Who is the best British band? in Music ·
Kevin Chavez3 said:I used to have an XTC record—honestly, it was garbage. Traded it in for Saxon.

Hahaha, you’re a complete lunatic... you manage to make me laugh every single time.😁

By the way, I never really dug XTC either—or maybe I just never gave them a fair shake. There's always time to revisit things.

Look, my point was that I wasn't expecting anything from modern-day Buzzcocks—nothing at all—yet I ended up with a perfectly "okay" album...
To be blunt, they’ve always been a genius singles band to me; their actual full-length albums never really blew me away. I even traded in my first two records just to get *Birthday Party*...

Right, I forgot the Buzzcocks were still at it... I’m actually digging their latest record, but honestly, the last Fall album and Wire were just phenomenal... It blows my mind how they still manage to churn out such top-tier music.😎

Never heard of Urinalse...

The best British bands are dead—well, mostly dead... except for maybe Fall Out Boy and Wire.🙏
Which HI-Fis are worth getting? in Music ·
There are plenty of other bookshelf monitors out there that I respect—Dynaudio, Sonus Faber, you name it—all sitting in that reasonable $7,000-$10,000 range. $2667But when I first heard these, it was like hearing Fugazi for the very first time. It wasn't just listening; it was instant, lifelong devotion. 🙄 😁

I’ve finally made up my mind—it’s time to get my hands on my favorite speakers...
After four years of waiting for the right opening, I’m going to pitch them as a sponsorship for some upcoming festivals. Once that's set, we'll be using them as monitors for mixing concert recordings from the set...
We’re talking about the Diapason Adamantes—hands down the finest small speakers I’ve ever heard or seen...
They run a bit north of $6667. If this sponsorship deal falls through, I might have to arrange a more profitable gig just to afford them—I’m reaching my breaking point listening to music solely through headphones...

Look, this festival is about showcasing interesting music. Just because a few of these artists managed to find a bit of success doesn't mean their sound has lost its edge or interest.
Radiohead ultimately couldn't make the reunion work—one member is booked for a tour with Chronomad (March 6th in Chicago) while the other is touring with Lali Puna (May 1st in New York). That single free weekend they had between those tours—the window they actually planned to visit us—was apparently decided upon for some much-needed downtime instead. Don't worry though, they'll be arriving in September...
Looks like we’re getting a little club festival about three months ahead of ZOA...

Simple Life said:So you’re claiming you listen to maybe 100 to 200 albums a year? If that’s the case, there is absolutely no way you could put together a "best of" list that massive—it’s total nonsense.

Do me a favor—go to http://www.almostcool.org/ and actually look at some music reviews. There is one guy there—just one single person—who reviews five or six albums every week. Sure, he takes a break here and there, but overall, he’s reviewing over 200 albums a year, and he isn't even reviewing everything he listens to...
Well, you'll find plenty of those kinds of fanatics on this forum...😉

Here is a list of people who, almost every single Friday, consistently drop 5-6 reviews—and they actually do a damn good job of it...

I always thought Dub was a pretty decent band... though I wasn't feeling their last two albums, and their live shows didn't really blow me away either...
Unexpected Force is garbage—and according to people who have actually been in the same room as them, they’re just a "pack of high, reckless idiots."
So, did anyone actually address what happens once the bankruptcy trustee for the Student Union is replaced following the elections?
+ Ilko Čulić (Bass Culture), Zoran Marić (Multiculturalism), and Gordan Penava (Hard Times)...
Really interesting... Back when we used to go to shows by accident, even just catching a gig by some local crew over at the SCa, tickets were priced at an outrageous $15. Fast forward to today, and the same damn office is shamelessly charging 60-$23 for domestic acts...
