in that 40-50g sweet spot. Is that the magic formula for success? Probably not. But it helps me bump up my total intake, and since I can actually afford it right now, why not? I've also started doing 150g of oats with some low-fat milk in the morning, adding either 2-3 eggs or a scoop of Whey. It depends on how much time I have, though I usually lean toward the eggs.

My goal is to reach 85kg and hold steady there. I know hitting 90kg before summer is going to be a struggle—maybe impossible—so the plan is to sit at 85kg through the summer and then push for 90kg by the end of the year.
Right now, the scale is bouncing between 82-83kg. After New Year's, I was sitting at 77-78kg. Could it be better? Sure. But whatever, as long as the weight is moving up. My strength is definitely climbing, which I can really see on my bench, deadlift, and squat.

Starting today, I’m doing two scoops of Whey post-workout... Not really sure why I felt the sudden urge to post about it, but here we are.

And what’s the point if he just grabs it now? It’s obvious he has no clue. He’d be better off actually learning how this stuff works first, rather than just picking it up and hoping for some miracle.

Go do a little digging online about the differences between Whey, casein, Mass Gainer, and all those other supplements. These two things aren't even in the same league, so you should probably figure that out first.

So, I spend my time training in combat sports and working with the Kettlebell.

I just stick to the classics at home. Push-ups, squats, sit-ups, that kind of thing. Why overcomplicate it?

As for my diet: I eat plenty of yogurt for the probiotics, some low-fat cottage cheese, and mozzarella. Since mozzarella is high in protein but also packed with fat, I usually just have that with eggs in the morning. For lunch, it’s the classic approach—mostly chicken breast. Dinner is typically just more cottage cheese or maybe some fruit.

So, I’m finally running low on my Scitech Nutritional Whey protein. Time to pick up some new tubs.

A friend told me some Herbalife products are better because they supposedly have fewer chemicals. Is that really how this works?

So, what’s everyone’s go-to when it comes to protein powders? Or is there even a "best" one out there? It’s all the same.Mine have 22mg per serving, which is about 44% of my RDA. Should I be looking for something with a higher dose?

Less is more...

MVP Pro Whey is actually top-tier.😁Added 5.5g of BCAA and glutamine to the meal. Price is solid. $68 Weight is up, taste is solid, and I’m not dealing with any bloating. Not bad.

They’re working on another one of those "historical" dramas based on a fairy tale or legend again.
Robin Hood is supposed to be a cheerful guy, so the movie really needs to have that kind of vibe.
Robin Hood has a mustache.
Robin Hood has a little mustache!
And Robin Hood wears a hood (that's why he's called Robin Hood) with a feather in it.
I should mention, it really shouldn't be a brutal movie, because if it is, then it isn't actually Robin Hood. It would just be using the name to grab attention, which feels a bit cheap since they're basically just making things up as they go.
I think I've mentioned "Robin Hood" in this post more than ten times already, but I don't really feel like counting.
Maybe they'll make a sequel called Robin Hood vs. Dork Knight set in the 22nd century where they fight a Superman who can't fly, just because that's more "realistic."
Or maybe tomorrow we'll see a headline with a picture of Superman saying "Passed away at age 76."
Russell Crowe looks pretty depressed, so I guess he doesn't really have a chance at being a good Robin Hood.
I bet Robin Hood will end up dying at the end of the movie, just to keep things realistic.
I'd bet money that Robin Hood won't be splitting arrows in half in this version.

I guess I'm just not normal.

Well, you aren't either😁

If this movie actually had an ending like that 2006 Robin Hood series, I'd be thrilled. I live for sad endings... seriously, look at this... one of my favorite series finales ever...

William Ramirez6 said:Hey everyone..

