Does anyone happen to have an English or American manual for AutoCAD?

Thanks!

Maybe try a little Google search first.

Assuming the internet connection itself is working fine, maybe try reinstalling the network card drivers.

@Brian Campbell36/">@@Brian Campbell36: Or maybe Windows was just splitting up its updates—doing part of the heavy lifting during shutdown and finishing the rest when the machine boots back up. I guess the question is, is this waiting period happening every single time you turn it on now, or was it just a one-time thing?
Best external hard drives to buy right now? in Computer Peripherals ·
Amanda Anderson87 said:Exactly. My two units don't have external power supplies, even though the manufacturer insists they need them. So, I guess I'm stuck with your suggestion. Buying a whole new hard drive plus an enclosure?

Well, if that's the case, just grab the enclosure and the hard drive (make sure it's large enough). I actually use that exact setup myself. It’s been running smoothly for about two years now; I record stuff from my digital tuner, watch it, delete it, and everything works fine. No issues at all. 🙂

Amanda Anderson87 said:Well, I thought it was a bit weird to need two enclosures for one drive. 🤣 I actually already have two external drives in their own cases. So, if I just buy what you suggested and put it together with the screwdriver provided, 🙂 that's it? Great!

No, no, I think we’re miscommunicating here. If you already have two external HDDs in enclosures, then you don't need the specific setup I was talking about. You could just take one of those existing external drives, plug its USB cable into the port on your TV, and call it a day.

My suggestion was specifically responding to your question: "I should probably buy an external HDD with its own power supply, maybe around 250-500 GB." Since everything on the market seems to be larger than what you asked for, I figured buying a standalone HDD and pairing it with a powered enclosure might be the way to go.

Since you mentioned you already own external drives (which wasn't in your first post), then this combination isn't necessary for you... unless I'm mistaken. Given that your current drives draw power directly from the USB port rather than having their own wall plug, I guess the real question is whether the TV manufacturer requires an external power supply for the drive to work properly.

Amanda Anderson87 said:I have two 500 GB external drives at home (one Seagate and one Imation). Does this mean I just buy this enclosure, plug everything in, and I'm done? Also, do I need to be some kind of tech expert to put this together, or will it basically just be a matter of plugging things into their respective slots once I have all the parts in front of me? 😁

Wait, I'm not entirely sure what you mean by having two hard drives—are we talking about bare drives, or the ones already inside an external housing?

It shouldn't be much of a hassle to put a drive into that enclosure. Honestly, you probably won't even need to go hunting through a toolbox for a screwdriver, since most enclosures come with one included in the box. 🙂

Amanda Anderson87 said:I'm looking to pick up an external hard drive with its own power supply, specifically just for recording stuff from my TV. I did a little digging, and it seems like most of the ones with external power adapters start at 1TB or higher. Are there actually any smaller capacity options that come with their own power supply? I probably don't need more than 250-500 GB, since I usually record things and then delete them once I've watched them.

I use this setup and everything works fine, I guess:

- 3.5'' external enclosure

- 250.0 GB Seagate SATA hard drive

So, if you just pair those two together, you basically have an external drive with its own power supply. 🙂

Now we're even bragging about it 😁. I honestly don't think this thread is going anywhere. At the end of the day, everyone should just decide what they want on their computer based on what works for them (too many cooks in the kitchen, I guess)🙂.
New monitors, new resolutions in Computer Peripherals ·
silverridge43 said:Where can I buy these chips? I'd rather just keep my current one!

You can't exactly pick up that chip at a local store. You’ll likely have to drop the monitor off at a repair shop so they can install it for you (assuming there's actually an issue with it 😢). Maybe try calling Customer Support: (555) 555-0199 to see if they even offer repairs for this model.
If you decide to take it in, I guess you should probably ask them to diagnose the fault first and give you a quote. If the cost ends up being around $267 $100, you might be better off just picking up a new 20 or 22-inch LCD monitor instead. 🙂
Printer issues. in Computer Peripherals ·
Paul Campbell said:I’m having an issue with my HP printer, and honestly, it’s probably my own fault. I was trying to print a four-page Word document and didn't realize I only had two sheets left in the tray. Naturally, it stopped mid-job. I quickly popped some paper in, but now it just won't cooperate. Every time I try to print something else, a little icon pops up in the bottom right corner of my taskbar saying one document is pending. I try clicking it and selecting "restart," but nothing happens. It just keeps sending everything to the queue without actually printing anything. Does anyone know what might be causing this? If there's a way I can fix it myself, I'd really appreciate the help...

The printer is an HP DeskJet D2400.

How do I remove captions from an .rmvb file? in Software ·
I'm afraid not, but you might be able to mask them somehow. Some players—I think VLC Media Player is one of them—have an option in the Settings that lets you turn the caption background black. That way, you could basically cover up those annoying hardcoded captions that are stuck on the screen. 🙂

Sophia Harris96 said:Joshua Garcia3, since we're talking about genuine Brother toner...
which exact setup are you running (printer model... and specific toner part number)?

rustysurfer79... I've read your reply twice now...
but honestly, I get that you're clearly deep into all this technical stuff..
still, as someone who isn't an expert, I just need a straight answer.

Is a Brother printer actually reliable enough for a business with a heavy print volume?
And since we're looking at third-party toner... will the machine even support it?

We use a few different models here:

HL-1470N - toner

HL-5070N - toner

HL-2150N - toner

-there are probably other models too, but I can't recall them off the top of my head. 🙂

I've been using that first one for over seven years and I print quite a bit; the other two are used by people nearby (in the adjacent offices).

Sophia Harris96 said:Can I get some feedback on a Brother laser printer?
I checked out a few shops (Best Buy... stuff like that) and they mentioned that for laser printers up to $800-$300
, they have that Brother model for about $167 if I remember correctly... BUT what I really want to know is,
is it actually any good?
Does it work with third-party toner?
And how much does that replacement toner run me...

To be honest, this is my first time ever hearing about the "Brother" brand........
so any info helps... since I'm buying this for the office, and I'd rather not
throw money away after just a few months...

It’s not exactly a newcomer; they've been around for over 20 years. Their printers are reliable—we use them at our firm and I can honestly say they're great. 🙂

Regarding replacement toner 🤷, we always stick with the original.

First, I’d suggest getting those drivers installed for the LAN and wireless adapters, and then we can see what other issues might be hanging around. 😢
