Nothing like that ever crossed my mind until I actually saw Henry Rollins live... good lord, what a sight...

Spit on Kid Rock... seriously.

No way, I don't buy it—if a white or Black artist were playing, tickets would definitely be through Ticketmaster. This? It’ll probably be around $70-$80 $33...

Nice... though I assume they'll move them to a larger space—likely an old factory, given how outrageously expensive rent has become lately...
Incredible female vocals!! in Music ·
I was just about to type this out:

"walk her every day
into a shady place
with her lips she said
she said

hey paul, hey paul, hey paul, let's have a ball

gigantic, gigantic, gigantic
a big big love
gigantic, gigantic, gigantic
a big big love..."

Simply beautiful...

Why bother with Google when you have Olmusic at your fingertips? 😉

In my book, the girls on Supernova's Story Music Talents are absolute legends...
Captain Beefheart in Music ·
I’d gladly spend the entire night obsessing over Beefheart—but what can you do when the new crowd at the local indie club, during some Pixies video retrospective, just stares back and asks, "What did you say?" or "Who even are those guys?"
It’s pretty much the same story with the audience in general. These kids today usually have zero grasp of rock history; for most of them, the timeline starts either with Grunge and Nirvana or Brit-pop and Oasis...
Willard Grant Conspiracy in Music ·
Robert Fisher refreshed the Willard site yesterday... I have to admit, reading this actually warmed my heart a bit...

"I am also very pleased to announce that we added a show in Chicago at KSET. Chicago is one of my favorite places to play so I am especially looking forward to this show. Although, for some reason beyond my comprehension, we were unable to find a place to play in Ljubljana this time around, I am hoping that this show will allow us to get to see some of our friends in Canada as well. I know it is a bit of a drive but I hope people will make the trip. KSET is a great club and I believe this will be a very unique evening."

Olivia Robinson said:What about [Smog]?

That whole situation with Smog is just another chapter in the saga involving Nick Hobbs—an Englishman who’s increasingly acting as the middleman between British booking agencies and concert promoters across Eastern Europe...
I actually finalized the deal for Smog for October 6th myself two months ago—only to have the agency tell me last month they decided to run Smog through Nick Hobbs instead because he can squeeze out a better fee. It's a ridiculous move, primarily because I hadn't even discussed finances with the agency yet; they didn't even realize what we were prepared to pay... Since Nick Hobbs works with Mudhoney, Multi-Cultural, and White in Chicago, I assume he's planning to book them at a venue like the Metro, but I also suspect his terms will be totally unrealistic. In the end, Smog probably won't even play here because of him...
After this mess with 13artists, and most other British agencies for that matter, I'm done dealing with them... Luckily, there are still a few solid German promoters out there...

rapidskipper9 said:Rachel Jones11 – I haven’t heard the original "Bezumlje" version, but you claiming it beats the Breakers sounds both incredibly unlikely and highly intriguing. Are those recordings even available anywhere?

I’ve already touched on this in the Barret thread—here’s the reality of the situation. That first cassette was a brilliant garage punk session by Majki, just poorly recorded.
Back in the nineties, when I headed into the city with my mom and picked it up, it absolutely floored me. My immediate reaction was: "Damn, the Partibreakers are the real deal!"

That tape was released in ’89, if I recall correctly, and three of their biggest tracks ended up being featured on the New York bombing soundtrack...

A year later, Majki went back into the studio to record a more polished version of those same songs. They traded that raw, dirty garage production for a much worse hard rock sound—so bad, in fact, that I refused to buy the record...
It was released by Alexander Dragaš and Ante Čikara on their Search & Enjoy Records label, where they also put out the Colored Program’s debut, and even the Girls recorded a record for them. Then the war hit—Čikara moved to Amsterdam, and Sale pivoted heavily into journalism...

If you’re interested, I still have that cassette, but the audio quality is abysmal—we're talking enough static to drive you mad. I don't know how much can even be salvaged from it. I'll try ripping it to my computer and we can figure it out...😉

yyy isn't a bad band—it just irritates me when people start making a massive scene over nothing. I have to admit, the way the music media here in America behaves—especially those self-proclaimed "indie" outlets—is starting to remind me of how Suede was hailed as the greatest band on the planet in the UK press just because they put out a single single. It's pathological.

Roger Jones5 said:Anyway, Monica from FV sent me the schedule—it says Nina Pound Hammer (original lineup included) is playing at our favorite club on September 5th. Is this actually happening?

Haha, she sent me the same thing. I told her it was fine, but noted she really should have reached out to me first regarding that show...

When it comes to American lo-fi, these are my picks:

hammerhead - "into the vortex"
guzzard - "get a witness"
tar - "jackson"
cows - "effete & impudent snobs"
helmet - "strap it on"

Awesome—this is definitely going to sound great on my turntable 😉
