So, once you fire up Limewire and load that .avi file from the movie, just see which specific codec it says is missing. 😢
If VLC can't handle playing it, then the file is probably just a fake; I guess it depends on whether you grabbed it from a public tracker or a private one. 🙂
Limewire is just some free little tool that figures out which codec you'll need to actually run an AVI file, plus it throws in some extra details too.
Andrew Mendoza10 said:I went ahead and downloaded and installed http://img6.imageshack.us/i/xxxxxxa.png/ and everything was running smoothly. But today I tried downloading The Chronicles of Narnia : The Voyage of The Dawn Treader again and it’s throwing an error—just for that specific movie.

What's up G-Spot. 🙂

Just grab "VLC Media Player". That thing plays basically anything you throw at it.
Joshua Garcia3 said:You could probably just use G-Spot to figure out which codec is missing, or maybe just grab the latest version of the Kodiak codec pack. Kodiak. 🙂

Andrew Mendoza10 said:it's happening again 😢🙂😢 what should I do

Well, I guess I should ask what you actually did with the advice I gave you earlier that worked so well. What's G-Spot saying now? 🙂

That CD key only works for the Professional version; if you're running Ultimate, you'll need a different one. As for the graphics card, just install the drivers manually afterward directly from the Nvidia website.🙂

Just for the machine you actually bought it for, obviously—one license per computer. 🙂

Let me know what kind of specs you're running.

There are also some programs out there specifically for tweaking subtitles, like Subtitle Edit or Time Adjuster. 🙂
How to burn subtitles into a video file in Software ·
Douglas Garcia52 said:Sure, it’s doable, but if the author completely trashes the subtitle file from the start, no software on earth can fix it. You might get through half the movie just fine, and then suddenly everything falls apart. That's just my experience, I guess. 😁

You’ll probably lose your mind trying to sync it up until it actually works. 😁

Naiso, I’ve had a few instances where the subtitles just wouldn't align with the video no matter what I did. After messing around with it for a couple of days, I finally realized a chunk of the movie was missing right in the middle—maybe a few minutes' worth. It seems like someone "professionally" processed the file, maybe by stitching two different DVDs together into one single file 🤷 and then uploading it to a torrent. 😁

So you spend all this time syncing the subs to the start and end of the film, only to have it turn into a total disaster halfway through.
Maybe try using G-Spot to figure out which specific codec you’re missing, or just grab the latest version of the Kodiak codec pack. 🙂

I agree. I tried running it on a Pentium 4 2.4 GHz with 512 MB of RAM myself, and it actually functioned...
Taylor Morales31 said:I wouldn't bet money on Windows 7 being usable with just 512MB of RAM,
since you aren't just installing the OS and calling it a day. It isn't just the system eating up the memory either; you've got all these other programs—antivirus, browsers, media players, network services, blah, blah. (For instance, Opera is pulling about 166MB of RAM on my end right now, and if I try to launch SAS at the same time, it needs over 100MB. That’s already half of those 512MB gone. Where is the system supposed to pull more from then? Nowhere, because there simply isn't any left.)

It makes zero sense to do it, because even Windows XP struggles to breathe when you start running modern software that demands more and more RAM these days.
👍

...but I'm totally with Taylor Morales31 on this one. Once you start adding Microsoft Office and other essential software, the whole thing becomes problematic, if not outright impossible.🙄

I followed everything you laid out in those links. 🙂 But then again, there isn't even a flag icon on them either. 😉 It’s not even mentioned in the ADDS documentation. 🤷

I missed it the first time too, until it finally clicked. I ended up just printing out those two sets of instructions and adding a little note at the bottom that you have to hit the commit icon to actually finish everything. They say wise men learn while fools merely remember, I guess. We aren't exactly partitioning hard drives or splitting up disks every single day, so when the time comes, I'll just look at my notes and try to remember what I did. 🙄

Douglas Garcia52@ I guess the issue is they didn't click the little flag icon at the end to let Microsoft finish its thing. 🙂

Anyway, here’s an English guide from this forum:

Look, everyone’s doing their own thing, so I guess you just have to pick whatever fits your specific needs and what you're actually looking for:

Justin Gray81 said:Exactly. I tried using Acronis first and it just wasn't working 🤷 I gave it three goes, and while it acts like everything is fine, once I actually open my Computer, there's nothing there but the C: drive and that's it. 🤷

Maybe I'll give EaseUS a shot....

EDIT:
EaseUS handled it perfectly. 👍
thanks Wise 👍

I guess you weren't doing something right with Acronis, but if this other one worked for you, then fine by me. 🙂

Joshua Garcia3 said:Acronis Disk Director suite. 🙂

Douglas Garcia52 said:Listen to Joshua Garcia3, Acronis Disk Director suite works however you want it to.
You can make as many partitions as you feel like, and you decide all the sizes. 🙂

Taylor Morales31 said:I'm not sure if it'll let him resize the system partition; usually, that doesn't work. 👍

Douglas Garcia52 said:It can handle the system partition. I've partitioned both the system drive and others before. He should probably shrink the system partition (likely the C: drive) to the desired size first, and then
shrink the other one and use whatever space is left over to create a third.
Acronis is pretty much the gold standard for this stuff; I use it constantly to split up drives and set partition sizes without any real issues so far.

Like Justin Gray81 mentioned, it does whatever you want and handles the system partition just fine. 🙂

Justin Gray81 said:I've been scouring Google, and honestly, it feels like every single piece of advice on partitioning just circles right back to Disk Management...
I've got this 500GB hard drive that I'm trying to split into three separate partitions—specifically 60GB, 280GB, and 160GB. But, naturally, it’s just refusing to work. 😳
My mechanic suggested I shrink my partition by about 200GB, so I went ahead and did it. 🤷 So now I'm stuck with two partitions—one at 300GB and another at 200GB—but the system partition is the bigger one. And when I actually try to shrink it down to 60GB to leave 240GB for the other side, it just won't work. There's basically no way to do it. 😳 It’s only giving me the option to shrink it by another 15GB. 😕😕
How do I run another partition? Honestly, I’m completely lost here. 🤷

I guess I should probably mention the Acronis Disk Director suite. 🙂

Rachel Rodriguez72 said:So, I'm running Windows 7, and whenever I try downloading torrents using uTorrent, BitTorrent, or whatever, my computer just resets itself after a few minutes. The screen goes blue and mentions NETIO.SYS along with some driver info, though I can't quite catch what it says before it crashes... basically, does anyone know what might be causing this?
Downloading via Opera seems to work totally fine!

thanks

Well, you'll have to give us more details on those drivers. It’s probably something involving the Wireless Networks drivers. Try doing this:

Right-click on My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Startup and Recovery > Settings, and disable the option to Automatically restart. That way, when it crashes again, you should actually be able to see the error message. Just write down what it says.

Hold on, did you actually download the drivers specifically for Windows 7, or are you trying to force the ones from Windows XP to work? 🙂