I’ve been browsing this forum for a bit, but honestly, I'm more confused now than when I started. 😁
Basically, I'm 5'9" and 147 lbs. I can't gain weight to save my life eating normally. I'm about to start hitting the gym—I've mostly just played soccer a few times a week until now.
I want to put on some mass, so I was thinking about getting some protein or whatever, but I have no clue what's actually smart to buy. I read about whey, but then I see some stuff meant for weight loss...
Is there anyone kind enough to just tell me "this one" or "that one"? Drop a link and I'll be grateful.🙂

Look, I'll just stick to what works for me. I'm 6'1", weighed myself the other day, and I'm about 176 lbs. I'm pretty skinny, so I went for a mass gainer. Everyone trashes them because they have too much sugar and you'll end up with a little extra fat, but I'm planning to fix that later. Right now, size matters more than being ripped. If you want the fast way to bulk up, grab a gainer. If you want the quality way, get some whey. Honestly, whey is whey. Just make sure the price is decent, it doesn't have soy, and if you can find a review saying it mixes well and tastes okay, you're set.
...my suggestion for whey is...

I've used it before. Taste is solid—I had the banana. I heard the cookies flavor is better. It mixes well and even has BCAA and glutamine added. Plus, the price is good. I'll probably grab it again down the road.

Edward Booth9 said:I have a question about amino acids. I bought some Biotechov Amino st5300. Now I'm reading American forums where people swear by it and say you should take way more than the label suggests. Then I stumble onto some other forums where people say you might as well flush those pills down the toilet just to keep your heart racing "too much."

I'm inclined to believe the folks back home, but still... you can never have too much advice. Are these tablets actually any good?

You probably saw that on some fitness blog. The thing is, those sites are often run by companies like Nutrabolics who trash every competitor just to hype their own stuff. For instance, they claim Dymatize is one of the worst products out there, which is total nonsense. As for Biotech, from what I hear, they aren't the best either. But hey, if you already bought them, don't sweat it. An amino is an amino. If the formula is the same as other brands, just take them and move on.

Joshua Parker3 Kazes:
That’s what I thought. 😕

So, what would you actually recommend then? Where can I pick up that whey, and what's the damage going to be? I know Importanne has some kind of shop online. 😁

Like I mentioned above, here’s the link again.
Check out this link to some whey protein on a fitness site:
So, we're looking at the flavor, how easy it is on the stomach, and the fact that they tossed in some BCAA and glutamine... plus, it isn't exactly breaking the bank compared to everything else out there.

crimsonpuma92 said:Can someone actually explain how creatine works? Like, what’s the deal with timing, what should I mix it with, and what's the actual dosage?
So, how exactly am I supposed to train? And more importantly, what should I actually be doing?
And if anyone actually has experience with this, what kind of results are we looking at?

Maybe do a little more homework on creatine before you start treating it like protein and slamming it down whenever you feel like it. Do a quick search on how it actually works—loading phases, maintenance, cycling... you know, the basics. If you mess up your creatine protocol and overdo it for too long, you might actually end up tanking your body's own production. Plus, it doesn't even work for about 20% of people. I'm part of that 20%.😁
So, why the "just Google it" attitude?

Raymond Hughes said:So, I picked up some Dymatize ISO100. How much should I be taking after a workout? The guys at my gym are claiming two scoops is the way to go. Also, how much water am I supposed to mix this with?

I also heard that mixing it with dextrose is the way to go. I stopped by DM earlier, but the clerk told me they haven’t had any in stock for a while. Does anyone know where I can pick some up, or is there a decent alternative out there?

Look, whether you use one scoop or two is entirely up to you. If you’re watching your budget, stick to one; if you’ve got the cash to burn, go ahead and splurge. Just mix them in with some oatmeal in the morning and maybe something lighter in the evening. Throw some extra protein in there too—it'll give you enough energy to basically tear the house apart. And are you really taking those with grape sugar? I’ve been hearing lately that they can’t even keep it in stock at DM anymore. 🤷Look, if you don't have that, just do what I said earlier: grab two handfuls of raisins or some white bread. Though, honestly, stick to the bread only for your pre-workout—otherwise, it’s pretty useless.

