Honestly, I’m not even sure how much of the physics in this flick actually holds up. People claim it's pretty spot on, but I don't know... That whole time dilation thing on the planet makes zero sense if you're looking at a non-rotating black hole—the planet would have to be sitting right on the edge, and the tidal forces would be ripping both sides of the planet apart differently. But since the movie uses a rapidly rotating black hole, that changes the spacetime math entirely, so maybe the planet wouldn't need to be so close to cause such massive time differences between its sides. Plus, then tidal forces aren't even an issue. Look, I can't run the actual numbers myself right now—doing it for a non-rotating one is easy enough, but this? Who knows.

There's some stuff online explaining why the accretion disk doesn't just incinerate the planet instantly. They try to explain the waves using intense tidal forces—basically comparing them to how a tsunami looks out in the deep ocean versus when it hits shallow water back home on Earth. So, the idea is they landed in a shallow area, and those waves are coming from the deeper parts of the ocean and just ballooning up once they hit the shallows. Still, the wave physics feels totally fake to me—everything from the way they look to the weird timing between them. A massive wave hits, then suddenly there's this beautiful, calm shoreline where kids could go swimming, and then *boom*—another monster wave shows up out of nowhere. I'm sure someone somewhere has "explained" that too. Oh, and that part where he enters the black hole and somehow transmits data back out? Yeah, no way. Not happening. But hey, that's where the imagination kicks in, and it's basically how they wanted the ending to work anyway.

Still, I gotta give credit to Interstellar for making me actually dig into some science. Hey, if a movie actually makes you learn something, that's a win, right? Also, the core conflict in Interstellar—you know, the whole individual survival vs. the survival of the species thing—is super interesting. It didn't really hit me that hard personally because I've spent plenty of time chewing on those kinds of thoughts before, thanks to other things in my life. But it's definitely one of the bright spots of the film.

To be honest, the movie did leave me wondering about one thing. In a crisis that massive, would world governments really keep everything under wraps just to prevent a panic? Or would they eventually have to let people in on the truth? I'm thinking about cover-ups similar to that whole mess back in 2012, and how it plays out in Interstellar.

Watching Interstellar actually pushed me to dig into some actual space physics. There’s so much stuff packed into that movie—at first, I was sitting in the theater thinking they were totally overdoing it. Like, how on earth can a planet have that kind of time dilation without getting ripped apart by tidal forces? And those waves on the surface? Or how the hell does a black hole's accretion disk not just incinerate the entire atmosphere and the whole damn planet? At first, all that crap just pissed me off... then when he jumped into the black hole, man, I hit a total mental black hole myself. Literally facepalmed right there in the theater at how they handled the ending. But hey, whatever, tastes differ and all that. Take The Mist, for example—which is an all-around great flick—but that ending? Total brain rot. Completely nonsensical and stupid. Yet, I had people telling me that same ending was brilliant and "realistic," and I’ve seen posts on forums saying the ending is actually amazing. Look, I still can't stomach it. End of story.

By the way, Inception is easily in my top 10 greatest movies of all time.

Honestly, most of them were pretty decent over the last few years. Like, from 2013 onwards...
Looking back at 2013, the only ones that stick in my head are Pacific Rim and Star Trek—though neither was exactly a masterpiece. Still, I'd watch both again.

I saw Gravity, and honestly? It feels like one of those movies you *have* to see on a big screen just for the effects. Beyond that, though? For me, it’s more of a "god forbid I watch this again" movie than anything good.

As for 2014, Edge of Tomorrow is actually a solid film overall. 👍
Guardians of the Galaxy was great too, even if it wasn't quite AS incredible as all the hype made it out to be.
X-Men was awesome—definitely the best of the X-Men flicks for me.

I gotta mention Interstellar, too. It was amazing for a long time, right up until they hit that first planet... after that, everything just fell apart for me. And that ending? Total bullshit fantasy. But hey, whatever, not everyone's gonna like the same stuff. Overall it's an okay movie, but in my opinion, it's way overrated considering what it actually delivers.

Those new Transformers... man, I tried watching that thing three different times and couldn't even finish it. I skipped the last 15 minutes entirely. That movie is such unwatchable garbage, it's actually scary. I wanted to see it through since I've seen all the others, but I just couldn't. Watching that was pure torture. What a load of trash, seriously. That's how I'll remember it—not for the plot, because I already forgot what happened, but for how much it sucked.

2015... heh, guess I'll have to check out the new Avengers. My crew talked me out of going to the theater since the movie supposedly flopped, but we'll see.

I started Jupiter Ascending and within 20 minutes, I already knew it was garbage. Might finish it eventually, though. Fingers crossed.

I'm definitely planning to watch Mad Max just to see what the deal is—why some people worship it and others absolutely hate it.

And obviously, the new Star Wars is easily the most anticipated movie since last year. If I survived the new trilogy with that incredibly annoying Anakin Skywalker, can they actually make something worse? I really hope not, and I hope the movie is alright regardless of whatever mess they make of it.

Jurassic World—seriously, what kind of people made those dinosaurs? They looked like trained puppies. I don't have a problem with the concept, but they totally trashed the whole idea of what a dinosaur should be, and I'm holding a huge grudge for that. Look, I get it, you shouldn't spit on those god-awful, annoying love stories that show up in every single movie, but unfortunately, they're still gonna be there.

I'm planning to watch Terminator, but I'm not exactly hyped after seeing it looks way too similar to the old Terminators. I really hope I'm not just watching some cheap remake.

That movie PDF is solid. Man, you can see people tearing each other apart just because of different tastes... 😁
It’s not just about movies, obviously. I know it’s tough to swallow when you think something is a masterpiece and someone else calls it absolute trash—or vice versa, where you hate something and they’re obsessed. Then the whole "who’s actually right" debate starts heating up 🙏

But let's be real—lately, most movies are just loaded with special effects and action, paired with garbage stories and characters. Honestly? I don't have a problem with that. At the end of the day, I go to the theater primarily for the visuals and the action, not necessarily for some deep plot. I can watch those story-driven movies on my laptop just fine—it feels just as big to me—I'm just not dropping cash on a ticket for it. Of course, that doesn't give studios a free pass to make movies that are nothing but eye candy (though it does give them an excuse since they're making bank off idiots like me). Obviously, the story always matters, though. Like, the latest Godzilla really let me down, even though I'm a huge fan of those monster flicks. The plot was just bad—totally missed the mark on what the title even promised. On the flip side, Pacific Rim was a blast to watch and actually kept me hooked. It had holes in it like Swiss cheese, but who cares? Same goes for Avatar—that blew me away in the theater because of the insane visuals. But would I watch that again on my TV or computer? Hard pass. Some movies are just built for the big screen where they look 10x better—that's just how it is. I tried watching horror movies in the theater once, but it's a disaster. Nothing beats being alone in your room in the middle of the night if you want the full experience.

Omeyer is freaking immortal.

The Spaniards had their chance to tie things up, but they just choked too hard. You can't play like that against the French. Plus, you've got Omeyer... But hey, solid fight all things considered.
