Sorry for the delay in getting back to you; we don't all moderate the forum at the same time, so our internal discussions took a bit longer than expected.
Regarding
Melissa Benoist, we’ve decided that there isn't any need to open a new thread right now.
She only held a lead role in one single series ever aired here in the US (Cloudy Skies), and back when that was on, nobody felt the need to start her own dedicated thread. Honestly, it doesn't make much sense to do it now—the girl got married this summer, so she’ll likely be busy with a baby rather than starting some new series that might air in the US 😉.
Until one of her lead roles actually airs in the US, you can talk about Melissa in these existing threads:
- American TV Industry - American series,
- American movies, specifically regarding the films she's been in, which are located in the Off subforum where there are plenty of active, high-traffic threads, plus
- On the Edge if you're referring to that specific series,
- Şubat.
As for the separate thread for actress
Ay Bingöl, we decided to close it—or rather, merge it into the thread where people are already discussing her, which is Actors from the series "How Time Passes" - joint thread. Once merged, we deleted the duplicate posts and kept only the ones containing fresh information (specifically related to the last film where she had a supporting role).
Why did we go this route? The discussion about Ay is already well underway in another thread, and there's no reason to move it. No matter how talented an actress is, the odds of her landing another lead role in a series airing in the US anytime soon are slim, and the existing topic is perfectly fine for discussing her movies and stage work.
You asked:
There's one thing I don't quite get. New American series, like Gossip Girl or Fatih, that haven't started airing yet, get their own threads in the Unseen subforum, but new Latin shows like Lies Perfectas go straight into the Soap Opera subforum. Shouldn't both types of series be in Unseen?
Yeah, it's a little confusing at first until you figure out the logic behind what goes where.
The subforums have functioned this way for ages. The long-time users are used to the system, so it's really up to the newcomers to adapt to it. Or, as a colleague of mine put it (😁):
If it ain't broken, don't fix it.
Finally, please take a look at how the opening posts for threads in Soap Opera and Unseen - other series - look (for example 1., 2., 3., 4., 5., etc.). They need to be neat, easy to read, properly formatted, and they shouldn't be used to chat with moderators—that's what private messages or PMs are for.
