Yeah, it sounds pretty generic, uninspired, and just lacks any real creative spark. For instance, I’d argue that "Lena" is actually a much better track, even if it isn't exactly a massive hit. That bit about the "excited condoms" just slightly kills the whole vibe for me.

Look, Italy has been dipping in and out of this competition for years, and let’s be honest—the songs they perform aren't exactly anything that keeps listeners over there on the edge of their seats. And frankly, it's the same story here in the States, aside from when we have our own representative to root for, of course. At the end of the day, most of these entries are just lazily thrown together without an ounce of real effort.

Perhaps. We don't have much to go on yet, aside from the fact that Carey Mulligan is set to star. David Cronenberg's Collision was built on the back of a cult classic novel, which probably accounts for about half of that movie's success—even if the direction had been subpar, which it wasn't. I can't quite wrap my head around what Nicolas Winding Refn intends to anchor this film on, other than his vague notion of wanting to pay homage to some old flick filled with nothing but sex. 😁

I’m genuinely pleased to see him evolving as a director; he isn't afraid to dig into much heavier themes and more profound motifs. He has an erotic thriller lined up next, followed by what will likely be a project inspired by Alejandro Jodorowsky and Moebius SF—if everything goes according to plan, this could easily become the most ambitious undertaking of his entire career. However, given the sheer bizarreness of Jodorowsky’s metaphysics paired with Refn’s somewhat autistically detached approach to narrative, there is a real risk he might lose his footing. Regardless, the man possesses enough raw creativity and technical mastery to pull it off. If he had just kept grinding away at those gritty stories about street gangsters in Denmark, he would have remained nothing more than a provincial director, though I suppose that was never really his intention anyway.

Back when I was younger—I mean, back when I actually started taking music seriously during those early middle school years... my rotation was pretty much stuck on Metallica, Iron Maiden, and Guns N' Roses.
Bratić used to constantly nag me about listening to The Beatles or Led Zeppelin instead, but honestly, his taste just never really clicked with me, lol.

One-hit wonder directors: Who comes to mind?

McDowell is light years away from being some flash-in-the-pan one-hit wonder; have you even bothered to look at his filmography? It spans four entire decades and he’s still consistently working to this very day.

Mark Walker97 said:Everything mentioned is a mandatory, fundamental part of this genre. It just is. By buying a ticket, you’re essentially signing off on those tropes—but clearly, some people failed to grasp that.
I realized and accepted all of that based solely on the trailer—not to mention the very premise of the film itself—and I didn't even have to buy a ticket to know what was coming. However, the sheer level of cheap, pathetic sentimentality was something I truly didn't see coming. In that specific regard, they actually managed to exceed my lowest expectations.

Even if we’re talking about cocaine, there isn't some law on the books that forbids singing about it. Cocaine as cocaine has been celebrated in music a thousand times over.

Look, nobody with half a brain is actually expecting some profound masterpiece or gritty realism from a flick like this. We get it. But people are still allowed to have an opinion, and in my view, this movie fails to even function as a decent action flick. Don't get me wrong, there’s plenty of action, but is it actually fun? Not even remotely. What really kills the initial momentum of the takeover sequence isn't even the glaringly obvious CGI; it's the lack of soul. Then you have the second half, which just drags on with uncharismatic characters, overblown sentimentality, and a level of pretentiousness that feels like they're trying way too hard to be deep. It's just a collection of tropes we've already seen recycled a hundred times before.

Accidentally hilarious movie moments

Honestly, watching The Room is such a strange, polarizing experience. It feels like the whole thing is steeped in this intense, left-leaning sensibility, doesn't it? Yet, despite how much that might grate on one's nerves, I have to admit it was a fascinating experience to sit through. 😁

The Room is a movie that is unintentionally hilarious from start to finish, and one of the absolute peaks of this absurdity is...
the flower shop scene
And then you have those absolute idiots in Judge Dredd...
LAAWW!
That genius flick from the 80s, Miami Connection, is just overflowing with scenes exactly like this. Truly top-tier stuff!

But honestly, this little gem doesn't fall behind at all either...

Ha, ha, what an absolutely fascinating mess we have here. I’d honestly bet my last dollar against those few participants in this thread who clearly haven't the slightest clue what is actually happening, which, quite frankly, just adds to the comedy of the situation. 🙂
Why is the men's corner even allowed?

Because even though there’s this massive, surface-level trend toward being politically correct, men still hold absolute dominion over everything. And what happened to the women's corner? Is it just going to be a homophobic space now?

To be honest, if it isn't a total disaster, it's at least half a disaster. Even that highly acclaimed first installment was pretty mediocre in my eyes.
Wild stories from the set

When you look back at the trajectories of Corey Haim, Corey Feldman, and River Phoenix, you see these heartbreaking narratives of young, immensely promising actors from the 80s whose lives took turns that were anything but fairy tales. It’s a sobering pattern, isn't it? You have figures like Heath Ledger and Mary Olsen, along with so many others who found themselves spiraling into various struggles with substance abuse. Then there's the tragic arc of Edward Furlong...
Underrated movies you probably missed

I’m not entirely sure which specific films tanked across the board, so I decided to dig through some lists to see if I could find anything interesting.
One movie that really sticks out to me—and honestly, it irritates me how much it was overlooked—is Death to Smoochy. I actually stumbled upon it by accident years after its release and ended up genuinely enjoying it. It doesn't exactly have a disastrous rating on >, but looking at the reception, it’s clear the general public just didn't connect with it. It leans heavily into a very particular brand of slapstick humor that might be a bit too zany or dark for mainstream tastes. Still, there's a real story here, > proves he can handle comedy just fine, > is consistently reliable in those types of roles (think >), and > is perfectly placed as well.

It’s a tribute to those old Kung Fu movies and similar flicks that used that specific technique.
