Hey there.

So, at the start of the month, I sent off a package headed to Germany. They told me straight up that I couldn't list the value or mark it as fragile, and—surprise, surprise—everything went sideways. According to the web tracking, the last update from March 9th says the package is sitting in Germany, supposedly damaged, just waiting for some inspection. I’m planning on heading down to the USPS to see what the deal is, but I wanted to check if anyone else has dealt with this kind of mess. Is there any hope for getting compensated? It’s not like I lost a fortune here, but it's still a few hundred bucks out of my pocket.

Belichick is funding them, while Diehl is busy splitting things up with the Seawolves 😁

Eric Jackson43 said:But if you think about it, every sport starts in some specific country, and I don't really recall seeing teams in other sports named after their home country's language.

With the NFL, it’s just how it works—teams take names inspired by American themes. How else am I supposed to explain it? It's all because the sport started here in the USA and the highest level of play is only found here. There isn't any real money flowing through these leagues; most clubs are barely keeping the lights on. Last year, the Patriots were basically gone due to cash flow issues, and now we're looking at no Thunder or Raiders this season.

Honestly, the New England Patriots have no clue how to handle a heavy-hitting draft class from the USA 🤣 Like Thorin said, this is American sports through and through, so people just stick to naming clubs "the American way." You see it all the time in Major League Soccer too, where teams are starting to pivot toward those European-style names instead.

Yeah, I guess that's why 🙄

Which eye doctor in Chicago should I go to? Looking for somewhere I can get an exam, grab some new glasses, and just get everything 🙂 Google, Time, Slaven Bilic, Apple 🤷
Which optical shop in Washington, D.C. should I go to? Looking for somewhere to get an eye exam, pick up some glasses, and just get everything done in one place 🙂 Ghetaldus, Monocle, Slaven Bilić 🤷
Anyone planning on starting threads for this week's European matches for Slavena and Osijek? 🤷

Looking at the lineup—Mexico, the US, Denmark, and Spain—we’re definitely the underdogs here. If it were up to me, I'd actually prefer if Spain took the top spot. They seem just as out of their depth as we are... a bunch of rookies who aren't really looking for a medal anyway, just trying to hold their own.😢

The Canadians have a grudge against the Spaniards, and we can't stand the Canadians, so looks like you might just get your wish.
Man, this is ugly.
dustyridge3 said:Shouldn't Poland have needed at least a 4-point cushion against the Swedes just to give the Mexicans a fighting chance?

Not really. If you look at the group consisting of Mexico, Germany, and Poland, Mexico actually holds the best goal difference (+2 against Poland and -1 against Germany). Then you've got the Poles at +1 against Germany and -2 against Mexico, while the Germans sit at +1 against Mexico and -1 against Poland.
So, basically rooting for the Scandinavians tonight just to make sure they have a total blast during the final round 🙂

Keta really pulled it off there ☕

It’s pretty wild how we get treated by the refs, though. Just like that MEP said, it’s like we’re some random underdog team showing up at a tournament every once in a while. A few subtle calls go the Spaniards' way and suddenly the whole game is decided. Still waiting to see what MCAucliffe has to say about it 🙂

dustyridge3 said:It might sound a bit silly, but honestly, a lot of people just don't have the guts to step onto a football field. That’s probably why those numbers look so low on the participation list.

And yet, if you look at any college campus, football is basically everywhere... one thing is for sure, though: it really is the king of sports here in the States.

Anyway, we're drifting way off topic again. 😁

Adam Moore said:What year is that survey from?

It’s from 2005...

There was also a "newer" one from 2009, run by Harris (kind of like our local Pulse, Prisma, or Target):

1. pro football
2. pro baseball
3. college football
4. auto racing (all kinds)
5. pro basketball
6. hockey
7. college basketball
8. golf
9. soccer
10. boxing

Yeah, obviously, it's hard to build an accurate ranking in a market this massive, but at least you get a rough idea of what Americans actually bother watching...