Joshua Parker3 Kazes:
So, I think I'm finally ready to start using some whey after my workouts, so I figured I’d come here and ask for recommendations. From what I can gather, is Twinlab the gold standard?

I need something budget-friendly that actually works. I'm a little strapped for cash right now, so quality can't be sacrificed just because the price is lower. Any suggestions? 😁

Product Name:
Price?
Where can I pick this up?

My bad. I clearly don't know what I'm talking about here. 🤣

What makes you think Twinlab is the best?
Personally, I'd stick with brands like Optimum Nutrition or Dymatize over the alternatives. Besides, I’ve noticed some Twinlab whey contains soy ingredients, so... you decide.
James Harris34 said:To me, this new movie feels way too much like Gladiator. I really don't think Robin Hood should be portrayed this way.

Man, those two movies are basically twins...
...think about it. You've got Gladiator... Maximus is an honorable general who serves his country, then his family is taken from him and he's forced into slavery to seek revenge. Then look at Robin Hood... he serves the crown in the Crusades, comes home to find his father dead, his title stripped, and his village looted by the Sheriff. All he has left is to become an outlaw and get even. Don't you see any similarities there?

As for the casting, I think Russell Crowe is a perfect choice. He’s exactly what the role needs, and I have a feeling this is going to be a great film.

I'd much rather see Russell or some middle-aged actor who actually looks like a hero than some teenage kid playing a legend when he still looks like he hasn't even moved out of his parents' basement.

darkjackal70 said:How much for $33?? 🤷 Unless you haven't ordered from them in a while??

I don't get why he mentioned a 20% sales tax (like in some states) when food is usually taxed at a much lower rate here in the US.

Whatever. You really should do a bit more digging and ask around before relying on someone else to grab stuff for you. Everyone’s playing games these days. 👎
Check out those fitness forums; people order from everywhere, including Prosport....

Look, I ordered through him once. He told me to add the sales tax, which he said wasn't lower than ours. I looked it up online, saw 20%, added 20%, and then factored in customs too... basically, my total came to $100 even though Prosport lists it at 29 euros. The guy said his total order was over 700 euros....
I know those fitness forums pretty well, along with Bodybuilding.com. I follow a crew that buys MVP proteins there. They snag 20% discounts because their whey is solid without being overpriced.

darkjackal70 said:Look, if you want my honest opinion, thanks for trying to help out with the Twinlab info, but you're talking nonsense here.🙂

Regarding what I quoted... What "customs nightmare" are you talking about? Are you aware you can bring a decent amount of stuff across the border into the States without getting hit by customs under the current rules? Back before they changed things, I used to just drive over to the nearest post office in a town near the border when the limit was $100. You could easily play the system—tell the guys at the shop to split your invoice into three parts, grab two buddies, and pay what's owed. Nobody at the border even blinks.

It's not like I haven't dealt with major retailers before. Shipping to a local post office costs maybe 4 bucks. Tax is usually baked into the price—at least it was, and even now when I go through the checkout, there's no mention of extra fees. I’ve gone all the way to the final payment screen, and everything is laid out clearly. And honestly? Driving from my neighborhood to the border and back doesn't even cost $20 in gas. I can stop at an Adidas store on the way, grab a beer at a local pub, or pick up some groceries, and still come in under budget. So, yeah, your theory doesn't hold water.

I don't buy anything in this middle-of-nowhere town anymore. I looked up the price for Twinlab Dual Tabs vitamins, and the price at the local shop is $50 right here $147 for 200 tablets...

Thanks for the Twinlab info, but maybe do a little more Googling or ask around before you start posting stuff like this.

😁

Ps. Just so I can show you that you're totally off base and just rambling about certain things (like NHF)...🙂

http://www.prosport.net/articles.php?id=89

Everything is listed right there: how much tax you pay and the shipping cost for pickup at the local post office.😉

I actually tried ordering from overseas through a guy once, and it looks like he ripped me off.😁 He told me the price included tax and customs. If he played me, I'm going to be pissed.

