I was just chilling on my couch with a cold beer right in front of me, and man, life was good. Though, honestly, I think this band—hopefully they don't stick with this ridiculous name—is the kind of group you only truly "get" once everything at home settles down, you know? Like, once you’ve actually sat with their sound, let it sink in, and really discover them. That’s why I’ve been spinning this CD nonstop lately; it just keeps getting better every single time, even when I’m totally wiped out or just not in the mood for anything, or when it’s pouring rain outside or... well, basically, they're a genius band. I'd go as far as to say 👍

and seriously, when Majda hits those vocals... it’s just unreal 😍

Alright, look, I’ve got two things to say—and hey, if the band wants to come after me for being a total degenerate and downloading stuff illegally, then let 'em...

Even though his past shows usually have playlists filled with my absolute favorite tracks, this concert was on a whole different level. Seriously, the sound was incredible—huge shoutout to 👍 for nailing the audio. Those sonic textures were just... man, it felt like Steve Wynn himself decided to show up and just stir up some beautiful chaos. Honestly, I’m so glad I got to experience this slightly more experimental side of Willard. It was pure power.

Plus, the venue was absolutely packed! I was actually a little skeptical at first about whether the seating capacity at a theater like this would match the turnout we'd see here in Washington, D.C., but man, was I wrong. The crowd was way bigger than I anticipated. Once again, just a stellar show. 😈
Anyone got any good recommendations on what they're serving up? I might swing by if the menu looks decent 😬

Nah
Man, I seriously can't believe that was over five years ago already 😲
and honestly, nobody has even come close to topping it since then. You guys watching those old Led Zeppelin clips should be ashamed of yourselves!
I’m totally with you guys on options 2 and 3. Man, I still vividly remember walking into that legendary headphone shop back in Unknown—they had a slogan pretty much like this one, called American Beauty, and honestly? They absolutely crushed every other headphone brand out there. Though, before I even got into the whole craft beer scene, I was already obsessed with $2.00 back when I was just some kid.

So yeah, if you’ve actually got guts, go with 2 or 3. 🙏
I mean, yeah, I get that, but if someone’s vibe is just way too different from mine, I honestly don't even have the energy to strike up a conversation. To me, you can tell so much about a person's sensitivity and how open-minded they actually are just by listening to their music—at least, that's how I read it. Call me a snob if you want, but I'll take it... 😎

Hmm, I guess they feel old to me because I didn't actually catch them until the *And the Nothing* era... Just realized now that one came out three years after the one we were talking about...

I don't know, maybe that's a pretty dumb thing to say, but I did a little digging and saw they actually have seven more albums before that, stretching all the way back to '86...

Man, I've officially lost my indie cred. Total crap. 😢
Yo La Tengo in Music ·
Just like boldscout72 mentioned, there's a Big Day Coming ahead, and honestly, the first track from Painful is super similar and just as awesome—plus, two more of those ones above are actually from that same album. You really ought to dig into their older records; you know, i Can hear The Heart beating as One reći.

And I'm pretty sure my post was the very first one on this thread, which is wild when you think about how much stuff people can dig up from the depths of these old forum archives... 😁
Yo La Tengo - Speeding Motorcycle via Fakebook

The absolute best part has to be the beginning, where they’re all just joking around trying to figure out how to actually play the song with Daniel Johnston... 😁 honestly, his vocal flourishes are just top-tier 👍 and totally hilarious
Bright Eyes in Music ·
I’m not really a huge fan of Neva Dinova (you’re totally right though, they can be a bit dry at times, except for that one track "I've got a feeling," which is basically an anthem of sorts 👍

I was actually thinking about that split EP, Bright Eyes + Neva dinov - One jug of wine Two vessels

That one is honestly top-tier. 👋

ambercyclist9 said:Hey, hold on, it’s not like they only have three albums and a couple of EPs—it’s just that they dropped two albums at once this year. They actually have 7 full albums plus about five or six EPs if you aren't counting their splits with other bands or random collaborations, and that’s even before you factor in the Christmas limited release, Conor's solo stuff, and Desaparecidos (his other project).🙂

That post above is pretty old, which honestly makes me feel a little embarrassed 😁 because those last two albums hadn't even come out yet back then. But yeah, they've got the Christmas album, a bunch of unreleased tracks, and those songs Conor wrote when he was just a teenager, plus more EPs and splits with groups like Neva Dinova (which is seriously fantastic), and all that good stuff. You can find everything if you just type Bright Eyes into Spotify, AllMusic, or Google. 🙄

And people are out here spelling Desaparecidos like some kind of "gotcha" moment in this whole indie snob debate.

At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter if you know every single thing they've ever released; what matters is how much you connect with the music you actually listen to... 🙄
Bright Eyes in Music ·
If you just flip his avatar into negative mode, you’ll see it’s clearly Conor Oberst himself 😁
Bright Eyes in Music ·
Man, I totally missed out on catching Desaparecidos 😁 blasting their frustrations while I was out riding my bike, just hitting top speed and feeling completely effortless...

But man, I finally got around to listening to them today

Like, Animal Collective - did you see The Word is actually pretty solid, this new album is kind of 👍 awesome
Women drummers in Music ·
Man, that absolutely floored me... honestly, it’s the kind of stuff you wouldn't even let a girl in a drum corps touch, let alone drink. Anyway, I'm gonna go ahead and dive into *Spirited Away* real quick while it's still playing.

Karen Doyle2🙂 said:Hell yeah, I’m right there with you! +1! 😉 👋

I finally sat down and actually read through this whole thread properly just now, and honestly, I can't say I'm surprised... 😁 girl power
at its finest.
Women drummers in Music ·
It just hit me (and damn it, I know I said otherwise before)
let’s set the record straight: the absolute best drummer out there is Georgia Hubley (and yeah, I totally dig her style) 🙏 👍 🙏

Mo Tucker yeah baby 👍 😬
What's next after the White Button? in Music ·
Central Park. 😁
Slowdive
Man, My Bloody Valentine...

Did the Unicorns actually split up for good at the end? Honestly, I’d still love to hear them play live anytime

And one more... hmm
Smashing Pumpkins, but only because my brain totally blanked on anything better...
Weezer in Music ·
And honestly, it kind of sounds like Weezer, but it’s just not them. That’s what gets me—it feels like there’s nothing really substantial behind that similar sound, whereas before you actually had Green and Blue to lean on. It’s not even that it’s played badly or anything (it sits right in that MTV pop-rock sweet spot), it’s just more about that feeling of being let down.
