But I guess that's the whole point: what does the average action movie watcher actually care about? Just mindless stuff, things flying everywhere, being overloaded with special effects... while there's basically zero intelligence to be found.
I wasn't trying to call M. I. 1. Quote trash, nor was I saying BI 4 was good (not that I've seen it or even want to).

Goodfellas, Scarface, Heat, Where Eagles Dare, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Kill Bill, The Matrix, Alien, The Fugitive, Hero, Taken, Bullitt... man, what a question. Those are basically the ones where you're actually supposed to use your brain, I guess.

😂
Quote: The Rock is just high-budget, mindless, sensationalist, overblown garbage.
I don't think this poll really makes much sense. Comparing the quality of the Bourne films to Mission: Impossible is just... off. It’s kind of like trying to compare a serious, well-thought-out action flick to some loud, mindless Michael Bay production. The first ones are actually intelligent movies meant for an audience that wants substance. The others? They're just instant gratification with zero artistic value. Aside from the massive box office numbers, which I guess just reflects the general state of consciousness of the masses.
I’m not saying I have some specific number in mind—honestly, let them pay whatever massive amount they want. But messing with race results? That's just unnecessary, totally unfair, unsporterlike, and honestly pretty counterproductive.
Sure, penalize all five of them if you have to, but I really hope they don't do it in a way that messes with the final race result, the points earned, or the overall championship standings. 🙂

...so I guess I'm actually kind of glad they did it. Whether they meant to or not, now that points don't matter much for them anymore, they've basically made fools of themselves with those ridiculous steward rulings.
In my opinion, penalties like the one handed to Mark Webber are a cancer on Formula 1. It’s unnecessary, just pure stupidity. They're basically artificially engineering the standings for the next race and messing with the entire championship flow. And why? All because of some mindless safety regulations? Whose safety are we actually talking about here? For those lunatics tearing around the track at breakneck speeds, safety is usually left sitting back in the garage. Formula 1 is racing. Fastest driver wins. Period. You get there by taking a certain level of risk—a risk every single driver accepts the moment they strap themselves into the cockpit. Then you have someone stepping in to play philosopher, claiming this W-ov move wasn't done in a "safe manner." I mean, surely the driver is the one most concerned with his own safety. Why should he care what some textbook nerd thinks? Someone who isn't even out there and just meddles in things that should be decided on the track. I’d love to go see a race again, but I wouldn't spend a dime on races that feel scripted. I'll probably just watch them from home, and honestly, for free.
It’s some pretty solid drama, I guess. There’s a bit of humor sprinkled in here and there, which keeps it from being too heavy, though it definitely gets intense at times. I actually liked how they played with the contrast between that gorgeous scenery in Hawaii and all of Matt King’s personal mess—that restaurant scene was a nice touch. 7/10
So, I finally sat down and watched this movie today. 😲 Just out of a bit of curiosity, really, since I’ve been waiting on it all year, and I wasn't exactly in the mood for football anyway. And, yeah, I didn't know much about Edith Piaf before this. I always found her a little off-putting, and her music just never really moved me. But this film... it was something else.
Basically, Marion was absolutely incredible as Edith. Probably one of the best parts of the whole thing. The movie does such a great job capturing who she was—her vibe, how she sang, her path through life, her character, and the music itself. After watching, I guess I can only say I'm bummed I don't speak French, because now I actually want to listen to and understand what Piaf was singing about with so much emotion, passion, sadness, love...

So late that you don't leave any room at all for the guy you're overtaking, basically forcing him off the track. That isn't skill, or bravery, or even being gutsy—it’s just being reckless. Any idiot can do that...
I don't entirely agree with that. I mean, if we didn't have drivers like this—and unfortunately, they're pretty rare in F1—the sport would be unwatchable, at least for me. There's hardly any room to overtake in Monaco, so seeing a move like one from Perez or Sutil actually felt like a nice change of pace for what could have been a pretty boring race. He definitely overdid it in the end, I guess, but at least he actually tried, unlike some others...
Unfortunately, it’s actually the exact opposite. I’m basing this on about ten of his movies I've sat through. Aside from The Island, which was maybe a 5/10, everything else sits at a 1/10 or maybe a 2/10 on IMDb. I guess.
Jessica Gonzalez said:It’s not just bad; I think it’s actually catastrophic. It might even be the reason someone starts avoiding movies altogether.
Yeah, totally. Honestly, whenever I see his name in the director credits, I just skip it. I mean, I just don't think he's capable of making anything I'd actually enjoy, period.
I mean, you're kind of right, but when I look at something like Pearl Harbor, I just end up thinking he’s definitely the worst director ever. Like, period. Not just here, but globally. In the entire universe, probably.
It’s a decent political flick. It doesn't exactly blow you away with some massive star power or groundbreaking directing, but if that kind of movie is your thing, it’s worth a watch. I did appreciate the occasional sharp jab at how messy things are in American politics these days. One sentence kept popping into my head while watching—it pretty much sums the whole thing up: politics is a total bitch. 7/10
A movie where Jack Nicholson plays Jack Nicholson, and Morgan Freeman plays Morgan Freeman. 😬 Legends meeting legends. Real heavy hitters. And from what I can tell, they were both born in '37. Their doctor is, naturally, Joel Fleischman. 😁 It’s a charming little thing—maybe looks pretty simple on the surface—but if you actually pay attention, it really makes you think. The dialogue is sharp, the scenery is gorgeous (though sometimes the editing feels a bit off), there's some decent humor, a touch of unavoidable sentimentality, and an ending that honestly had me tearing up... sort of a mix of happy and sad, I guess. This one will either hit you hard or just bore you to death. For me, it was 8/10.