Charles Hill35 said:Is it worth mixing whey protein with milk just to slow down digestion?🤷 😕

From what I gather, milk slows down protein absorption, which is why people usually skip it when mixing shakes post-workout. That said, it’s probably not going to be as effective at slowing things down as something like low-fat cottage cheese or Casein powder.

...they used to be pretty cheap, though I heard some items supposedly went up in price recently.🤷

Twinlab 100% Whey Fuel 2.27 kg

http://www.prosport.net/katalog/prod..._id=1030058724

$77on Prosport....

Hmm....look, here's the deal. That price doesn't include sales tax or customs. You have to add their local tax—which I think is about 20%—plus customs, which looks to be around 30%. I know because I was ordering an Isogainer from Nutrabolics the other day; it said $29 but I ended up paying $100 in total. So, this would probably set you back around $117... and if you need to pick it up, shipping isn't cheap either. Maybe $9? I'm not sure on the exact math, but it adds up. Don't forget to factor in gas money too. Basically, everything ends up being expensive.

As for the brand, who knows? A brand is a brand. Twinlab is a well-known name, though personally, I don't think supplements are their main thing. I don't know how to put it, but whatever. Still, they’re definitely better than Biotech or American Muscle and those other brands that pack their stuff with soy protein...

Whoops, just read that again. It mentions soy in there too. Some kind of soy oil or something... I avoid any supplement containing soy. Not the best reputation out there.

Anyway, my advice is this:

Once I bulk up and finish this tub, I'm switching back to this.
It's solid. The price isn't outrageous compared to others, and the quality is there.
-tastes good
-mixes well
-includes glutamine and BCAAs
-no aspartame—though you could argue about that. Everyone claiming "no aspartame" is usually just using something else. It might be a lesser evil, but it's still an evil. Still, this one avoids it.
Best protein powders for muscle gain? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
I’m not exactly a big spender... but BCAA doesn't seem cheap either. If you get a bottle with $53 120 tablets and take two before and two after your workout, that covers about 30 sessions. I don't feel like doing the math right now, but that's roughly two months, which doesn't exactly seem cheap to me...
Best protein powders for muscle gain? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
Just picked up a 5lb tub of Isogainer from MuscleTech.
The label says three scoops per serving, which totals 179g. That’s ridiculous. At that rate, I'll burn through the whole thing in less than three weeks.
Is it a bad idea to just take two scoops as a post-workout shake? I'm calculating that two scoops would give me about 40g of protein and roughly 60g of carbs, which seems solid enough.
And what if I accidentally miss a meal before training? I usually make sure to eat 200g of oats about an hour or two before hitting the gym since that's my breakfast, but if life happens and I haven't eaten in ages, would it work to have one scoop pre-workout and then another scoop as a post-workout shake?

I'm already planning my next move once this runs out. If I could actually bump up from my current 175-180 lbs to around 185 lbs within a month or two, I'd be thrilled. Then I'd probably hit 185-190 lbs by adding some whey protein—likely that Weider 80+ stuff, which is expensive as hell. But honestly, I can't justify dropping that kind of cash right now when I need to save for a couple bags of this gainer to last me a month. It would be great to have a fast-acting protein for post-workout and maybe some Casein for later... assuming my diet stays on point, of course.

Oh, and I was thinking about grabbing some BCAAs. Which ones are the best value for the money? I think I have a 20% discount at GNC.
Best protein powders for muscle gain? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
Jonathan Miller7, honestly, you probably would've been better off grabbing that Weider stuff with the 80%+ protein content. It’s a blend of four different whey proteins and Casein... which makes it decent for both a meal replacement or post-workout. You went with the Casein Elite, right? I don't really see the point of using that right after training. Why wait seven hours for absorption when you actually need fast-acting protein post-gym? I guess maybe it's better than nothing, though.

Was it that Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Protein Gold Standard brand you picked up?
